    I've had The FCB for over a year now, just sitting on the floor collecting dust and dirt.. THANK YOU!
    Now I can finally use it, it became from my worst enemy to my dearest friend within this 46 minute video tutorial.
    So many options my mind is blown. I didn't even know what to do with it,, but now I am completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of possibilities this device can be used for.

    THANKS SO MUCH for including the info on programming and calibration of the expression pedals. I just received a brand new FCB1010, and was trying to set it up to use with my iPad. When trying to route the expression pedals to control an app, it showed the pedal going from 0 to 127 almost immediately, barely moving the pedal. I tried all kinds of stuff, but no change. Then I remembered the calibration procedure you described, and tried it… bingo! Works just right now. BOTH exp pedals were in this state, and the calibration fixed both of them. Once again, Extremely grateful that you included this info; not sure anyone at Sweetwater would have known… and absolutely disgusted with Behringer that they actually ship the FCB1010 in this condition…

    Looks like I'm two years late to the party and also new to the FCB1010, but I have to say this is absolutely the best tutorial I've seen on TH-cam regarding Musical Equipment. In The Mix your thoroughness is second to none. Before I buy this there is one question. Will I be able to control 16 MIDI devices or up to 127?................ Thank you for a wonderful presentation and BTW you have a great voice.

    • @InTheMixReviews

      Thank you Robert! I tried to demystify this pedal the best I could . So are you trying to control all these devices in real time? FCB1010 CAN transmit over 16 midi channels. So you could potentially daisy chain 16 midi devices and control something on each device independently for simple configurations. For anything complicated, you'll run into limitations pretty quick. For one thing, certain parameters are Global like mentioned in the video, so you won't be able to assign the same parameter to a different switch and transmit over a different channel. In other words, you would need to know what it is you're trying to control on additional devices...and then figure out what midi messages are going to be used to trigger those parameters. Is it just a simple PC message? Is it a string of midi data? If you run into issues, then you might have to use additional hardware/software to re-channelize messages...etc. There's no simple answer for this. Most likely you'll need multiple FCB1010s to control a big network of midi devices.

      @@InTheMixReviews ... Got it, 16 channels in relatively simple work flow.... Digital mixer, 2 to 5 synths, 2 guitar effects pedals, channel switching on MIDI amp, perhaps 2 recording consoles, yes less than 16 at the moment. Looking simply to start with being able to set song lists where program changes would sync all gear in real-time and build into more elaborate schemas.... I was initially concerned with how many channels could be sent out at one time. Despite the limitations, as you have pointed out, some of the workarounds could be setting up scenes per device and just triggering them from MIDI. I did stumble on a new software based package, if you hadn't seen it already.....not a trusted secure site, but I had no problem there. You may wish to scan it first thru Kaspersky. www.muckuper.com/

    is it possible to have multiple keys turned on at the same time ? like for example let' say you have a clean guitar sound on key 1 , a distortion guitar on key 2 ..but you want to toggle on and off a delay assigned on key 6 .. i can do this but when i hit the key 6 to activate or desactivate the delay ..it turns off the red light of the key 2 i still have the distortion but visually it's confusing ...i would simply like to stay on key 2 and turning on/off the key 6 ..if that makes sense :)

      Voice/Guitar Presets can be selected by sending a series of messages on the MIDI channel assigned to the Guitar Processor.

    • @dexgames4366
      @dexgames4366 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely ! I've been browsing the Web/Forums for few days now, and it happens that many, (like A LOT,) of people have built a Setup, (A DMX Controller that has MIDI In + the FCB1010), that allows them to :
      - Control their Lighting Fixtures directly from the Stage, (So, no "Light Guy" behind a Console), via the FCB1010 Footswitch.
      - They manage to jump from Scene to Scene via Pedals 1-10.
      Let say : [Bank 1 = Song 1] with 10 Scenes in it. When song 2 comes up, they press the UP Pedal to call [Bank 2 = Song 2] - so on & so forth.
      - They can use the Exp Pedals for all sorts of things : Global Dimming over all Fixtures, Strobe Effect on the Fly, trigger their Hazer, & many other things.
      Just to give an Exemple : This man created his Scenes on his Obey70 DMX Controller.
      Once done, he plugged an FCB1010 directly to his Obey70, and as you'll see in his "Comments Section", it worked Straight Out of the Box, he didn't program anything on the FCB1010 !
      Here the link to his youtube Video : goo.gl/S9sxCd
      (Many more did this with tons of different DMX Controllers [Operator 1, Magic 260, Etc...)
      So, if it worked without any Programming, I can only dream about the Possibilities there could be using this Pedalboard. Thanks for paying attention ! Hope this helps.

    Studied this while waiting for my new FCB1010 to control my new KETRON SD2 . When I got the pedal, just for grins went ahead and plugged it in without programing( CASIO PG-308 Synth guitar > FCB1010> KETRON SD2 sound module) was pleased that out of the box it controlled the first 100 sounds of the KETRON! The FCB1010 bank 00 and footswhitch 1 matched KETRON 1 Grand Piano..etc; bank 01 footswhitch 1 = ketron 11...etc. So cool, QUESTION IS: WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER SOUNDS ON THE MODULE? The match out of the box was to what KETRON calls "VOICE BANK A (control change 00, Value=0)" and that has 128 sounds, so as described above I can call up the first 100. This module has 3 voice banks with 128 sounds each plus a "Preset Bank" of 128 plus "Live Drum sets" x 82! Thank you so much for this, had a Behringer FCB1010 a few years ago and sold it in desperation!

      I hear you! For a lot of people the FCB1010 end it up in the closet! I don't see why you shouldn't be able to call those patches located in additional banks. Most controllers default to the first bank which is why you don't have to do additional programming. Did you look through the manual to see if these extra bank have anything assigned to them? You probably need 3 entries for those presets : CC00/CC32/PC

    Congrats & Thank You for such a comprehensive and detailed tutorial !!!
    I was wondering if there is a way to set a pedal for an "octave down" change. I believe this would require 12 "semitone down" messages stream programmed into one pedal.
    Another interesting challenge could be sending 12 "semitone up" messages to return to original octave when the pedal is released. I'm afraid these will not be possible.

    • @InTheMixReviews
      @InTheMixReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, glad you found the video useful. If 'Octave up/down' change feature has an actual program change or some type of CC# assigned to it (on your device), then it's only a matter of programming the FCB1010 to transmit that data. The FCB1010 never knows what it is you're actually controlling. As long as that or any other particular feature CAN be remotely controlled with a program change or CC#, you'll be able to make that happen. Now the 2nd part of your question is interesting. It's been a long time since I've used this pedal, so can't give you the answer for certain, but if I remember correctly, the UNO chip (3rd party) has interesting capabilities that do things like that. I recommend that you check out the Facebook group, and post this question on there. There are many users that use this pedal for a wide range of devices. You may get better suggestions, especially if you give more details about the midi device you're trying to control...etc.

      @@InTheMixReviews so many thanks for your fast and crystal clear detailed reply, truly appreciated. Just as a minor contribution, I thought of a more generic than specific interest. Quite a few midi implementations seems to handle octave up/down compared to semitone transpose support. So, the idea would be to check the chances of sending a stream of -/+12 semitones down/up to make an octave shift. Would it be possible to store a stream of CCs (rather than a single one) in one pedal?
      In anyway, thank you again for being so kind and bring extra reinforcement to all these details for us. I enjoyed your warm reply and will follow your advise to check with user groups. Cheers!!!

      @@dakoiaa A stream of CCs? I don't think that's a possibility. I see why you would need a number of them to make the Octave shift possible (if there's no single midi commend available for this feature), but what would be an example for such a stream? Would that be a string of the same CC#?

      Yes, it would be a string of the same CC#. The example I thought of is a stream of 12 semitone-shifts to comprise an octave, since most synths' midi do not offer a single CC# for that. I'm about to buy a 1010 and I realize you think that's not possible with it. That's what I was afraid of.
