    Hi rob! I was wondering if you thought about doing a single video for the beginner pepper grower - Kind of a start to finish/checklist type of video of just the absolute basics. Starting with seed to germinating, when to fertilize, compost, fertilize, prune etc. Trying to find all this information and get it together is so confusing and overwhelming without all the expert details also taking over. It’s hard to find a video that is detailed, focused, and succinct for the beginner so they know what to expect. Thanks! Love your videos.

    Hi Rob 🙂 I found your channel today and I love it (I have been "binge watching" the last few hours 😁). I live in Atlantic Canada so I know all about cold temperatures and snow storms in April 🤨. This year will be my 2nd year growing hot peppers and your videos have answered a lot of my outstanding questions, THANKS!
    Last year I had my "nursery" in my dinning room and it was a bit messy 🤭 so this year I was planning on moving to the basement which is unfinished, but has heating (we usually keep it between 10 and 15 Celcius (50F and 59F)).
    Could you please tell me what temperature do you have in your basement? Do you add any moisture?
    Thanks so much and best regards!

    • @7PotClub
      @7PotClub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always start my seeds upstairs where it's at least 70ºF. We have hot water heat, so there are heating pipes running along the ceiling in the basement. It's about 62-67ºF down there all winter, and it's the moistest room in the house. I think you need to be at least in the 60s to grow strong hot pepper seedlings, but YMMV. Good luck, and thanks for watching!

    I pretty much started growing hot pepler plants this this year (well, late last year, technocally).
    I don't know the type of hot pepper I'm currently growing. I started my plants from seeds of two fruits I found interesting from the plant. I'm trying myself with selective growing, because I want to achieve specific results I got from them.
    One of the two had lots of bumps. Hopefully, I get a plant that produces mostly only fruits like it... Then I'll try to push that mutation to its limit.
    The other one seemed to have tasted a bit sweeter than usual (from a batch that didn't end up hot. The others didn't much specific flavour, but that one was sweeter instead of roughly bitter). Imagine a hot pepper that is also sweet!
    Sadly, I working on a very small scale of around 9 pots.

Cayenne, Habanero and Serrano> i got plenty of the others for 2 yrs take to long for Bell peppersl Poblano peppers, and Anaheim Chili peppers to put on way to late > I'll buy them at the store

    What an amazing video, once again! And on my b-day to boot :P So how important is that lighting vs just normal room lighting? Is that a crucial step. Currently debating between HIGH roof cover set of 10 (NO LED) and 5 high roof with LED lighting. Which would you go with? I am in Japan and while it isn't as bad as Minnesota, it has your typical seasons...so I assume I should start germination in Feb/March.

    @DocBoogieGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey there! Quick question...once the humidity dome is on, and there's lots of condensation....how often do I water them? Cuz my domes and soil is wet from all the condensation....i get the feeling I don't need more water. My seedlings are just now sprouting, and I gotta figure out when to water them next :D it's still a rainforest in there

    • @7PotClub
      @7PotClub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you’re getting condensation on the dome, and the soil is moist, you don’t need to water. Now that your seeds are sprouting, you should be venting the dome, and that will make it dry out faster.

    How long does it take your seeds to germinate? I have the majority of my seeds germinated but there’s a few varieties that haven’t yet. Puckerbutt pepper company says some seed can take a month to germinate... is that true?

    • @7PotClub
      @7PotClub  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't fertilize until the plants are at least 4" tall. Potting mixes usually contain compost or fertilizer so they won't need any for awhile and it might burn them.

    Hi Rob, I was wondering what you currently recommend for purchasing some of the rarer pepper seeds. I've heard you talk about seeds you've gotten from semillas la palama in the past, however, it seems like they do not ship to the US currently... any advice for someone who is looking for a source for things like Zebrange or 7pot Chaguanas Yellow that might be hard to find.

      H Shane! A lot of the 7 Pot varieties have been developed in recent years by crossing, some by commercial growers and some by hobbyists. I was introduced to Trini cuisine back in the 80s when I played in a Soca/Calypso band here in Minnesota. I finally learned what pepper really meant!

I planted my hot peppers in the 72 plot trays and I covered it .. i have them out side in the 75 F weather and when I lift the top it is super hot inside the try.. my question is “ is it to hot for them outside?” Should bring them in or are they fine outside in that heat to germinate? Thanks in advance!!

    • @7PotClub
      @7PotClub  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy Easter to you, Belinda! I will say upfront that your situation is very different from ours because with our shorter growing season in Minnesota it's not warm enough in late winter or early spring to start the seeds outdoors. I wouldn't leave them in direct sun for very long, as you might actually bake them. You might want to think about bringing them inside until they germinate and you can uncover them. Then you can slowly introduce them to direct sun. Good luck!

      I usually run my lights 12-16 hours a day. I always start my seeds in the 6-cell starter trays with a dome covering them. Much easier to keep them moist that way. I transplant into larger pots or bags after they have a couple sets of leaves. A little yellowing on the tips of the leaves is not always a problem. Good luck!

    • @7PotClub

      If you have a tight fit on the lid, you shouldn't need to add much water until you start to vent it after the seeds start sprouting. As soon as you have airflow in there, you should check daily. The soil should always be moist. If there is no water in the tray, you should add water immediately. Seeds need a moist environment to sprout. Good luck! 😀🌶

    Hey Rob, great video. About 1 week into growing a few different varieties. Some of my seedlings are now taller than the roof of my growing tray and some seeds haven't sprouted yet, should I keep the dome on the tray and wait? I think my Serranos are just super leggy compared to the rest of my peppers. What do I do?

    • @7PotClub
      @7PotClub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! If your dome has ventilation, and the seedlings aren't hitting the top of the dome, you should be able to leave it on while you wait for the remaining seeds to germinate. Some seeds take a few days, and some take a few weeks, so be patient. Serrano seedlings can be a little leggy, so that could be normal. Just make sure that you have enough light and that the light is close enough to plants. Good luck!

      @@7PotClub The Serranos are definitely much taller! I've got lights on a 16hr cycle. I think I'll leave the lid on for a few more days but maybe I'll prop the lid up on the side with my Serranos so there's a bit less pressure on the seedlings touching the roof!
