Thank you very much sir. I'd been driving around for months, suffering in high 90s heat. Did this and now my ac blows colder than my wife's car that just came from the shop.
Just went through this, I went to the AC compressor clutch relay and jumpered the socket... once the low side got up in pressure, I put the relay back in and life is good. The AC clutch will normally cycle to keep high side pressure from getting too high, and to keep the evaporator from icing up.
It also goes to show how untrustworthy mechanics can be. I called a few places to see what they would charge. Some were just crazy. Glad this was found. Saved a bunch
Now, this is some good information for sure brother. I had that same problem with one of my older vehicles and this video sure would've come in handy back then. Thanks for sharing my friend.
I have to agree with all the positive comments on this thread. Jumped out the sensor and filled the AC with Freon in about two minutes. I have a 2008 Ford Explorer with 236K on it. You helped me add a longer life to it. Cold AC and now I’m heading to the shore.
Great video!! Don't bypass switch too long, because refrigerant has oil in it also. Running compressor too long will burn it out. That's why the super heat switch is there to prevent pump damage. Back when I started A/C work oil was added separately and precisely measured. It was also R12 ,😄
What if the switch has two terminals? Mine does.. wording on wire states one compressor HP and the other compressor LP. Do I just jump the low pressure one Only?
@@boebradley867 my Toyotas have dual function, four wire switches, one disables the compressor because the pressure is too low, one disables it when the pressure is too high..
THANKS BROTHER! I was fixing to jumper a wire from the battery to the leg of the relay that controls the clutch. Your plug bypass was simple and effective since the plug was 4" from the freon port. We couldn't understand why the 2001, S10, compressor would not cut on. Good ole TH-cam will make you smart! (Low pressure sensor) Then I got enough Freon in, that it was starting and stopping, like in your video. It still wouldn't accept any freon. With the paper clip in place, it took Freon until it wouldn't take any more. A little over a can. Temp at the vent with a temp laser. 36 degree. Oh yea!!!
Replaced the sensor 2 times thought it was that. freon was in the green. Jumped connector and it said it was low. Added freon and it works. Thank you for your video!
Thanks!!! Only site visited that could address my problem. My problem ended up being a bad connection at the pressure sensor. Fluid was fine but the compressor was not kicking in! Cleaned connection and working fine!

Me and my dad are having the same problem with our van. Vacuumed the system and when we went to put the refrigerant nothing would get sucked in. Sent this over to my dad and hopefully it will work ! I appreciate your video liked and subscribed!
If not this, be sure you are using a tap designed for the new self sealing r134a cans. That can cause problems for people too with the new design if you are using old tools.
@@FarmDad makes sense! But we rented the gauges from oriellys and got the r134a 12oz cans. Everything else worked fine just after vacuuming and trying to refill nothing would get put back in. So fingers crossed this will solve the problem.
@@shwab4life1 yes it did end up working. Had to do it a couple times to get the paper clip in the right holes but I’m driving right now in this az heat with my ac !!!
Thank you this happened to my car. My system held the vacuum but when I went to put new refrigerant in it started to take it then nothing. I took my car to a shop who told me my compressor was bad and a lower intake hose and the price was unreal to have them fix it but what made me walk away is when he tried bringing the price down as if to give me a deal. I will definitely try this and let you know. 🤞

This is exactly what happened to me and it didn’t seem to take in any of my 134A refrigerant. I was fluctuating up-and-down and I didn’t look at the compressor So I’m gonna try this tomorrow thank God for your video awesome!
Thank you so much!!! Was doing this on my lbz and was freaking out because I couldn't figure out why the clutch wasn't staying engaged. I'll be doing this tomorrow for sure!
this is good advice and it brought a compressor stop and going problem to my attention to my knowledge so thank you , unfortunately before i could try the paper clip trick after i unplugged that connector my car didnt want to turn back on and killed the battery
Had the issue of the compressor not staying engaged, finally b4 recharging it quit coming on altogether. The pressure gauge on the a.c. refrigerant bottle says the pressure is too high, so I let off all the pressure manually, pressure is still too high & ive tried jumping it from the low side & from the fuse box/a.c. relay(30 & 87)......nothing.....does this mean my compressor is shot? Lol or am I just not doing somethin right? Confuzzled 🙃🤔
Living in Las Vegas, 117 degree weather and an AC I though was completely shot. Thank you for the video. I finally won't be burning up in my car anymore. Haha.
@@FarmDad and it will be again. every year is the same. Whoever parks outside without a roof is burned. Lucky who has a roof in their job and has a garage and park inside, cause I have seen so many stupids with the garage full of shit and parking outside, WTF is that? or worse they transform the garage into part of the house and make another room.
Dude! I had given up and was about to give in and take my truck to a shop because this 105 degree Texas heat is too much for no ac. Paperclip fix for the WIN!!!!

When I watch tutorials like yours and makes me feel safer doing it. Thank you again 😊
Tired it out on my 03 Suburan and did not work. System would not take a drop its os low very little pressure when you push the needle valve down. Guess its time to dish out some cash at a shop unless you have other ideas. Thank for the video.
Are you using older tools with a new refrigerant can? They changed to cans with a rubber seal about a year ago and old style can taps do not work with them.
that happened with my 2007 tahoe the ac compressor kept turning on and off i was already thinking about buying a new one but i saw your video and it solved it thank you very much.
Well 💩 why didn't I see this video before hot wiring the compressor on my daughter's '05... But I'm used to hotwiring, easiest way to do most tractors... Good video!! Thank you!!
Well, I thought it would be good. Still won't take freon, even though the gauge cycles down to 0 now. Was cycling 15-35 before every few seconds. It's an old can of freon, don't think it would leak down pressure, as freon should be the "pressure" gas to fill with. Might be time to buy a new can of freon though. More YT research ahead.@@FarmDad
Ac compressor is engaged but won’t take the Freon any suggestions .I used stop leak refrigerant in the old one and believe there might of been some in the lines even tho I vacuumed it because when I installed the new compressor the clutch engages before I even added any Freon ... I’m lost

@@FarmDad makes sense! But we rented the gauges from oriellys and got the r134a 12oz cans. Everything else worked fine just after vacuuming and trying to refill nothing would get put back in. So fingers crossed this will solve the problem.
@@ivanarellano2515 did it work?
@@shwab4life1 yes it did end up working. Had to do it a couple times to get the paper clip in the right holes but I’m driving right now in this az heat with my ac !!!
Thank you this happened to my car. My system held the vacuum but when I went to put new refrigerant in it started to take it then nothing. I took my car to a shop who told me my compressor was bad and a lower intake hose and the price was unreal to have them fix it but what made me walk away is when he tried bringing the price down as if to give me a deal. I will definitely try this and let you know. 🤞
This is exactly what my truck is doing so thanks a lot and wish me luck 🇺🇲
Hope it worked out for you.
thank you very much for your response. It worked great! my condenser was broken when I bought the car. So I was very disapointed when I could not get fre-on in! Your explanation makes lots of sense. Yor fooled the switch! humans rule!.... thanks again
Glad you are fixed up!
Wow this worked! Crazy happy! Thanks man!
Welcome! Glad to hear.
Dude that was so easy and totally did the trick. would have never thought of that!!! Thanks and good luck to you, appreciate the help, it saved me a trip to the shop 🍻
Glad to hear it buddy!
This is exactly what happened to me and it didn’t seem to take in any of my 134A refrigerant. I was fluctuating up-and-down and I didn’t look at the compressor So I’m gonna try this tomorrow thank God for your video awesome!
Cool. Hope you get it all charged up tomorrow!
I thought I wouldn't find a troubleshooting video on this issue, but here it is!! Thanks!! I'm gonna go try it!!
Hope a cool car is in your future!
This was the videos I’ve been looking for for like 3 days now
Glad you finally found me! Not many people working on AC right now!
You had me at “Farmer.” I will certainly be attempting this fix.
Thank u.
Appreciate you.
Thank you so much!!! Was doing this on my lbz and was freaking out because I couldn't figure out why the clutch wasn't staying engaged. I'll be doing this tomorrow for sure!
In my opinion, the lbz is the best Duramax ever made. Welcome!
Excellent! This worked, thank you so very much! ❤
Most welcome
New subscriber!! You saved me 150 bucks!
@@linko90 awesome and thank you!👊
This worked perfectly for my 2002 Chevy Silverado. Thank you very much!
Great!
Thanks buddy! Gonna try this today I was pulling my hair out getting frustrated the other day lol hope this works I have a good feeling!
Hope you have cold air soon!

Awesome!
I appreciate it buddy keep putting them videos out there cause you learned a lot by them
Will do!
From the bottom of my heart and wallet, Thank you 🙏🏽
Happy to help!
Thank you!! after months of trying to fix, you nailed it! thank you good sir!
Glad you got it fixed. Wish you had found this video sooner!
this is good advice and it brought a compressor stop and going problem to my attention to my knowledge so thank you , unfortunately before i could try the paper clip trick after i unplugged that connector my car didnt want to turn back on and killed the battery
worked on my freightliner buddy , thank you
Your the mannnn!!! Shout outs from chicago brotha!!!
Haha, thanks! Stay cool, bud!
This video help me out a lot saved me time and money . Still might have a slow leak but for now it's working fine on my 2005 chevy 1500 thanks
Most welcome! Glad to hear that.
I didn’t know I needed this video until I saw it.
You just made my summer dawg thanks I also drive a 2002 chevy Silverado 2500hd and I saw u got the 2003 one good looks
Glad to help! They are good trucks.
Living in Las Vegas, 117 degree weather and an AC I though was completely shot. Thank you for the video. I finally won't be burning up in my car anymore. Haha.
I've heard it's crazy hot out there right now. Ouch
Great video got me recharged without a bunch of hassle
Glad to hear it!
been looking for a video like this! 👍🏼
Glad you found me 👍
Dude! I had given up and was about to give in and take my truck to a shop because this 105 degree Texas heat is too much for no ac. Paperclip fix for the WIN!!!!
Glad you didn't have to take it in. 👍
Brother you are a genius looking forward to trying this
Hope it gets you cooled down. Thanks!
Worked for me on my 07 Escape, thanks brother!
Glad to help!
Thank you so much I learned a lot from your video. I never knew that the clutch clicking on & off was keeping the refrigerant from going in. That’s going to save me a lot of money in the future. & I did liked & subscribed :) but just a request. When you do a video like this one. You started by showing that the refrigerant/coolant, wasn’t going in. would you please continue the video & show the gauge actually working & filling in the system. When I watch tutorials like yours and makes me feel safer doing it. Thank you again 😊
Good tip. I appreciate your advice 👍.
Glad to help! 07 Tahoe's are good rigs. 👍
Awesome video did the trick for my old, old Chevy Truck. Thanks
Glad it helped! Old trucks are the best trucks.
Thanks for the tip because I fixed my own ac!!!
Awesome 👍.
Well 💩 why didn't I see this video before hot wiring the compressor on my daughter's '05... But I'm used to hotwiring, easiest way to do most tractors...
Good video!! Thank you!!
Haha, had to use those macguiver skills, didn't ya!
@@FarmDad every day 🙄🤣😂
my compressor is running every other minute or so, will this method work because i tried to recharge and car was not adding any
Should work
Just tried it and it worked for me, I thank you!!
Most welcome bud!
Thanks Farm Papi, just the video i was looking for!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the video. My clutch was cycling and wouldn't take freon. So paper clip and jump and now it's good.
Awesome. Stay cool!
I’m lost
Did you ever solve it?
