    Outstanding lessons! I abandoned the pedal for many years after using it with a Yamaha DG-80 Amp for guitar. Basically to select a preset of the amp. Last week I got back to my Line-6 POD HD500X and tried to do the same. The bid difference is, the HD500X has 8 banks that has 16 presets (divided into 1A,1B 1C 1d then 2A, 2B....16D). The HD500X uses about 10 footswitch and knobs. The presets can be programmed on PC via USB. Everything is not hard, EXCEPT 1 thing. The View of jumbo number can't be toggled back to show big fully legible from sitting or standing position. I have to bend down or kneel down with the guitar on my shoulder. It's the pain.
    So I got back to FBC-1010. Plugged it into the HD500X and started testing. It worked on few switces Then the PC CRASHED. I started looking on web and someone suggested FCB-1010. If you and anyone had instruction, please let me knows. Thanks a lot. What I have seen today is plenty already but more specific technics will be great.
    PS: I will try to insert only Midi-out from FCB-1010 to HD500X Midi-in and see if the Crash disappears.

    This tutorial is a life saver! I've spent 4 hours so far waisting time with other people, their heavy breathing, studdering, camera shakes, etc just to understand this. Great production, excellent quality, direct and right to the point. I look forward to watching the other vids in this playlist. I'm really surprised this isn't the go-to channel for the FCB1010, it was actually kind of hard to find. I just happened to come across it. I'm really hoping this channel really takes off! You just got a sub outta me! Keep up the excellent work!

      The real FCB1010 does not have built-in bluetooth transmitter and receiver. You would probably need an a separate wireless. I've never tried it myself, so not sure if it'll work.

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes something like that. I guess my concern would be the latency. I use the FCB1010 to change presets and sounds in real time, so when i hit a switch, the preset has to change instantly or else it worn't work. For transmitting back up files, latency won't be a problem.

    Well, had a 4 month delay before could get back to this project. Rewatched the video several times dowloaded the Manager program as instructed no problem, followed the video and loaded 100 presets for my sound module KETRON SD2 Orchestral Wizard. I imput the module manul's CC 00 into CNT 1 as 0 and Val 1 put in value 0 or 1 or 10 correspoinding to voice banks a, b, and c on the module . Set EXP A to 7 for volume min 0 max 127 and EXP B dto 1 min 1 max 50 hooked up MIO i Connect and got it all sent over to the FCB1010, it said done in seconds (?) a little too quick I thought, then I turned all off, plugged in my CASIO P380 synth guitar to the module and was very surprised that nothing changed!! It all worked just like it did when I bought the pedal board after first watching these videos! In other words straight out of box the A pedal did nothing and the B pedal ( that now should be modulation) was still the volume pedal. I got the same sounds as before 1-100 from the list for the module out of Voice Bank A that has CC 00 and Value 0. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I would just reset the unit back to the default factory settings and then reprogram the pedal. You can even dump the data in FCB1010 Manager and see what's assigned to the expression pedal.

      thank you very much, I will try " dump the data in FCB1010 Manager and see what's assigned to the expression pedal...." That sound excellent. If by "reset the unit back to the default factory settings" you mean the KETRON SD2 I don't think you can. Manual says nothing, company in Italy no longer seems to support it. and it's just a little box with ins and outs an LED and a volume slider. Sounds I DO get are very cool though. Great string instruments, saxes and Miles Davis trumpet..

      That would be a Yamaha PSR question. Does that particular Device even support that feature? Can it be controlled remotely in this particular way? If yes, what are the midi commands associated with it? Without that info, it’d be hard to answer the question. Hopefully a PSR user could chime in.

    Okay, so I can follow the procedure well enough. But I am wondering if this device will do what I need it to do. I am told that it will connect to a Boss Katana Mk2, which is what I have. The GA-FC footswitch for the Katana will allow you to turn on and off your various effects groups; Boost, Mod, FX, Delay, etc. But I cannot use it to turn on and off individual effects. If my Mod group is set to the chorus, I can turn that one and off. But I can't switch it to anything else in that group such as a phaser or flanger. Can this be done with the FCB1010? i.e. can one button be programmed to turn the chorus on and off, another to turn the phaser on and off, another to turn the wah expression pedal on and off, and another to turn one of the delays on and off? The problem with the GA-FC footswitch is that the mod effects button can only do the Mod effects group. I can't program another button to do the same group but a different effect. Can I do that with the FCB1010?

    Hello; I just bought a FCB101 and want to set it up/ program it to work with my new Hughes and Kettner Black Spirit Combo Amplifier; TO BOTH Select 5 Presets (using FCB10101 buttons 1-5) and also turn 4-5 Amp Effects & Parameters On and Off (using Buttons FCB1010 ) and also controlling Amp Volume and Delay Volume (usiing FCB1010 Expression Pedal 1 & 2). Ok rebooted the FCB1010 to factory settings and that did let me send all the saved messages I entered into the Manager into the pedal, as I then checked it by dumping it back. However, the pedal B is the volume pedal and Pedal A does nothing, still. and then I tried the synth guitar and still no effect from just using the pedal strait into the module, so I made sure pedal was set to receive on channel 1 just like the guitar is set and still nothing. May be something about the signal from the guitar. Its says you can control other MIDI sources besides the on board synth module but noticed if I acciddentaly hit one of the onboard buttons the sound changes to somthing else. Also if I hit a command pedal on the FCB1010 I randomly get a second sound. Also if I use a choose a sound on the FCB1010 that matches an complex orchestral sound from the KETRON SD2 too quickly from a previous sound it will go into loopin feedback until I turn of the KETRON.... Well, heck, like I said before , with the FCB1010just out of the box I was getting the first 100 sounds in order off the KETRON but there are about 900 on there, some of which I may like.. will rewatch all your videos on the subject.

    As far as the USB to PC MIDI adapter goes, being each MIDI cable on it is marked "IN" on one and "OUT" on the other, do they go in the same marked ports on the fcb 1010 or opposite? I saw in some video, where some other application, he put the "IN" to the "OUT" of his device and so on. What should the protocol be for the cables on the adapter, to the FCB 1010? Ultimately, I'm connecting FCB 1010 with my Korg Kronos and the PC. I'll be using the editor from Mountain Utilities.

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they do go in the same marked ports on any midi device. So if one of the jacks on the midi cable/adapter is marked as MIDI IN, it will have to be connected to the MIDI IN port of the target midi device. That's the cable/adapter connection. I think you're confusing this with actual connectors on 2 different midi devices (not to be confused with marked jacks on a midi cable). Let's say you want to connect the FCB1010 directly to Kronos or whatever. The MIDI OUT jack(connector) of the FCB1010 needs to be connected to the MIDI IN connector of the Kronos. Essentially, you're pressing a pedal on the FCB1010, the midi signal travels OUT of the FCB1010 (MIDI OUT) into the MIDI IN port of the receiving target device ...in this case a Korg Kronos. So in that case, you always connect the midi out to the midi in. Maybe I misunderstood your question?

    • @salmonella4u
      @salmonella4u 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InTheMixReviews I think I got it, but if both the IN and OUT of the USB MIDI adapter are going into the FCB 1010 (to use the PC editor), how can I connect the FCB 1010 to the Kronos at the same time? (all 3 devices connect). There doesn't seem to be enough MIDI ports. What the configuration be? Sorry, I never could get the whole idea of MIDI in my head straight. What I'll be doing is controlling the Kronos from the FCB 1010, creating the settings by means of the PC editor program.

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@salmonella4u So the PC editor is only sending the programming info to the FCB. In other words, you only need to connect the MIDI IN jack of the FCB 1010. If you want to send sysex messages from the FCB 1010 back to the computer, than you will connect the MIDI OUT jack. This will take care of the computer/FCB 1010 connection. Does this answer part of the question?

    • @salmonella4u
      @salmonella4u 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InTheMixReviews Then from there, will it be from the OUT of the FBC 1010 to the Kronos IN? Then that should be all I need to know. Ultimately connecting all three.

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@salmonella4u Yes, but that brings me to the next question. Why do you want these 3 to be connected in the first place? After all the FCB 1010 is the master controlling the Kronos and not the editor. Once you have the FCB programmed, there's no need for the FCB 1010 to be connected to the computer at all.

    Background - I'm trying to use the FCB with a Novation Circuit. The Circuit contains a sequencer and I'm using the FCB to select sessions on the Circuit. Each session contains a song segment, l like session 64 is the first verse, session 65 is the first chorus. It all works fine... except I can't START the song (the first session's sequencer) with the FCB, as the Circuit, and most all midi hardware sequencers, only start and stop via real-time messages, which the FCB1010 does not send. But I believe it can be hacked to send the data: 11111010
    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, because I'd like to get back to writing this song, and stop wondering about the most and least significant bits of midi messages!

      I don't think you can, as you can only use this software to program the FCB1010 hardware. In other words, instead of programming the hardware pedal manually, you would use this to manage your presets and things of that nature. As far as the pedal itself, I have a separate video for that. I've used FCB1010 to control arranger keyboards. They're also sequenced based but in a different way. Every sequence (variation) CAN be triggered with a single PC message in real time. So what is this string of data 11111010 exactly? Is it possible to use PC change messages to trigger sequences instead?

  • @NathanShirley
    @NathanShirley 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm trying to change the FCB1010's buttons from PC's to CC's. In the software I set "CNT 1" from 1 incrementally up to 100. Value for all left at 0 and didn't change anything else. When I try to send that to the FCB1010, the config light doesn't go off for one second as it's supposed to. Something else flashed quickly. I saved it, but then nothing on the FCB1010 seems to do anything... This video says to unplug the cable going to MIDI OUT when sending from computer to FCB1010, the program says unplug the other cable... but I've tried both. Not sure what I'm doing wrong... maybe everything? I need to get the FCB1010 to send control change messages rather than program change messages as I was told that would be better for switching instruments (PC changes from the FCB1010 don't seem to work).

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, just saw this post. Did it figure out the issue? As far as the midi connections go, it's recommended that you unplug the MIDI OUT (on the hardware), if you're sending data from the computer to the FCB1010. If you're sending data from the hardware pedal to the computer, you unplug the MIDI IN on the pedal. This way you won't experience any type of midi feedback. It's just a precaution.

    Hello again, ok now this seems like it will make it super easy! Additional question. So if I am programing "bank A" for my module that contains the 128 PCs do I then name and save that file i.e. bank A on the manager, then program the next "bank B" also 128 on to the manager. Then load the set of banks I am going to use that day on the FCB1010 from the manager , say bank B, then if I need bank A delete the settings from the pedals and load the next bank etc... or can I just leave the manager on the whole time and pick and choose?

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With FCB1010 Manager everything is going to be super fast and easy. First of all when you're programming FCB1010 Manager (software editor) you don' t have to be connected to the real FCB1010. At this point, you're only putting entries into the program. It's kind of like using Microsoft Word. You don't need to be connected to a printer in order to write and save a document on the computer so it's the same concept here. The only time you want to have a working connection is when you want to "send" or "receive" a SysEx file which is how the FCB1010 sends or accepts data. As far as making entries for various banks? It's totally up to you. If you program one single PC message, that's what the FCB1010 will receive. If you program 3 banks each with various presets, that's what the FCB1010 is going to get as well. Say you use the editor to program Bank 1 for Bank A of your midi device. Give it a descriptive name and same the file on your computer. Later on you decide you want to add more entries to THAT set up file. Just load/import that particular set up file that you've already saved and add to it. You can either save this as a new set up file or just overwrite the original set up file. If you send this set up file to the real FCB1010, this new modified set up will overwrite the current set up on the hardware. So now you'll have the updated setup on the pedal. Let me know if I misunderstood the question?

      No, I think you got it. Of course I just realized I was making it harder than it was. My weird brain somehow got on a track that I needed to put all the possible MIDI files at my fingertips any time. That is absurd of me! When will I need in a composition to call up Cello> Shakuhashi> Banjo> Glokenspiel> Sitar!?! All I need to do is set up a pedal configuration choosing what I think will use and then if that changes modify my file or as you say just call up the file I have saved on the editor and reconfigure the pedal. Yikes! as my father said: " Ignorance can be cured, but stupid is terminal" ha ha!! Thank you very much and thank you for a great service you do. I think Behringer needs to give you a cut because this set of videos should help sales!!!

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ha ha ha...You should see my failed DIY home projects! Yeah I've been using the editor for a while and no problem so far. The fact that you can actually see EVERYTHING inside a setup file helps a lot. You can give a descriptive name to each preset as well as a bank so as long as you keep those 2 files together (as mentioned in the video) you'll be able to see all your notes for a given set and take it from there. Use it a few time and you'll know what I mean. In the mean time don't hesitate to post questions, as they could help others as well.
