My concern is that the drive is going to be coming from a point significantly further back than previously, but the pivot point for the trailing arms is in the same place. So you're going to need to lengthen the trailing arms in order for the driveshafts to line up which changes the suspension geometry a bit, which then affects a lot of the work you've already done on the suspension. Having said that, and going away and thinking for a few minutes more,I suspect it's not going to matter much, if at all, as the geometry isn't going to be changing depending on the trailing arm angle unlike in more complex designs. Also - good work! Also 2 - as soon as you started talking about the detent in the shifter I thought "he's going to weld and turn that". Thanks for not disappointing me.
I have a spare Hellcat Engine out of my TRX that I’d love to put in one of these sandrails. If there is a transaxle that could mate to the hemi I’ll give it a try.
Im not a VW wiseman but, are you going to modify the trailing arms mounting points, transmission looks more to the rear than the arms, remember the arms travel in a swinging movement and the cvs might not have a great movement
You can built a buggy with beetle engine just get the piping weld it make the adjustments how you want you will have a fun manual plus if you burn the clutch will be easy fix
Dam this is cool I'm also building a mid-eninge TDI powered rail I see you're still utilising the vw torsion. My TDI is kinda heavy but I got away with 30mm 26 9/16 bars with bilstein 5125 12" stroke shocks and it's plush
@@evangreen26 Love to hear that. I was doing some research on them when I was seeking an alternative to the aircooled stuff. You documenting your build anywhere?
Found you cuz of the buggy. Will continue to watch everything about the buggy.
Thank you!
Been watching since the start of the buggy build!
Your good 😁
Lots of positive Mojo for the project from Australia, keep up the good work 👍
Thank you!
Yesss! Finally a new buggy video!!!
It's always a good day when there's a new video from SRG. Although I'm very curious to see what's needed for the axles to work.
I think the axles will be easy but well see!

Beautiful work, not butchered anywhere, I luv it .
Thank you very much!
Videos are much appreciated. Keep up the great work and awesome mods
Nice work! Sure has raised the center of gravity compared to the VW set up
Yes it does. But will it wheelie?

Check out mendeola. They make high power transaxles for that kind of application
I'm thinking your weight distribution will be pretty good
Waiting to see your approach on thifting..... I'm thinking Morse cables...
Im thinking MR2 shifter and some cables as well...

Check out my latest axle video. I am going to give it a try with this funky axle angle and see what happens

Nice! Are you running the fwd TDI gearbox?
@@spankranchgarage Passat /Audi transaxle that's way it's still a longitudinal config.

i am looking into putting a supercharged 3.8 v6 out of a Pontiac grand prix into my sand rail,
Did you buy the trans adapter or make it yourself ?
might need longer swing arms for the rear to line the axles up eh?
I don’t think so but we’ll see!
0:57 I can't ever work in that position because I'll instantly take a nap on accident 😅
The hot chips in my beard keep me awake!
Hey what transmission did you use.
It’s a 5-speed from a 90s Subaru legacy. I have a few videos with the specifics if you want a deep dive
Good job 👍
Thanks!
theres gotta be something more than just the like button!
Mantap bang
Buggy video means insta like.
I can't wait to see this thing RIP!
Muito bom,,, aqui no Brasil também gostamos muito e chamamos esse veículo artesanal de gaiola auto Cross
hello
how you are doing , hope well .
i really like that anq i want to know how much that cost .
I think it cost me about 300USD
hello
how are you doing there today , hope all its fine.
so i really like that and if you build one how much that can cost please ? .
i
what is the diameter of the chassis pipes?
1.5”
Let’s gooooo
What transmission did u use
Its just a subaru awd trans that I converted to a lower ratio transaxle. Check out my other videos I have a 2 part series showing how to do it.
Gotta have bnr tune this engine
Just checked them out. I have my own dyno and tune my own cars but if I cant figure this out they look like the right guys to talk to thank you!
super stoked
Playing the same game but as a Baja...
Mid engine as well?
@@spankranchgarage Yes but a 4.3 engine ..
Thats going to be insane! You should start a youtube channel to share some of the build.
All those cans of soda are gonna do your teeth no favours
