    Good clear video with clear Instructions. This type of video is always useful as there will be new people to motorcycles and similar vehicles with basket clutches ( plus other mechanisms) and knowing the things to be mindful about certainly helps.

    Great video. I'd like to see you work on an older model, say an 87. It's a little bit different. And you explain in detail. Unlike so many other videos. Great job.

      Thank you for the comment, I would love to do that, it's a good idea and I don't think there is quite as much information on TH-cam about older DRs, the issue is finding one that is not a basket case and for a reasonable price. Used bikes these days are so over priced. I would love to find a 350 as well. At some point the right deal will present itself. Thank you again.

    Great video. Good explanation and warnings. Attention to detail that's the key.

    It's been my experience, on (abused?) sport bikes, you can have notching in the clutch basket fingers from the friction plate tangs hammering on it. Will definitely making clutch action a little less progressive feeling 👍

      Thanks Eric, that would make a lot of sense for sure. I don't think the old klf400 puts out quite the same HP as your zx7 lol

    I replaced the pedal gear shift shaft and had to removed the clutches so this was helpfull. Those nuts on the clutches were extremely hard to undo. I had to throw everything at it to undo it. Good thing I didn't damage the clutch housing but the nut got a little damage. The rest went well..

    My bayou jumps when put into gear and stalls when brake is applied . How do i know if the idle is too high or if the primary clutch is stuck

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@tleonard410 sounds like a high idle issue. The manual states to set the idle as low as possible which is not much help. I would turn the idle down as low as reasonable and see if that helps. Otherwise you may need to open up the side cover and inspect

    Could you make a video showing how to adjust the lower screw for the shift lever? I haven't been able to find a good explanation in the manual or online. I bought one of these quads last year and have been fixing it up for trail riding.

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can but the quad is not here at the moment, it's at my sister's for the winter.

    Replaced the clutch pack on my klf300 just like you did but when I run the engine there is a ticking noise coming from behind the clutch cover. Any pointers as to what I might have done incorrectly? Your reply appreciated

    In your opinion, if the secondary clutch bearing housing cover had a broken corner at one of the 4 bolt area would it cause my bayou not to go in gear?
    Also at the primary one of the e ring came off the spring retainer on mine.

      Thank you for the question. It is very hard to determine an issue without seeing it on person. Please remember I'm not a mechanic but just a person who likes to tinker. It does sound like the clutch has seen a bit of work over its life, if there are broken covers and missing clips it is possible there is damage deeper in the system. Will it go into gear with the bike turned off?

    the primary clutch for these things OEM are insane priced, this looks like an aftermarket which only one i've found is centric, any feedback on oem or aftermarket on that? thanks!

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did use an after-market clutch for the primary clutch for the replacement but found the clutch drum itself was machined wrong and would bind on the shaft when tightened. I measured the thickness of the oem unit, and it was within spec and not overheated, so I gutted all the new clutch shoes and springs and rebuilt the pack. It seems to work well for us. However, our unit gets very little use at our camp.
      Hope this helps

      thank you. I was thinking to do the same thing for light use...just the pads and springs. May try it! i only use mine for getting around property and spraying , nothing heavy duty so maybe i'll have good luck also.
