    Great video. The Bible says He's coming back for a Church without spot or wrinkle. The aim should be to surrender and serve. God calls believer to be set apart and to be a light. We all struggle but that's not a license to live wrong

    As a church musician of 15 years I can say I absolutely would not be in a church band with musician who prides himself in being gay and has no desire change. I also wouldnt be in a church band, knowing most of the married guys are sleeping with other women. Also i wouldnt be a musician at a church where the pastor is lives a lifestyle I dont agree with. Im not perfect, but I do hold myself to a standard.

      Every sin is in the church not just homosexuality, that most leaders don't address nor speak about on the pulpit because they may be doing it themselves behind closed doors. It's always homosexuality that's being condemned in the church, and many ministers are living secret, double lifestyles, and are engaging in homosexuality as well. So, it's not just the homosexual musicians and the choir director. It's the pastors too.

      its one thing for there to be secret sin, that on one knows about - God can and will deal with that. Remember the OT priests entering the HoH on a rope or the H/Spirit killing Ananias.
      But when we know, and excuse it (every body's doing it) we become responsible and partakers of that sin as well. When Peter realised the Saphhira was lying, it was he Peter that prounounced judgement/death upon her. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of God

    Neither is correct. All should be addressed in a congregation. There are still biblical standards. If a pastor is proven to be doing illicit things, he should be removed. The same holds true for musicians and any other leadership position who are involved in illicit activities. It does not matter if it's gambling, drunkeness, homosexuality, or sleeping with half the church. They fall under the same umbrella of sin. A little leaven leavens the whole lump....

This Pastor was adamant about the worship being wholly and demanded holiness from anyone who ministered. If you weren’t living, holy, you are promptly and unceremoniously removed from your position. I saw this happen to prominent people in the church, and this pastor will never know how much that impressed me.

    I think God that I had a Pastor, who now went to be with the Lord, who felt that the church was a place for broken people. And her door was open 24 seven for Prayer for support, moral and financial and for instruction. She was a nurturer, but more than that she was a WORSHIP ER. That’s how she categorized herself. She felt no worship was secret and that nothing should taint soil or make a mockery of that because the worship belong to God, it was something that was forHIM and to offer him something and worship in music that was tainted and compromising was a kin to offering strange fire to the Lord, which he did not accept. To her credit, I saw her sit down a lot of people until they got their lives together. In areas that they were adamant about living in. If you were having a legitimate struggle, she would excuse you from doing the worship temple rarely and check on you at work with you to get that thing settled. I taken a long time to say this because it’s so important to me is so crucial to the body. This is what should be done and I’m glad that was under ministry wear a pastor took this seriously

      @isaaccarter8487 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I hope this helps. It helped me. I think it all starts with being able to recognize "sin" and "living in sin". Two totally different things. If you wake up today and get in your car and somebody cut you off while you're driving and you give them the finger or cuss at them, you have sinned and need to repent and get that right with God. You didn't wake up that morning planning on doing that. When you are living in homosexuality you are waking up every day and that is a part of your lifestyle. Nobody is perfect and we sin whether consciously or subconsciously every day but there is a difference between sinning and living in sin. Again, I hope this helps. For we are all sinners Saved By God's grace. God bless 🙌🏽

    • @TerenceFisher1
      @TerenceFisher1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @@isaaccarter8487 I appreciate you trying to explain this concept. However, it's something I have heard before and it makes no sense. It doesn't describe any fundamental difference between sin and living in sin. Here's why...
      In your example, the person who cusses the person out who cuts them off in traffic has committed a sin.. Ok, but then the next day he cusses someone out at his job, and the day after that he cusses out is wife. Let's say he has this pattern for cussing people out an entire year. This means that this person is living in sin, right?
      Now, you have to apply this to all other things that are considered sins too. You lie all the time, you hold envy and jealousy all the time, you lust after every woman that you think is attractive all the time, etc. You are living in sin. And these are things people do every day!
      So you would have to say that both the gay person and the person who cusses people out in your example are living in sin.
      So if we are going to say that gay people are living in sin and hold them accountable, then it needs to be the exact same thing with people who commit other sins repeativinely. Gay musicians can't play in churches, then neither can people who cuss others out all the time

    • @machotkeyz8086
      @machotkeyz8086 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@TerenceFisher1 1 Cor 9 is one to look at. I know it doesn’t directly say whether they should or shouldn’t be musicians but it does talk about every one of those sins you mentioned (inc the corrupt pastor you mentioned). If the whole department/s have to be stripped down then so be it. What we can’t do is say because other people are allowed to get away with their sin, then others should too. That’s very dangerous!

    Great video! I knew pastors that would sit you down if you were out of order in any capacity. If we are to make disciples then we need to teach. If we truly love like Christ, we don’t leave people where they are but show them the more excellent way. It’s not about who is doing the same thing or seemingly getting away with a sin or sins. It’s about what is the way that Christ would have us be or what would he want us to teach to his disciples. Peace and blessings!

      I disagree with this. The fellowship of believers is for the edification and encouragement of people who share the same beliefs. When we go out and live our lives in the world, we take the spirit with us to hopefully be a light and bring others into the fellowship. I am not saying that sinners can't come to church, but they shouldn't be comfortable remaining in their sinful state week after week, year after year. At some point, they should want to change.
      If I visited a fellowship of Satanists, I would be uncomfortable. I don't share their beliefs so after a time, I am either going to change and accept the beliefs or move on. They aren't going to allow me to become a music leader knowing that I don't uphold their values.

    Branding homosexuality as a "sin" is something stone-age tribes used to do. The idea was that if you could keep gay people from having gay sex, then they would probably just be having straight sex like everybody else - meaning that there would be _more children born to the tribe._ And with the threat of war with other tribes constantly looming, strength in *numbers* was more important than anything else. However, in our modern *overpopulated* world, allowing those who are born gay to *live* as gay might actually be what saves us all from a global catastrophe.
    God created gay people for a reason. Respect it and respect *them.*

    Sin is sin, regardless of a person's position in the church or lack thereof. God doesn't show favoritism towards anyone, and the church should follow suit. It's easy to point fingers and assign blame, but we should lovingly correct each other according to God's word (Matthew 18:15-17). The actions of one bad person shouldn't be allowed to destroy the good that's being done for God's kingdom. We should all strive to uphold God's standards, as outlined in the Bible, and deal with sinful behavior according to those guidelines. Let's not shrink away from our responsibility to do what God has called us to do regarding rebuking someone for sinful behavior.

    "And I have since apologized to them, and all of that." (8:20) Whoa... Is that all you have to say about yourself in this scenario? I agree that the pastor handled this situation horribly. No doubt. But you are a "church people" too. Not once in this video did you admonish "church people" who are men, to NEVER do what you did. You just blamed the pastor. A major point in this video should be to NEVER take advantage of your sisters in Christ by dating several of them at one time. Take responsibility for yourself regardless of what your church family allows you to "get away with." Because we all know... in Eternity, you aren't getting away with anything. Now, I understand that you can't change what you did in the past, but you can certainly admonish young musicians in the church today to RUN from these types of temptations because of the awful damage that you've seen it inflict upon others. Take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on yourself and your past self-centered behavior as well as the pastor's...especially since you are ultimately the only one that you have full control over.

    6:29 You hit the nail right on the head. That’s another issue in some church cultures. Single men, especially new members, sometimes don’t really feel welcomed in the church because the perception is that we are either gay or something else is wrong with us, and the single women are already pre-programmed into hypergamy by the Pastor or peer pressure.
    Or as you said, these ladies looking to the Pastor to seek their advice and consent for them to date someone else.

    I'm 50 years in on all genre's of drumming. Did the worship band thing, but not anymore. I always struggled with it's elevated place in churches. It's become a major idol and dare I say even a cult within the church. It's a huge resource bleeder, on and on. I now attend a little church with just a piano and organ neither which are played at the same time. The music is back where it belongs... Way in the background hardly noticed as a thin layer under girding the rich message of the songs. Pure peace and bliss with no distractions and noise.

But.....they would not be on the pulpit. That goes for the choir or playing any instruments. I respected this man, so much for taking a stance. Every other sin, has to be addressed. I have observed all this foolish hypocrisy for all my church life. Yep! You may gt a new musician, but no one is kicking their golden mouth preacher out even if they know he's sleeping with a fourth of the congregation and half the town. That is a practical reason that the titles Reverend and Father never made sense, because in essence you are saying something about these men that is not warranted. Jesus said not to call people these titles for a reason. He said what he said and meant what he said. P.S. I guess no one wants to talk about kicking out the heterosexual musician either. My brother in Christ, I haven’t gone to a single church where they did not have a gay person in the ministry. Everybody knew, but at the same time, they didn’t sell that person out just to appease the world.
    Will people have their opinions and personal interpretations about the word when it comes to the LGBTQIA+ community, of course they will. But at the same time, we are commanded by Jesus to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Jesus said that is the most important commandment next to loving the Lord our God with our heart, mind and soul.
    Which means the “love the sinner, hate the sin” quote erroneous because how can one love when hate exists in their heart?

    Nobody is perfect of course and we all fall short. It’s interesting to me the tendency of people to pick and choose the sin they want to call out. If the wages of sin are death, then all sin is equal, but people assign different values to different sins, and then designate it as worse when it’s “out in the open” because people are worried more about vanity than the heart.
    Seems like the church and industries associated has added an 11th commandment for the people with something to offer that benefits them. “Do what you want, but don’t get caught and make us look bad”
    They’d rather have the one who boasts a public appearance of holiness but a private life full of darkness, than they would the transparent one who is open about their shortcomings but is still in honest pursuit of God.
    Just the way it is.

    I must disagree respectfully. “Gay activity” and touching little/young boys are not synonymous. What you are describing is pedophiliac behavior, and to describe pedophiliac actions as “gay activity,” is messed up and irresponsible.
    Being openly gay in worship leader positions is not what creates the problem, people being bad human beings create the problem and not being checked on that. I speak from experience. I’ve known and still do a couple openly gay church and musician leaders and they have significant others or some live by themselves and have never done anything out of line. The children around them have never showed signs of discomfort around them and trust, the places they reside take that seriously.
    One of the few times something scandalous happened, I remember the head minister, who is straight, absolutely got fired for sexual misconduct.
    If the church spent more time ridding the churches of people who actually are using the building, its people, and the word as a shield all of their nefarious doings, instead of judging what is absolutely no one’s business nor should be a tarnish on one’s character, this wouldn’t be a conversation.

      Are you saying a homosexual can become a heterosexual through the life transforming power of the gospel? If so, this line of thinking helps facilitate deception that can ruin lives and leave trails of pain (down low men in relationships with women). I know church folks like to perform for each other and "look" holy by any means. But if you're gay, you're gay. There's no praying it away. Suppressing it, ignoring it, and not acting on it does not make a gay person straight. The desire and attraction to the same sex will always be there.

    9:30 Who is “we”? God said NO!
    Homosexuality is included in a list of sins. So we have to ask, will be allow someone living in habitual alcoholism or criminal behavior to be in the band? The bottom line is you CAN do that, but you CANNOT do it without consequences. The eyes of the Lord are in every place and He sees our motives. Even accepting the communion with habitual unrepentant sin is assessed in scripture and it’s clearly says that people get serious ill and even DIE because of it. God doesn’t compromise or break the rules for you. If you choose to sin, YOU CHOOSE to suffer.

    This scripture can be used for musicians serving in the church. God expects you to obey all His commands and He certainly expects you to not be practicing homosexuality. ‭Nehemiah 10:28-29 NLT‬
    [28] Then the rest of the people-the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to understand- [29] joined their leaders and bound themselves with an oath. They swore a curse on themselves if they failed to obey the Law of God as issued by his servant Moses. They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the commands, regulations, and decrees of the Lord our Lord:
    The modern day church is coming under a curse for willfully disobeying the laws of God. The lack of fear of the Lord will bring a judgement. The temple servants of Israel knew the laws of God and so should we. It is clear that God does not want homosexuality anywhere near His Church:
    ‭Leviticus 18:22 NLT‬
    [22] “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.

    Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:27, and 1 Corinthians 6:9 are still in the Bible. However, so is Psalm 103:1-6, Romans 5:8; 6:23, 10:9, and 1 John 1:9. Real ministry to gay folks is still not happening in the churches like it should. Also, there is difference between being wicked and weak. There are many roots that turn people gay. However, the church still specializes in condemning the branches and leaves of homosexuality instead of casting out and off the roots of it. And by the way, homosexuality is not the only abomination to God. Check out Proverbs 6:15-17 and many other verses about abomination. We all stand level at the foot of the cross. We all need to repent and confess in spirit and in truth, daily. The Lord Jesus loves us all and died for us all. However, He won’t force us to obediently love Him and allow His Spirit to convert and change us. Why? Real love required free will. Otherwise, it’s rape, and God is holy - not a rapist. Lord God sent His Son, Lord Jesus, to die and pay our total sin debts. Next, He sent Lord Holy Ghost to fill us and empower us to be delivered and change to loving and holy. Accepting the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior is and always will be our best choice in life. Also, an equally best choice after salvation is being filled with Lord Holy Ghost the Acts 2:4 way. The church started with bring filled and speaking in tongues. So, it’s just like satan to get most of the churches today to ignore or even despise the filling of Lord Holy Ghost. Let’s get back to organic Christianity with power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus commanded us to be fill with.
