One of the major reason why my country is struggling to attract foreign investments are because of the political instability, granted that the democracy in my country is i think quite accomodating to various groups to voice their minds openly to public, but that is also the reason that make the political climate quite volatile at the moment.
Since 2004 there is only 2 "players" in presidential campaign...so i hope after the end of jokowi 2nd terms there will be 3rd party in presidential campaign so that our people will not be too polarized as in right now.
Anyway i think jokowi is the best president our country ever had since the 1st president mr. Soekarno.
Yes, there are some promises of jokowi that is not fullfiled yet, but there is only so much a human being can do..as long as the changes brings positive improvement in different areas people will appreciate what jokowi has done for indonesia.
Lastly i hope the access for free education for the indonesian people will be the one of the main focus of our government aside from focus on human resources improvement.
I'm indonesian and i'm proud of our president mr. Jokowi.

BOYYY you should travel SE Asia more, I grew up at our neighboring country (northern neighbor) 21 years to be exact, and you have no idea how lucky we are right now with our current political atmosphere, sure it's not ideal but it's no way as volatile and as hopeless as the quagmire our neighbor is facing right now. Indonesia's political sphere is loud and scandalous but it's not as consequential as what our neighbor in Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar are facing, to an extent Philippines as well depending on which sides you see it. My parents also use to think that we have the dirtiest politics in ASEAN, that's until we experienced 2 very dirty general elections in our neighboring country did we realize what we have at home is not so bad. We need to stop being so pessimistic about our situation and be more thankful with what we do have, the grass will always look greener on the other side, but if we only want ideal situation I'm sorry to say but that will never happen in Indonesia and in any country actually, bc politics will always be dirty.

@@trihermawan9553 indonesia leadership under SBY is much better. Look at all the metrics from 2004 to 2014. Indonesia clearly performs better in all metrics without any debts (in fact we reduce it). It is Jokowi who introduce minimum wage, it is also him who wanted to abandon it. You see how inconsistent his policy is. Jokowi talks a lot (like economy growth 6% etc) but deliver so little so far. Building infrastructure under significant debt is not an achievement.

    • @trihermawan9553

@@editg121 withou any debt you said? In president Susilo, our debt reach 55% to our GDP Nominal wdym with no debt? All of those debt are spent for Oil subsidise for the people of java only, the development project delayed due massive corruption, wisma athletes project are one of many examples.
The fact that you dare mentioning jokowi did little is hilarious, who start this massive infrastructure project in Indonesia that never been done before, even in 32 years of suharto reign, in a span of 5 years he built 35 seaport and airport, mega high way in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Papua, 7 Dam in NTT & NTB and many more, is that what you called little effort?
Significant debt yeah right, its not like most of the debt he received are inherited from the reign before him, nothing at all, all of those debt are from jokowi *only* , its funny because not only he have to pay the debt from previous administration, and then he built all of these infrastructure, but he manages to maintain the debt below 30%, and here you are still blaming him and his administration for all of those debt, where were you when President Susilo increase the debt to 55% GDP nominal to subsidize oil?

this is a cool documentary but... if we were talking about the achievement of Jokowi during his 5 years reign you can't look at it only on Jakarta's development. Because Jakarta only make up a small portion of Indonesia and it was the one of most advanced city in Indonesia. In a straight line Indonesia covers a distance of more than 5000 kilometers. this is approximately the distance from London to Afghanistan (it's really huge). This is why Jokowi try to create Infrastructure all across the country. if we want to see just how much he has achieved during this short period of time just try look around Maluku or Papua and compare it to 5 years prior of Jokowi's election. Journalist & scientist Elizabeth Pisani state that "Indonesia's diversity is not just geographic and cultural; different groups are essentially living at different points in human history, all that at the same time. Traveling from Jakarta to Maluku Islands can seem like going back in time." due to the disparity between the regions is the main reason Jokowi's Plan taking slower than what it promised.

I think that the key to success for Indonesia are mainly five things, for me as a German Engineer living in Indonesia.
First and most important I think, is better education for all.
(There is no University in Indonesia under the 800 best in the world).
This tells already a lot, I think ?
For me as a German, another thing is quite clear.
Coming from a small country, nearly without natural resources, only a bit coal, mainly in the middle of Germany, we call Rheinland.
Why Germany, a so small country, is the most successfull and most economic powerfull democracy in the so called West ?
So the main reason is education, or human resources, as I already said and second is export of technical advanced products, high quality products. Not of natural resources, I think Indonesia should protect their precious nature and rainforests much more, than now.
Your nature is a very big asset for Indonesia, in my eyes.
So export of advanced products and better education, go hand in hand actually, I think.
Third is fighting corruption, with much higher penalties, and more competencies to the KPK.
Corruption is like cancer, it eats you slowly from inside.
I think the Suharto times are a good example for that.
Fourth is tolerance, especially when it comes to religion.
Mahatma Ghandi said once, "God has no religion", and he is completly right.
So the guys here, with Al Queda or ISIS flags, didnt know whom they support, I think ?
From my visits to Afghanistan and the Middle East, I know that both, Al Queda and ISIS, are creations, funded and financed from the US, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and different Wahabi and Suni Gulf states.
Al Queda in Afghanistan during the occupation of Afghanistan of the Russians (1979 - 1989), to fight the Russians, in Afghanistan.
ISIS in Iraq, mainly to escalate conflict between main Shia population and minor Suni population, but also other reasons.
So the guys here, running around with Al Queda and ISIS flags, show me with this, sorry to say, only their stupidness.
So the fifth and also very important point, for us all and further generations is. Indonesia must reduce their very negative impact, when it comes to pollution.
I think massive national and private education campaigns should effect, regarding avoiding pollution.
And giving the people a feeling and understanding, what our nature for us means ?

    • @mariskad8405
      @mariskad8405 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I never want to go back to Soeharto era again. If you want to do benchmarking, it is fair to compare Indonesia with the US in terms of population number, large areas, and diverse society. Thank you for your insight about education. We do still need a lot of development. Also, environmental awareness.

Jkw may have very long vision for Indonesia, Iam grateful he has been the president. But please remember he is there for 10 yrs. 5 more years remaining. What will happen after he steps down? Any continuity? Remember what happens to Ahok after he stepped down? New guy rose up and tweaked everything he had done.
To envision Indonesia that is stable and out from hoohaa demonstration and to dismiss extremists such as FPI, PA212 are his holy missions. And also to ensure the capital be relocated to Kalimantan will be his massive achievement.

About identity politics.... I once watched a youtube video made by an Indonesian Muslim, she was talking to a guest, as a neutral party trying to understand someone who support all things Muslim, including president. The comments was filled with people agreeing with this guest, and one person said that:
He asked his friend, "What if you had to choose between corrupt Muslim candidate, and non-corrupt non-Muslim candidate?"
His friend answered, "There's no corrupt Muslim person".
This person said back, "But what if?"
His friend mulled it over for a bit, then said, "I will vote for the Muslim president"
    "Even though he was corrupt?"
"Even if he was corrupt. Because that's Allah's decision for us, that is His will, and I as a devout Muslim will follow."
The comment ended with the commenter saying that he understood it is his calling as a Muslim.
I was shaking my head in disbelief. For a faith and an abstract concept, people are willing to forsake the nation. Do they not know the amount of wreckage could be done in 5 years in the hand of a president who doesn't care of the country, but just deepening their pockets? Indonesia has too much to do, too much catch up to be done. Also, these kind of people are the loudest one to complain and criticize the president they choose themselves.

The increasing religious conservatism is a long term effect of soeharto's New Order Regime, during his regime people were basically silenced, you cannot criticize the government, you cannot be too religious, and you cannot be too progressive, when the indonesian people gained their freedom of speech during the '98 reformation, many communities try to emerge and voice their opinions to the public, and of course the Islamic community had the upper hand to do so, in conclusion, soeharto's repressive regime has made the indonesian people prone to ridiculous doctrine, with the addition of social media it only gets worse, so there's another reason to hate soeharto
