This is our attempt to sail the Northwest Passage from Alaska to Greenland! Check back every two weeks for new videos in this series :) Interested in the Sealeaf panels mentioned in the video? They're available here: www.lightleafsolar.com/
I'm so freaking excited. This is the best channel on TH-cam by a mile. Great storytelling, great cinematography, two lovable and humble people with tons of integrity, and just overall amazing adventures for us viewers to enjoy!
@@jsmit9484 love your original post and agree this channel is amazing and one of my favs for all the reasons you beautifully describe. (curious why the hostility in response to giork? It is possible to ask a question but without deriding their intelligence... who knows, maybe they were emphasizing and endorsing that the creators do have so much integrity? Why bring that tone to such a beautiful space that the creators of this channel work so hard to bring to us all ... why not honour them by assuming the best and communicating in this space in constructive ways? Also if giork do have trouble 'processing big words', well is that a reason to be critical?)
Thank You Sohvi and Juho for letting us be with You on this extraformdiable and not so ordinary to day, very demanding sailing adventure. A big Thank You.🇫🇮
I love this channel. The cinematography. Everything. But really it's this guy's accent and voice and delivery. I could listen to him forever. So matter of fact. I guess, very Finnish.
Sohvi and Juho you are two intrepid adventurers and I'll be with you all the way but from the comfort of my sofa. Your videos are always excellent and the cinematography is to a professional standard. Brilliant!
This is why I love TH-cam. I know nothing about sailing and have no idea why your channel was suggested, but I’ve been binge watching the videos for days now. I’m blown away. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! Have a safe journey. I’ll be with you two the whole way. 💕
Congrats, you have the best adventures sailing channel on YT. The NW passage needed to combine the storytelling of the journey with fantastic camera skills. Thanks for creating the great series. Cheers.
Juho, every one of us, has made a stupid mistake and cussed a blue streak. I felt your frustration. You fixed it and moved on. Good on you for no huge drama. Thank you for sharing.
I'm not a sailor (i am a skier though which is what brought me here) but even I can see that what you're doing is is on an entirely different level of sailing from all the other sailing channels I've seen on TH-cam! 😀
The way you can remove engine cover and have almost the entire engine easily available is awesome. Best wishes on the Northwest Passage trip. Love your channel.
'Sitting in the locker in desperation' I could not do these things cuz I would just give up too easily You've gotta have an indomitable attitude to fix mechanical things, meaning you have to cope with challenges and persevere without getting discouraged I have mad respect for this man cuz he is the real deal
Wonderful video. I actually saw your boat in Seward when you were there. We were in the area traveling and visiting Alaska in our School Bus Camper for the summer. We are from Maryland, USA and I work on sailboat electronics and solar systems. Looking forward to watching your northwest passage journey!
You Fins always see to detail properly. Hope the journey succeeds. I remember a sailing ship taking 100 years to turn up off of Svalbard, locked in pack ice. I took a motorbike round Finland in 1975, nice people, lovely country. have a good trip, and more of your excellent videos.
This is such a treat. I spent a few summers commercial fishing around Cook Inlet and Bristol bay. Seeing places I am somewhat familiar with on your voyage is a thrill. I agree with all the other comments, you two are wonderful and deliver the best sailing, adventure content on utube. Oh don’t get me wrong plenty of great channels but this is something a step above and beyond. Thanks to you both!
Loving this update. You have really upped your game with the quality of the videography, the story telling and the adventure. Absolutely loved every moment of it and looking forward to future updates. Honestly this is far far better than many "professional" documentaries with whole film crews. Yours feel far more real, I know it is very real but it has a feel to it that brings us along with you
Stunning cinematography! Thank you so much for taking us along. Can you imagine doing what you're attempting in a wooden boat like Franklins? Or Tally Ho?
What a wonderful video. Seeing all those supplies of food strewn everywhere brought back memories of doing that. We went to Costco in Panama. A real blessing. Somehow, they all disappeared into storage areas. My wife was a true expert at organizing and storing all of this. And fortunately our boat was not like these modern production boats designed to be like a condo at sea with lots of people space but not enough storage or tankage area. We carried 270 gallons of fuel in 3 tanks. All in a 46’ boat. You guys are amazing. Can’t wait to see the rest of your adventure.
This is one of my favorite channels. Incredible job, folks! The quality of the footage is amazing-super professional! It makes my weekends even better! Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences. Greetings from Brazil!
Thank you for this beautiful video and for your talented effort to provide it to us. You are both on an epic adventure. It is a pleasure to watch your videos and follow you on your journey.
Just amazing footage. As a fair weather sailor l am just in awe and humbled by this journey you are both taking. Thankyou for sharing this with us. Beautiful Lumi and all your hardworking preparing her for this passage.
Awesome and thank you, I've loved following you on Instagram and seeing all the work that went into the preparation for your journey was exhausting! Looking forward too the next video
💥WOW💥WOW💥WOW‼️💥What an epic episode. 💯💯💯 IMO, I would call this week’s video a documentary. Thanks again, for giving us a look into your adventures. Your video skills are outstanding ‼️Safe travels. ❤️
I cant even begin to share how much I enjoy following you two. Ive taken many adventures in my life. I have not enjoyed sailing and Im too old to learn. I thank you for having adventures for me to enjoy with you. Smilessss
Really great guys, and despite their high skill levels, never showing off! It is not easy to be exhausted, and film, while also keeping safe. Also getting the editing done, while still in transit. That is a lot.
Here in tropical Chiang Mai, a lot of us have a very good idea what it feels like to be inside a "floating home" whilst a thunderstorm rages outside, and there's water all around with no escape possible. Yes, *_The Great Flood of October '24_* has given us a sense of empathy with sailors despite us being hundreds of kilometres from the Oceans of the world. We salute your adventurous spirit to undertake such experiences on a voluntary basis. I'm so glad the flood has receded, the sun has shined, the storms have abated, we have running water once again and the septic tank systems attached to each house are finally flushing 😅 Were looking forward to the regular reports of your Passage.
Good videos always. Might have said it before but the two of you are tough, really hard bark on the both of you going where you do, the cold, the storms, the risks. Be well and stay safe!
Completely overwhelmed by the starapats and courage you undergo! Very interesting to see how you manage to withstand the weather and resistance! Very impressed! I myself have been to Seward and Anchorage Alaska. Lycka till !
the conscious and proactive preventative maintenance mindset is, to me, the grounding thread that runs through your journeys...safety first - thanks for sharing....
It's been said already, but honestly I don't know what else to say. Absolutely the best content on any platform to ever exist. What an amazing opportunity and you deserve such a great adventure with how much work and effort you put not only into the videos but your learning of knowledge and gaining of seamanship evolving your craft and living out your dreams. Thank you for a glimpse into what seems a far reach for most.
Finally1 I am so happy for you - NWP by sailboat is a lifelong dream of mine! You guys are true adventurers. Cheers, fair winds, Martin. P.S. Nice haircut 🙂
So a video of your major haircut would have been awesome, it must be so different for you after all the years of the dreads! What an adventure, your channel is one of the best, without any doubt, thank you!
WOW! Sohvi and Juho, your cinematography, editing and sound is just amazing. I felt like the bears and I were one digging clams. We are all praying that your Northwest Passage is safe and the weather does not complicate the passage. Just breath taking, thank you both so much for sharing this epic adventure.
Just something you might try for future reference if you hang a heavy tarp off each side and sandbag or 2 * 4 the edges on the ground and then wrap them around like the rudder area kind of tape them to themselves avoid taping the boat as much as you can but then you can put like your heat gun or even a hair dryer or like a red dragon if you're very careful LOL and you can heat the air around the base of the boat where you're painting and make it nice and toasty and it's much easier
Stay safe out there and hats off to the energy, effort and committment to this passage. Fatigue makes for poor decisions so I hope you and Sohvi get the rest needed. And you are one lucky Finn to have found Sohvi as there aren't many out there that share this type of passion for adventure and all the hard knocks that go with it.
@@AlluringArctic Great to hear you are able to find the time to get some rest between watches given the stessful and tiring conditions out/up there. Take care!
I admire your sense of adventure and the courage to do this trip. Not many people can say they've wandered into this part of the World. Good Luck with your journey.
It was fun tracking you guys live, now it will be even more fun seeing all the places you were in. Congratulations! I'm curious as to why you decided to winter in Greenland. I'm sure you'll show us in time.
We have been following you both for a long time now and still look forward to your videos. Thankyou for sharing your travels with us. Take care both and keep safe in your crossing . 😊😊
Excelente video en su contenido y elaboracion. Un video que inspira. Bravo! Deseando seguir vuestras proximas aventuras en los proximos videos. Saludos desde Malmö, Suecia
Nobody does this! You two are living legends! So courageous, what an amazing adventure. I’m hoping that you can continue to document your passage on TH-cam. You might just be the first You Tube channel that I become a patron of, I’ll see what I can do. Stay safe!
The camera work is wonderful. I don't normally follow sailing channels once the work to build or repair the boat is finished. But your camera work keeps me watching.

"integrity"

I love how my fellow Alaskans helped you out. A good bunch!
Great shot of the bears with Lumi in the background.
This is the sort of meticulous boat prep that makes one safe for an adventure trip through the NW passage.
What a special privilege to watch another one of your interesting videos. Thank you.
