Remember to check the starter fly wheel, I replaced my clutch, but notices the fly wheel gear was all marked up. I figured it was bad, but put it back together. Well it didn't work, bought a new one on Ebay 36 dollars, will try again
After I replaced the starter clutch and put the cover back one the starter motor doesn’t turn at all like it did right because I took it apart. Any known reason for this?
Wow this video is old. I doubt if this question will get an answer. You should be able to turn a starter by hand in order to see if it's not locked up correct?? The reason that I'm asking is that I have gotten two new ones that are as bad as the original one. I don't have a recoil starter to see if this motor is locked up or not. Any suggestions??
You might be able to remove starter and use a screw driver to attempt to roll engine over. Pull spark plug amd try rotate. Its been a long time and i dont remember that quad real well. Worst case you pull stater cover to get to flywheel and then turn by hand. Reading your question again are you talking about turning motor or starter motor over? Starter motor should spin no problem.
The Answer I got from Artificial intelligence: If your Kawasaki Bayou ATV has a bad starter clutch, it may be difficult or impossible to start it using the electric starter. The starter clutch is responsible for engaging the electric starter with the engine's crankshaft. If it's faulty, the electric starter may not turn the engine over properly. In such a case, you may need to resort to pull starting the ATV, which can be more physically demanding. However, if the starter clutch is the issue, you might still encounter difficulties with pull starting because the engine's internal components may not engage as they should.
Man have I been trying to figure out how to press that alternator rotor on. I figured something was off having play in that gear behind it. Your atv is running good just pushing it on as far as you did in this video?
Not sure which part you are talking about, the rotor that has the one way clutch? You have to spin it as you put it on to alkow bearings to move into place. If thats the part it only goes on so far. Yes atv was a beast. Fast little quad. Sold long time ago.
thank you. we looked everywhere to find a two arm that would fit, with no luck or spending a little fortune. neighbor finally brought one over and popped it right off.
I have a problem where you hit the starter button and it sounds like the starter is not able to turn the engine over , and you can't pull start my 2003 Kawasaki Bayou 250 . It snatches back when you pull on the rope. What does it sound like. Good video only ,like me the audio isn't very good. But hey thanks for showing us how to change the starter clutch . When I put a charger on it and turn it to start it try's to turn the starter over , don't know if the starter is bad ,the starter clutch or the starter relay. Any help is appreciated.
jerry c sounds more internal. If you can’t pull start it either. Pull spark plug and see if it easier. Is it in gear? Sounds like internal to me. If you are close to central Florida I can help you!
Can the starter clutch cause it to make it hard to pull , had it started before. I bought it and my son said the carburetor needed cleaning , then noticed the starter didn't work he said he had to pull start it. Now you can't hardly pull start it , it sat up outside.
If the keyway has any slack then it can walk off, the mass of the pulley and throttle changes with play in the keyway allows movement which walks bolt lose and then flywheel comes loose any shaft any crank with keyway or splines nut comes loose due to relative movement.
Be great if volume was turned up

It also said it would be tight on the power stroke. (About to fix mine tomorrow)

It was just a old two arm claw type puller, im sure they make a proper one thats made for that spacific app.
thank you. we looked everywhere to find a two arm that would fit, with no luck or spending a little fortune. neighbor finally brought one over and popped it right off.
Just put the crank bolt on and tap it with a hammer while pulling on it and it will come off

@@flatheadcat78 not to far 4 miles from Augusta, Ga. , do you think possibly a starter clutch or engine ?
jerry c engine the way it sounds

jerry c no starter clutch won’t make it hard to pull or electric start. You have other issues.
What fluid goes back n starter clutches
Bradley Gerrells no fluid, engine oil only.
352Engineering thanks man
My flywheel keeps walking off any idea why?
tiger zero walking off? Keyway good? Bolt or nut torqued correctly? What kind of quad?
