I love these videos on the 3D printed Eclipson planes! You guys have so many great scratch build designs already, I’d love to see the option to buy the stl and hardware so you could print them and fly them.
Hey editor the "background music " volume is better than in past videos but it's still competing with narration, not really background music. . Please tone it down.
Ive always had difficulties with tapes and vinyls not sticking well to any printed surface. The conclusion ive come to is each layer leaves tiny ridges which makes tape hard to grip. With the foaming filament you end up with lots of bumpy ridges which exaderates the effect i think. Its like trying to put tape or vinyl arross a bed of nails. Lots of points not much surface are to actually grip to.
Crashing is unfortunately part of the hobby. Live and learn 😂. The most important part of a crash is what you learn from it and the memory you make from it
Just ordered a X1-Carbon printer today during their Black Friday sale. A video showing techniques and slicer settings for printing these aircraft would be great!
You will find the detailed instructions on how to set up your slicer for each part on the eclipson site. These are available before buying, look for the "read before start printing" button. Also they provide a general g-code that most printers can digest, you can skip the slicing if you're lucky.
hey flite test team ive been watching ur videos since the very beginning, if you were to take this suggestion I would be so happy. The suggestion is you should make a ground effect vehicle or ekranoplane. Like the "caspian sea monster" or "the mudskipper" or the "Airfish 8”
Looks like you used the Aura 5 lite FC. How did you connect the servos? Did you put a 'y' connector on the two ailerons servos, two flap servos, and two escs?
Great to see you guys using Bambu Lab printers but unfortunately LW-PLA does restrict printing speed (55mm/s) so you can't take advantage of their high speed but I guess it doesn't matter when you have 10 printers :)
Actually, with some tweaks, you can print the LW PLA at high speed it strings a little bit, but with just a little cleanup after the print, you're all set
Question for the design peeps out there, how would I work a split airbreak like what was used on the SBD dauntless? Would it be possible to hook up as one servo or would I have to use two?
You can get it to work with one. Wire each split on the same wire and make them open by pulling forward. One wire piece is going up through the wing. Or you reverse it and open by pushing back. That is going to make you play games on the inside of the flaps which may make them too weak.
@@Player7428 Spain, Spain and it's laws about flying planes, drones, etc. You must have a license to actually play with those toys... Even knowing that I still fly my drone 🤣. Well, I wanna recreate the Do-217 N-1 in scale (make a RC plane). I saw someone doing it already but I want it to have the retractable gear and original colours... Maybe this guys can build the plane I really like (if they read my comment)
We do read the comments, my friend. I'm so sorry you have to deal with such restrictions on flying. Thank you for your input on the plane design. No guarantees that we will ever make one but I will add it to my list of ideas to check out!
@@davidjester5085 Ohh nice, I though you can't read all the comments because they are a lot and my comment will not be read hehe but I was wrong. Your maker foam doesn’t take paint as well as the original brown stuff. I’ve tried scuffing the foam before painting it on multiple aircraft and it still flakes off. 😢
Thank you, cool video as always. Just a short comment from someone who has seen each of your videos for years: Could you start so add one or two new background music tracks to your videos? The ones you are using since forever start to get somewhat boring.
Recommend you go through a servo pre-flight on every plane every flight. I've had servos fail between flights. Saved more than one plane by not flying after discovery of failed servo.
No. You are killing it yourself. The FAA has no authority to regulate toys. You have no responsibility to comply with their asinine decrees, in fact you have a responsibility to defy them.
@JingleBop wait until the fines start rolling in. There was someone recently given 150k fine for flying their drone outside of downtown they live in, over a park. They posted the video and some asshat reported him. A single complaint and they can take it all from you.
A mindset that everything in The West is evil is interesting. By coincidence, the world centered around Israel and Iran appears to be roughly dividing between Europe and the United States versus the Middle East and Asia in a developing second cold war.😊
All that work that went into making that plane and then barely get to fly it because your boss is a controller hawk and crashes the plane before you had more than a minute flight :) I hope you made him a new one Josh :)
Josh is definitely not a controller hog LOL I just always hand the controller to him because I don't want to be the one to wreck the plane 😂 he doesn't have to make me a new one because the memory that was made is way better than any plane!
There's no better time to do a preflight than while you're collecting up the bits 🙂
That’s an after flight..
Going down in glory... We know that one.

Absolutely. Every. Single. Time.

The best channel for people who like this type of stuff
awesome to see a glider! Would love to have a simple mini DLG that doesnt need a motor
I imagine that with a bit of gyro this would be absolutely rock solid for super long timelapse FPV
Flies great! 😀
Alas! My model Y turned into green spaghetti on its maiden from improper, slow hand launch speed. Runway launch with the next build with wheels.
Hey editor the "background music " volume is better than in past videos but it's still competing with narration, not really background music. . Please tone it down.
I was taught to check orientation and throws before every flight regardless.

@@michaiahledwith5153 Not really viable as these are a single layer in vase mode to save weight.
but it's easy to write lines and numbers with a permanent marker on LW-PLA

Just lightly sand the PLA and any vinyl or stickers stick well, then just use clear coat over the top for permanent effect.
