- The Behringer FCB1010 is notorious for its complicated set up. In this video I go over the basics, how to assign the CC numbers and how to get it controlling MainStage. Hopefully this clears some confusion up! For any questions, leave a comment below and I'll try and get back to you.

Behringer really struggled to take the angle of the user when they wrote the manual... I love that you focused on CC number programming as 98% of the folks that would use this are going to use it exactly as such. Good on you for taking the time to make this!

I've had this thing for two years and gave up trying to program it to do anything but be expression pedals. The manual can show you how but if you don't know WHAT to do it doesn't matter if you know how. Thank your for this!
YOU ROCK! Thanks to your tutorial, I have been able to configure my new board to control REAPER on LINUX. I would have been LOST because the quickstart guide which came with the FCB1010 does not tell you a thing about setting this up. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

I have a quick question. Would it be possible to control both my behringer amplifier and my new boss VE500.
Could I put the amplifier on bank one and the VE500 on bank 2? using a split midi cable
After thinking about it for a moment it would be impossible to do it with a split cable but an AB switch box for MIDI. You could have A switch position for the amplifier. Then when switching to B, it would disconnect the path to the amplifier and only connect it to the VE500 and then you could choose whatever bank and or memory position you wanted for each one. I may have answered my own question?
@@ke4uyp If my understanding is correct, as long as both the ve500 and amp are programmed to receive different midi values you should be able to use them with a split cable? As long as its outputting signal to both devices.

I had one of these and had some success programming it, but overall, it couldn't access a lot of my gear's features I wanted it for even though it was for the Behringer Virtualizer Pro 2024. *Fortunately, I don't really use modulation and time-based depth effects, and the new breed of floor processors often have midi controllers built into them.*
I'm sure if I were running plugins on a PC with it, then it would be a beast of a unit. *There are, however, custom EPROMS you can buy for it that are specific to guitar gear, rack processors etc.*
The guy I sold it to installed EPROMS programmed specifically for the Behringer Bass V-Amp, so you dropped it in, plugged it in and everything was custom tailored. Programming it for my gear hit a lot of dead ends, but I did get a fair bit of control out of it, just far from what anyone would expect.

I ran into your lesson because I want to control Line-6 POD HD500X. It needs to select 8 main groups by PC or manual. Each group has 16 basic presets that are arranged in 4 groups 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D then 2A, 2B...all the way to 16C and 16D. Having a group that contains 4 sounds is very practical for each song or style. It has a pair of Up & Down switches also (1-16). The HD500X pedal has a Big Letter View window that show the activated preset. But if there is modification (by PC Editor program or manual buttons) the stupid View window will not return to Big Letter unless I bend down or kneel on the floor to press View twice. It is hard with the guitar on my neck. Also for setting the pedal, it is better to put on a tall rack or desk and adjust while sitting and playing guitar on a chair. Doing so I can't lift my foot or use finger to press the switches.
I used FCB-1010 before with my Yamaha DG-80 Amp with out problems because the preset increased consecutively from 00 to 80 (I don't remember). I tried with Line-6 POD HD500X today and was able to activate about 20 presets. But I noticed that many sounds did not came out right. Some configurations changed and later the PC crashed. Please help. Thanks,

Thanks for making this video. I've been working through their manual and i still found assigning the pedals confusing. There was still one small thing i didnt understand in order to assign CC #s for the pedals.
I bought this for my digital Alesis Strike Pro SE drum set. I have the drum brain set for midi channel 2. Alesis says cc 118 and 119 will go forward and back through the drum kits. How do I get the 1010 to see midi channel 2 and 118 and 119? I would like 118 on one pedal and 119 on a different pedal. Thanks.
I have FCB1010. I don´t want to have programchange. Only snippets on our X32 mixer and this is midi channel 2 on the mixer. Can you make a simple film about this configuration. Snippets on the mixer is 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06 and so on

Do the expression pedals have to correspond to a specific pedal, or can you set them up to be independent of the peddles. I am in the process of purchasing one so I have not sat down in front of it yet so I am sorry if this is a dumb question.
Not a dumb question at all! They are specific to each pedal but you can make them independent but you have to go through each pedal. Hope that makes sense.
Hi i am trying to connect the FCB1010 to my roland stage piano do i have to have both the midi in and the midi out connected. Also my select green light i can't get it to flash. Stewart
Hi Stewart, I’d connect both in and out, also is the green light coming on when you hold the down button down?
Earlier versions you had to physically change the chip in the unit

Hi, unfortunately the only way to update the firmware is through a new chip. They don’t make it easy!
You need have have both the midi in and midi out? I bought this to use with my nueral dsp plugins and i bought a midi cable with it but i figured you would only need the one cable from the midi out to the midi in on the interface
I’d imagine it would work fine with the one, may as well give it a shot!
Thanks man, your video helped a ton. Now for whatever reason after I had it all set up the way I wanted and everything was working...It just stopped. Ive got no reason as to why. Ive factory reset a dozen times now and followed your vid to the T. Everything says it should work like it did but it wont. I'm using it with neural dsp stuff through ableton. Maybe you have some insight I dont?
Hm that’s weird. I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the software itself? Like maybe a midi setting?
well it was definitely ableton. it worked just fine on the standalone version of archetype gojira, so i reinstalled ableton and now it works just fine again. thanks for your response too!@@staytuned3068
Any idea how to assign a volume and was for dip with a Mac ?? every time I active the way and step on the pedal it shuts the way off and takes me to another preset ?!?!?! ready to chuck this thing out the window!! any help would be great!
Hm it sounds like the wah is assigned to the wrong midi number? Did you get to do the steps exactly how they are in the video? Also can you remove the midi link that triggers the preset it keeps taking you to?
QUESTION, I got everything working now bud EXP2 does have a diffrent velocety curver then EXP1 , Like if I push exp 1 Frome heel to toe it goeas seemlesly from 0-127 bud if i do it with EXP2 nothing happens till I am at halfway, and from there on it transissions from 0-127.
As ifthe previous owner had manupulated something to make it more sensitive.
I dont think it is meant to be that way..

My friend I am doing something wrong, can you help me by answerign my question? Why you assigned pedal01 to CC01? Because you want to trigger the command CC1 on a device or a software with pressing the first footpedal? So if I want to trigger the commad labeled CC26 with the first pedal I will press it and programm it by typing n 26 instead of 01? And then programm the values 00 to 127 on 6 and 7 accordingly?
This was a bitch to setup after countless reddit and youtube videos got it running as a pedal board through neural dsp using the element program. So worth it though

this is crazy. Is there a more modern plug n play version of this type of controller?
I know there’s software out there that makes using it a whole lot easier but it does cost money
Thanks I did figure it out eventually. It's not all that crazy after all, but I will probably be using the free fcb1010 Manager software to experiment with more complex configurations.

Hi, i just use 2 5-pin midi cables, one for midi in one for midi out. Hope this helped!
I have patches on my gt8, how to make copies of them in fcb1010??
You have to copy the patches on ur DAW, so if you have a distortion pedal on your boss, you need to add a similar one on your DAW and follow the video to control it with the FCB1010.

Does this midi work with mac m1? There are a lot of problems with midi and mac m1
I’ve heard about the issues but I can’t confirm if it will work, most likely it’ll be a software issue that’ll be fixed with updates.
Can you assign different values to CC other that on/off (127/0). Like #CC 42, value 5?
I have a slight problem with my expressionpedal settings. At the first try I only got it working on switch number 8 (and9), and second time I set it to no number 41 and now It doesen,t work at all. For history I have 40 settings ready and working against My DMXGo app 40 presets in the app working perfect but I the last thing I want is to be able dim my light with the expressionpedal. To control it where ever I am on the preset settings....do I have to get in to global config to separate the pedal from the switches?
Hi, hmm interesting… did you go through and set the pedals up for each other bank? Like go onto pedal 1 and set it up, then pedal 2, ect?
Truly I had restart the unit can it be wrong config for the expressionpedal?
@@staytuned3068Follow your video only change the cc to 56 as needed for dimmer function on mydmxgo, than the expressionpedal work´s on bank 00 switch 1, no other.
Now I get hang of it, I have to config all the switches 1 to 40 to make the dimmer working on all channels.

Ive tried to follow these instructions and do it exactly as you describe but it doesn't do what yours does. Pedal one only does 00 doesn’t do 127
I got 4 years of university education, but met my demise in the FCB1010, however thee are at least one app you can use to program this box, worked for me

I followed the video step by step. Not working? I just want to change presets in Guitar riig 6 pro. I've been trying for 5 months now. It shows up in the preferences in Ableton. But dose nothing....

That’s weird, if worst comes to worst you might have to reset it.

Cause when i got it, it was the KemperFrirmware chip inside, then i got a new fresh chip, 2.5, i think. Bud i can still try to reset. Looks like someone choose to have a diffrent velocity curve.
