    NOOOO!! NOT THE TZ!!! THAT SUUUCKS!!! This is what happens when you have inexperienced turtles on the track! What a shame. Parts are hard to find (Canadian) these days for a TZ. Even back in the 70's/80's it was hard to get replacement parts (fibreglass/reson, cheap) Anyways, it was fun while it lasted! Cheers from British Columbia 🇨🇦

    Late comment but bummer, sorry to see this happen. Having raced 600 Supers years ago I can understand that sometime the smallest things add up to an off. Good to see you were OK and hopefully that beautiful bike is back at it. All the negative comments are probably from staight line R1 SQUIDS.

    The big two strokes are full of mad manners,even the top riders of the day agree. Not having been there watching what happened and only seeing what the camera shows it looked like he just ran of the track, maybe there is more to it than the camera shows.

    Well, that was stupid. And before the flames come, yes I did race a TZ750 at Sears Point and Riverside so I know of what I speak. Going out with a engine with a severely slipping clutch is first faux pax, Second, passing on outside of decreasing radius turn when you don't know the track. Third, you had lot's of lean left so basic panic attack. Fourth, being in a rush to pass in early stage of race.

      Finally some one who has ridden one! I’ve actually done about 60 days there and that corner is probably my favourite corner world wide . So your a big off on most facts. Podium finisher there in other classes….didn’t “go out with a slipping clutch” I cooked it off the line….I’d have realised very soon after that and dealt with it appropriately - was very busy off the line being near the back of the grid.

    As I was watching the race I felt I wouldn’t be very comfortable in that group and then there you go off the track. I wasn’t expecting that. Did some club marshalling eons ago and you kind of get hyper vigilant about those involved in the crash to I guess get everyone clear of the bike. I remember one crash when I first started a guy crashed exiting a hairpin corner and was at the edge of the track. We’re trying to push his bike clear of the track and he’s as expected all amped up trying to remount and return to the race 😂. We we so inexperienced both sides of the equation. He got going once it was clear and bike looked ok. The best part was later the day when the racing was over he returned to acknowledge he could have done better. No one made him do that and I wasn’t expecting he should. Just a cool moment and memory for me. This was very low level club racing. To give a bit of time line perspective he was racing an early 80s Honda 500 Interceptor the V4s were dominant then.

    Thanks for posting. I know it's a few years down the track, but I hope that you're still sending out Christmas cards. There's no such thing as a good stack, but there is definitely such a thing as a bad one. It looks like you walked away relatively unscathed. Bikes are bikes, they are a potentially transient piece of equipment at the end of the day. Your loved ones and your friends most likely have a very different view with regards to your disposability.

    Malcy, on Playstation me and me mates are awesome at Percy Island. Hold the Yellow button down until you see God, then hit the Blue button and try not to kick your big brothers lemonade off the coffee table. Worst thing that can happen is you over react and disconnect the controller from the box. Mum will yell at you for being hard on the equipment. Of course, this advice is more directed at those that have cared enough to share their fountain of wisdom with you in the comments below. Between myself, your good self and those that actually know, Southern Loop is a fantastic corner and it's character presents some challenges. Sometimes, in racing you get bitten. Perhaps, I will see you on the TZ750 again in the future.

    • @Malcytwentyfive
      @Malcytwentyfive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, Peter Brilliant! Though I couldn’t imagine the various Hinton family members I’ve known, playing PlayStation 🤣🤣🤣. Southern loop, seriously one of my most favourite corners in the world. In later years, it was rare to be passed there and I passed a number in there. I’ve seen Glen Hindle out cold on the grass on the exit too!
      This was a post I put on the RGV250 owners Facebook page a few years ago. Hope you enjoy it🤣
      “Geez, what a goombah. Of that's right it was me. I read all these comments and I piss myself laughing at all the key board warriors. None of you know shit about the bike, who I am or what happened. I repeat, none.
      I bet few have the balls to race a $7k bike, let alone a the $70k motorcycle this is, or have raced to any level of experience I have.
      I'll also guarantee you NONE of you have owned or ridden a Yamaha TZ750, None of you have first hand experience with one. I'll also wager few if any of you have done the race miles or miles around Phillip Island. I'm counting something like 60 days there and 800-1000 laps and over 19 visits there from another country. Never mind the 35 years of racing I've done in NZ, Aussie, UK and Belgium, 8 years of instructing, a NZ Grand Prix win, 4 club championships, on even the podium on a 350 in the 500 class at The Island Classic.
      I'll start with the basics on the bike. It;s not a 3 cylinder, it;s not long stroke. It didn't seize, yes it was running fine. I know ever tiny detail of the bike because I have owned this one or another TZ750 for the last 19 years, along with a TZ350 for 23 years and an OW01, and a TZ250U and RS125 Honda. About the only thing that any got right was yes, I had some clutch slip. A none of you obviously race from the ignorant comments, its bloody hard sometimes to hear what your own bike is doing with 30 other bikes on the grid. By third / fourth gear, yes I knew I had slipping clutch. Anyone with TZ750 experience will know that they can get hot, they are a dry clutch and once cool, they may will grip again sometimes not (if not, I would have pulled in). This bike was built to be ridden and ridden hard rather than a garage queen.
      Last time I looked even Mike Hailwood, Marquez and Rossi have fallen of, even the best racers can fuck up. At least I'm doing it, with my bikes and my own money on the line, rather trash talking behind keyboard about how great I never was”
      Seriously need to see you back on a bike and get your uncle to answer his phone, lol.
