    Today we build our highest energy 3-D printed aircraft yet. The eclipson model 3-D features extreme control surfaces that will throw this plane through every axis imaginable. Utilizing different filaments from lightweight PLA to tough PLA, every piece of this airframe is 3-D printed, including the wheels! Once printed, the Eclipson Model 3D can be assembled and take to the skies in as little as one day. This aircraft is light, but is it tough? Today we put that to the test by flying basic aerobatics and also extreme high energy maneuvers that are sure to stress out every piece of this gorgeous design. The evolution of Eclipson 3-D printed airplane is truly alive and well and this is a prime example of it. Come along on this journey and see if this model is the one for you.

    Just opened up my complete simple Scout kit. The quality of the parts is absolutely amazing. The way it is packaged is absolutely fantastic. The quality of the motor and the machine parts are very very good. If you are considering a kit do not hesitate. You will absolutely be pleased. This is the first of many to come. And the fact that I can watch it complete build video on TH-cam. It doesn't get any better. Oh and that's not to mention the Friday videos that I look forward to every week. I'm 64 years old and they bring out the kid in me. Thanks John from Canada

    Did anybody else miss the part where they actually tried to crash the 3D printed plane?
    I could be mistaken, but since the video is titled "We Tried Crashing This 3D Printed Plane" I thought that would be the main part and actually include crashing. 🤔

  • @brendon3578
    @brendon3578 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Disappointed you didn't actually crash it and show how durable it is and how repairs are easy to do with 3D printed planes.

    • @pb6839
      @pb6839 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I made one of their planes (black wing?) and they are not durable at all since the walls are printed extremely thin (around 1.5mm). I was printing for over 30 hours because printing LW PLA isn't as easy as they make it sound the prints often would fail several hours in (the pla has air bubbles inside intentionally, making it lighter). Mine then got partially crushed moving it around and since then i haven't had the motivation to go back and print for another 2 days to repair it. That being said I think the 3d modelling and research they do is really professional and perhaps it's worth building one for the novelty factor. Even though mine has not flown I can tell that one crash and it's over. I thought it could be improved with some fiberglass but then it would throw out all the aerodynamic and physics etc that they design the planes around. Still cool though

    • @RCwithAdam1
      @RCwithAdam1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was also disappointed. Why make "crashing" the title of the video? Kinda felt like clickbait, or sensationalism at least.

    Yall need a crash and repair series. I bought the seabird and had a lot of fun trying to keep it in the air after repeatedly crashing it. At one point the wings were flapping like a bird lol and it was more duct tape than a plane. "we successfully flew a well-built plane" isn't as entertaining as, "we flew this well-built plane into a pole, will it fly again?"

    I flew once with no elevator, just rudder. Good thing it was an FT Scout! Did a nice lazy circuit then came down with reduced throttle. I keep trying those moves with my profile EPP planes, but Mike has just the touch needed. Is he a better pilot than Andres Lu?

    • @David-yo5ws
      @David-yo5ws ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm just 'thinking outside the square' to help out. Maybe you can do a search and find a 3D printing company in your area. A lot of these 3D prints are often open source and free online. So if you can find the site and files you need for a particular model that you are interested in buying and building, you could print off the list and site and then see if you can get a quote from the 3D printer business. That way you get all the parts you need and then you can assemble it. Do you know a school teacher or school near by that might turn it into a class project?
      Otherwise the usual online stores would provide you some links to kit models. Best of luck.

    Has anyone tried printing parts like a traditional balsa wood kit? 3D printed ribs and bulkheads and such? I kind of want to try it. I'm thinking like, 3D printed wing ribs, carbon fiber spars, 3d printed space frame fuselage, then wrapped. I know that sort of defeats the purpose of 3d printing a plane, but it seems like it would be a little more adaptable, and certainly a lot lighter.

    Can you print a plane with a resin 3d printer i dont know but at the moment i cant find uit because im out of resin

  • @Clickmaster5k
    @Clickmaster5k ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you ever going to build or talk about big balsa or gassers again? I get the chan is targeted at new pilots and children but those new pilots get more advanced eventually. I look through your videos from time to time and all I see is electric and foam stunt things based on current fads. That's fun and all but id love to see a little more or the test in flight test and some more where to go after basic foam board and electric from the senior guys that have done it all. The last heli video I can find is many years old.
    Maybe how to get started with fiberglass or carbon fiber? Maybe some experimental hybrid printed foam composite and laminated stuff all combined in to one plane? Maybe some flight controller stuff like a foam board endurance challenge where two planes are given the same battery and have to fly a largeish pattern to see what goes longer?
    IDK, but or me at least the we built a giant foam X and put enough motors on to make it work for a video gets old. Yes, I realize this is a 3d printed plane in this video, that's what attracted me to even click on it was that it wasn't foam and was a new FT video.
