    Please do not stop making these videos. I am a 59 year-old who until about 2006 did not think he had anything marketable, although audience response was rarely less than gushing praise for the quality of my performance and musicianship. In 2006, starting with the unexpected almost miraculous acquisition of my current instrument, God did a number of things in my life that showed me otherwise. Your videos, the two you have produced thus far, have been an enormous boost in the progression from unknown to renowned.
    I am sure there are many others out there with stories similar to mine. Your videos are probably as vital to them as they are to me.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for making these wonderful videos! I've been doing music professionally since the age of 12, but it never was able to do it full time until I started doing all of these tips! Musicians really need to know especially about agents/entertainment companies, especially females musicians as our job is "Go play music at a place you've never been before and hope you don't get murdered" half the time. These companies really connect artists with reputable clients and do all the background checking in advance.
    And congratulations on 1.5k after just two videos!! Wouldn't be surprised at all if you were at 10k next week. Rock on!

      Those places aren’t that difficult to find 😂 might be worth the effort of a text message more than a video.

    Terence, these are great tips. I've had my Afro-Cuban band for 16 years and have played all these types of gigs and YES! they pay well. Thanks for the last tip. I hadn't heard of that web site or thought of that angle. Best of luck on your channel.

    Listen...What finally got me the good paying steady playing gigs was I got up off my ass and begin to not just practice but practice and learned how to read music !...If you can, will yourself to learn how to read music... I never really had a problem getting a good gig because I've been is this profession for over 30 years, however it wasn't until about 7 years ago that I got real serious on practicing reading the manuscript ( something my dad ( RIP Jimmy ) had been telling me that's what I needed to do and should've been doing all along ) Fellows and Ladies You're missing out on a lot of gigs if you don't or can't or care to read music... If I can do it .. I know damn'er ALL OF YOU can do it.. Listen if you can comprehend and Reply to these uploads, then you can practice and learn how to read the manuscript...The majority of us read, speak, and write in one of the most hardest languages on earth to speak and comprehend to i.e. The English language. The reading of music can be and sometimes is challenging and it does take practice but it's very far from impossible.. It can be done and if you want to learn how to do it well enough, then you'll tighten up and get it done.....Peace & Blessings ... Now go play.

    I wanted to add a few other spots..don't forget University's and Colleges they are government so they have a budget call them and ask for events coordinator and also Cigar lounges if you play a solo instrument say violin or sax or flute ..piano these types of instruments are good for those types of spaces ...why .. most times these types of lounges are not looking for a full band they can't afford them ...but they can and Will pay for a solo act all the time even a Vocalist can do a cigar lounge ..what's good About them is if you find the right cigar lounge they may book you for even say a full year out and they may book you all over if they have a franchise ..you could be set for a minute..keep your price low though they don't have alot of money ..so be respectful to the opportunity too ..if they say I can get you only 200 for two nights take it ...that's 400 bucks multiply that times 4 weeks ...yea see what I mean so check out those cigar lounges too

    Exc video. I am all about this and tired of the disrespectful bar owner or restaurant mgr that doesn't care about the music. These are good "under the radar" suggestions and they work. That's all I play. Thanks.

    Gah, weddings. Lol. Travel. Set-up & sound check by 10am - noon. Wait. Wait more. Wait some more. Play your sets 7pm - 10/11pm. Load-out. Travel.
    12-16 hours total for a "3 or 4 hr" gig.

      I play on weddings, it pays reasonably well, nothing to complain, why all the hate? I mean yes, it usually takes whole day, but what work doesn't?

    Love your video content for TH-cam music creators. I've been asked by other TH-cam Musician to collab with them. They want to aing or add background music to a few public-domain songs of mine. What is the beat way for TH-cam musicians to collaborate with each other?

      No, not at all. You should reach out to the coordinators of these conferences and seek to offer your band or act as the entertainment.

    Residencies sound like a great gig but you didn't show how you can get one especially one with free food and drink. what I've found out there is 20 bands or players trying for every gig bar owners know this if your lucky they'll give you 1/2 price on food and drink,

    • @ColleenKitchen
      @ColleenKitchen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Five gigs that pay good. Well now you know they exist if you didn't already. And if you get them you can make bank. But not HOW. Allconferences.com would not load for me.

    • @hourglass9456
      @hourglass9456 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has been my experience that if you play music that people want to hear, are really good at what you do and actually entertain both aurally and visually, engage your audience personally and make them feel welcome to join in, during and after the show, you can separate your band from the other 19. The bar owner will pay you because of the response he gets from the customers and his staff. If you repeat it in another booking there, you can open a discussion of a residency and terms. It has happened for my band 4 times in the last 3 years, and the sky is the limit next year. We stay busy 2-3 times a week and now venues are trying to convince us to play for them, even if we are booked elsewhere. These gigs bring about private opportunities that are far more lucrative and fun. We are lucky, and very grateful that we haven't kept ourselves in a position to play for a 50% discount off menu items. That wouldn't be fun at all!
