      I returned it. My first experience with VR and I have to say, there is no worse way to play games I've ever experienced in my life and I will never go back to VR again as long as I live. I hated every single aspect of the experience. Never again as long as I live.

    I got a 20000mah powerbank with a 22.5w power output and that lasts around 8 hours while allowing the battery to stay above 70% so it doesn't overheat and I just keep it in my pocket. For comfort I actually like cloth straps to lay down with but adding a headstrap pad accesory made it very comfy to wear. Just waiting for a good facial interface replacement now.

      same here, the 30,800mAh 25 Watt power bank I got from Amazon over a year ago for my Quest 2 is giving me 8 extra hours on my Quest 3. I use it with the original strap by sliding it between the 2 overlapping straps in the back of the original Quest 3 strap.

    Coming from a Reverb G2, the Quest 3 is more of an upgrade then people think. Yes, the G2 has a higher native resolution but the focal point is TINY with the older style lenses. So even though the Quest 3 has a slightly lower res, the pancake lenses are SOOO much better and you are no longer stuck finding that sweet spot for a clear image. That alone made me sell my G2 for a Quest 3.

    • @YourBroOreo

      Resolution is not the accurate measurement for VR headsets. Instead, you use PPT. I bought the 512GB Quest 3 and Once I picked it up from Best Buy. I got home and the Amazon Truck just dropped off my Aftermarket Headstrap and Silicone Skin Kit. Perfect Timing.
    I never even installed the original strap. Went straight to the comfortable quick release button headstrap and installed the silicone face cushion cover and Grips for the Controllers that have straps for the hands.
    First time turning this on and doing the setup was easy and quick. The Image Quality is much better than I was expecting from a Standalone Headset. It is absolutely worth it. The built in battery doesn't last very long due to the powerful processor. Similar to My Steam Deck and Asus ROG ally Hand Held Gaming Consoles. They also don't last very long. So a Powerbank is a must have. Luckily, I already have several of em. I plugged in my Quest 3 to my Anker Powercore 3 Elite 87w 26,800mah Powerbank and Managed to get a whooping 12 hours of gaming in before needing a Recharge. I use this Quest 3 daily. I've had the PSVR2 since launch, and my Q3 will be arriving today with the elite head strap, Charging dock & Silicone User Interface. Pretty stoked to see what these Pancake lenses are like, having ring-less controllers, a slim front visor, the fact that it's wireless(I've never used a Quest 2 before so this is my first, which should be a game changer for stand-up VR) and of course it's AR feature.
    But I'm not looking forward to it's LCD display, with it's supposed milky blacks, less vibrant colours, the fact that it's much weaker than a PS5(Instead it's in between a PS4 & PS4 Pro, while utilizing over 2K per eye), it doesn't have eye tracking & foveated rendering for better performance, weaker haptics, no adaptive triggers and won't have anything that can come close to matching something like Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil 4: VR Mode just because it doesnt have Capcom's support or the power to run those games properly.
    I wish Meta released a Quest 3 Pro along side with Q3 with a Micro-OLED display, Eye tracking & FR, Adaptive triggers and the ability to connect wirelessly(or Wired) to a Series X to game the same horse power as a PSVR2.

      Quest 3 is a home run. 100% no brainer. The official charging dock, Elite Strap, Silicone User Interface and getting a chrome cast for TV casting are also a must.
      PSVR2 on the other hand has too many problems. But if you can fight through the PSVR2's tethered cable, awfully small sweet spot, major lack of comfort due to the lack of nose padding(It winds up resting on the bridge of my nose based on my head shape), OLED Mura, crappier motion, god rays etc, you might still be in for a good time.
      It's worth getting imo, just for Resident Evil Village. That's the holy grail VR showcase. Then there's RE4: VR Mode, Vertigo 2, Moss: Book 2, and a few others. Once I'm finished up a few more titles I'm boxing this thing up and just sticking with Quest 3. Going back to VR2 is just rough for numerous reasons. I really hope Sony does a revision, because as is this thing doesn't have a change at selling well no matter how many good exclusives it gets.

      I just feel like Steam/PC VR will forever be a niche, even if consumer VR actually explodes by lets say 2030 with PSVR3 and Quest 5. Once we get affordable consumer based VR/AR with 4K per eye, Micro-OLED, 120d FOV, with headsets transitioning into a glasses-like form factor that's when VR/AR will truly catch on with the masses. Plus, motion duplication from 60fps reprojection seriously needs to go somehow. I guess 90fps needs to be the default standard for now to by pass that nasty effect.
      Most people don't want to wear a headset on their head, and 2K per eye probably isn't good enough for most people, especially for AR, and the Quest 3 doesn't really have that many 3rd Party AAA heavy hitters either. There isn't anything that can match the quality of Resident Evil Village or RE4: VR Mode on PSVR2. It's going to take a Quest 5 in late 2029 to come 'close' to the power of a Vanilla PS5. Yet the PS5 Pro will launch later in 2024 with at least 20 Teraflops, making it 2x as powerful as PS5. lol. Quest will never be able to catch up. By 2029? The PSVR3 wirelessly connected to a PS6 will be in a completely different league than Q5 power wise. But it's not all about graphics, once you get to a point it should be good enough for most people.
      Stand Alone VR is cool and all, but i prefer the idea of using a VR/AR Glasses/goggles with a wireless connection to a powerful console, with zero image compression and minimal additional latency. PSVR2 is the closest thing to that at this point, but it's held back by the cable, fresnel lenses, bulky front visor, ring'd controllers, OLED mura and discomfort around those nose area.

      @@NintenZoid84Even though I agree with you that PCVR is a niche, I should add my pinch of salt. First of all - it is kinda easy to port game on PCVR. Most of the time you develop it as PCVR game first, and then port somewhere, because development is on PC itself. So that's why we probably will get ports of PCVR for a long time. @@nny156 I dunno, default head strap is a little better in quest 3 than quest 2. It is generally an improvement to change it to another more rigid one however not necessary. Yeah battery a little weaker on the device, I didn't notice any difference comparing the two (haven't done any reviewer style\scientific tests though). I think reviewers overblow the problems, especially necessity of the headstrap. It's the same as for quest 2. May be if you use quest 2 for full battery life at once you will notice a little shortage

    There are quite a few issues with Quest 3 headset: 1 - the most important is the microphone (it sounds awful, compared to Quest 2 and the problem can not be fixed, because it is caused by placement of physical microphones themselves), 2 - controller tracking above your head (there are several reviews that mention this issue -> removing the rings on the controllers and putting the tracking cameras in the front of the headset, instead of cameras facing up, like they were in Quest 2, certainly, made it worse compared with Quest 2), 3 - flimsy facial interface adjustment mechanism for the glasses (for some reviewers it broke after few weeks of usage -> I am not convinced, that it could last for several years), 4 - processor overheating (the cooling system is similar to that of Quest 2, though the processor is twice as fast (and power hungry) (it leads to artifacting and, sometimes, to other malfunctions), 5 - battery life is low -> you need a very powerful (and high capacity, meaning heavy) power bank for longer gaming sessions. There are several other issues, but they are more associated with user preferences: tilted LCD screens in Quest 3, that (according to some users) make aliasing more visible in this headset, position of the headphone jack (placed on the right side - some headphone model cables not reaching the jack because of it), etc. Over all, this headset, for its price, should be almost perfect, but, unfortunately, it's far from that. Not to mention, that after buying the headset, you need to buy accessories, to make your gaming experience comfortable (what makes your headset even more expensive).

    • @MrKinein
      @MrKinein 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you tried it?
      As a user of several headsets and owner of Quest 3 I should say that most of your points are valid in theory but in practice it doesn't really matter. 1 - the microphone - really can't tell coz don't play socially. By reviews it is worse but not awful, it's usable and even can be quite good in some models\on some heads. 2 - never noticed tracking problems, from my tests tracking is better and faster than for quest 2. 3 - yeah you right it flimsy, flimsy when you fiddle with it. If you use it rarely and carefully you'll never have any problems. 4 - overheating? I dunno, never saw it. If you avoid adding bumper-case for headself itself it should be okay. May be it will get hot, but you will not notice it in any way. 5 - Battery life is okay. It's problematic if you play high end game at 120 hz or mixed reality games. But for example in beat saber headset works for 2 hours or more, it is way more than what my playtime is. And Quest 2 never had good longevity either.
      Other issues you've listed are negligible too. They can be a problem, but only for a minority of users. Yes you probably need to add accessories for the full potential, but it was again the case for Quest 2 too.
      As of "it should be perfect for that price" - oh common. It is only 500 dollars. It is definitely on the cheap side compared to the market. If you recall the Quest 2 was at the time at $400 price tag, also add some inflation compensation, and you'll get something in that ballpark

      @@MrKinein I have Quest 2 and use it a lot. I mostly "play" social games and microphone is very important for me. Now that the Quest 3 is more common, I noticed that, people (in those games), who are using Quest 3 in most of the cases sound worse, than people using Quest 2 (some of them previously had Quest 2 and noticed that themselves) -> it's bad. Also, they showed/demonstrated to me, that tracking above the head is actually worse (than Quest 2) in some situations -> that is another minus. Almost all of the people were complaining about battery life and how they had to connect their headsets to the chargers during the game (also mentioning that the PC link almost doesn't charge the headset at all). The new thing, that I found out is, that the FPS wasn't as high as you would expect from the new and 2X more powerful processor -> 35 FPS for the Quest 3 vs. 25 FPS on Quest 2 (on the same location). For those people, who play more actively and clean the facial interface more often, the flimsiness of the mechanism could really become an issue in the future (Quest 2 was like a brick - you simply didn't need to worry about taking off the interface very carefully for washing). The price point is valid -> 300 USD Quest 2 (128 GB) vs 500 USD Quest 3 (128 GB) -> 200 USD difference is quite large (you can buy normal head strap, a good power bank and some other accessories or games for this money). I understand that Quest 2 is already getting outdated, but Quest 3 for its price simply isn't as good as Quest 2 was in it's time.

      I have Quest 2 and Quest 3. For me both have comparable batteries. Didn't notice any problems there. It is not big, but it depends on what type of user you are. I'm using VR for an hour on average. Can use it several times a day. But need some break in between.
      From my experience battery pushed hard in this cases: when you play with friends online, when you play with friends offline (you give VR to others), when watching films, mixed reality drains battery quite faster
      As for most of VR games, you expect from 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes of the gameplay. If you connect charger or PC then you'll get more battery.
      It's your choice. I don't think that there will be hardware change in the any nearest future. The battery problem is the problem with almost all wireless VR. And it's not that big of a deal in my opinion. Just go for battery strap if it is that worrying for you.

If you are using the actual head strap it comes with after numerous hours of playing, you notice it rips your hair out. but its really comfortable, you can get 1-2 hours of gameplay with the headset, and if your looking for a third party headset i would recommend bobo one. you can get a battery thing with it giving you an extra hour of gameplay, and the actual pro headtsrap is around 70 dollars and it snaps frequently. also, i don’t recommend re charging it everyday as people notice the headset burning after a while -due to leaving it for too long // over 100% for too long.- it will melt the headset. Dont buy 3rd party chargers either. i also recommended to get a strap for your controllers or just be careful.

      Yeah I see what you're trying to tell. However you need to understand that Meta subsidising VR headset. That means that they sell it at a loss. Just as a step up from quest 3 would be Bigscreen Beyond. It's a good step up if we compare PCVR only, and it is kinda small one if we compare whole package. Even not a step up at all. And get this - Bigscreen beyond at least twice as pricy (no controllers or trackers in the package)
      So what I want to say is that midrange PCVR would cost more than 1000 dollars if we exclude subsidising. Even valve index if we include inflation will cost more. And in reality PCVR is not as good thing to sell. It is niche of a niche (PCVR for PC gamers). So noone looks here.

I can't stress this enough !! the games are around 4 gigs each, at the moment...at that rate after system requirements you have about 100 gigs of free memory in the 128 gig version...that is a lot of games..a lot of space..( 25 games )..it's not a problem.

      Which packs did you buy and do you need a special USB C cord to properly power the Quest 3?

      I dunno, I love vr but play 1-2 hours at max at once

    I have feeling the review is not fully correct and missed some new facts. If you're only PCVR gamer, you STILL not recommend 512GB? Who are you? Oh yeah, you have a lot Quest games there, then that is okay.
    But i don't spend money on Quest store, because i am PCVR gamer. I have many games in Steam, why buy again for Quest? That is why i choose 128GB version.
    Tracking is not more perfect on Quest 3. If you're still very critical about tracking, go for Quest 2.

    • @MrKinein
      @MrKinein 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree about storage. Moreover, even for non PCVR player 128 gb probably is okay too. Yeah if you download 3 biggest games on the market you will pack your storage to the brim. But you can play 1 or 2 big games at once. If we talk about other games like ping pong, beat saber etc, then we will see storage size of 5-7 gb. You can put 10 games there and it will be okay

    • @MrKinein
      @MrKinein 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As for tracking - I dunno, I never noticed problems, and no rings mean you can put controllers closer togenther and never accidentally slap the headset with a controller

    The only thing I don't like is how long it takes to transition from controllers to hand tracking it takes 2 minutes on ny headset and the terrible battery life mine last just over 1 hour I might drop it down to 90hz from the standard and see if it helps the battery life but so far so good I only use my Quest 3 for working out, watching shows in Meta Horizon Worlds, Mixed Reality games and as a monitor for my Macbook Pro and i use my PSVR2 for VR games as it still can't beat in terms of immersion as the Quest doesn't have headset haptics or adaptive triggers on it

    I would get the 128gb for now because meta will release quest pro 2, with everything quest 3vhas plus micro oled screens, clearer pass through, and the face and eye tracking to compete with apple vision next year

      It will be more expensive though, the quest 3 is already too much for most people, the quest 2 still sells faster then the Q3.

    Actually the 512 GB version IMO isn’t worth it. For 1 who has 512 gb worth of games on a Vr headset. 2 most of the games are story related and once you beat them what’s the point of having them installed?. And 3 who is playing 512GB of games I personally only switch between 4-5 games not saying their the only games I play but are the main ones I stick with obv when I buy a game a install it and play it. But for an extra 150$ for a feature that may not even help some isn’t worth it IMO.

    Quest 3 is literally like Mark Zuckerberg himself - a product On Life Support y'all! it needs so many additional accessories/helps with an overpriced tag.

      It depends of what you need and what you want. For an average consumer it is easy to use fun device. If they enjoy VR a lot, yeah then you need to pay more for additional stuff (comfort, battery life). In my experience with "an average consumer" battery or comfort is not a problem at all. Even more - better headstraps are harder to use

      I own quest 3 and I like it a lot. A better head strap is nice but not entirely necessary. VR is such a unique experience I just don't care about the extra 50 dollars I spend. I don't know what you guys are talking about It costs like 1/2 as much as a new phone is 100x cooler

    they can't use a external storage for app because of android, android removed this, in older phone with like 8gb of storage and android 4 where possible to install app on an external micro sd, but android removed that so since meta use android for the os is not possible exept if they make a new os from scratch, and since that would cost a lot of money and time and they also lose all the infrastructure that they have build if they do this that is not possible, so actually is not possible for meta even if they want to add external storage app

    The passthrough is very underwhelming. I suspect there will be a class action lawsuit against Meta for falsely advertising the passthrough as looking better than it does in their ads.
