If adapted into movies or miniseries, Metal Gear could easily be one of the greatest spy thrillers of all time.
Imagine Snake Eater was an HBO miniseries. Would be epic.
That shot of Venom smoking while holding the cigar with his prosthetic always puts a smile on my face. 😎
You can just tell that this whole scene was like the rebirth of Big Boss.
And much to our surprise, it kinda was, considering Venom has some of the best feats out of all Snakes AND he is responsible for a bunch of stuff why BB is considered a legend on the battlefield.
The lighting in the game is still impressive to this day

@@alessandroapuzzo1852 its because after the initial novelty of the stealth mechanic you then realize how shallow and pointless majority of it is. have your combat deployment take out enemy supplys for helmets. research the silencer. then just hs everyone in the nearly empty outpost before going in. why bother coming up with convoluted methods of sneaking in when the game literally throws you an over exaggerated easy mode?
its not like you have to learn to utilizes any of the over padding features they spent so much time to include. think of it like playing a game like super metroid where you have to gain and learn new skills and equipment to progress thru the challenges thrown at you. but instead of said challenges its just a straight line to run with no road blocks that make you use the new skills and equipment you spent time getting. makes all of that stuff they throw in more pointless than it initially was.

But no one can deny it had the best stealth gameplay alongside amazing action cutscenes

Too bad they never went into more detail as to the origin of the prosthetic hand and how it got into it's state of disrepair in missing the pinkie finger and how they got it together by the time Venom actually deployed. I know that you rescue the designer when he tries to defect and in turn he upgrades it for you. Supposedly it isn't Zadornov's prosthesis either.
If I remember right, Ocelot says in one of the cassette tapes that the Kremilin themselves comissioned the research and development of these mioelectric prosthetic limbs Snake uses. He also says he went to great lengths to smuggle one out of the USSR to give it to Snake.

0:31 Man, I feel stupid. So, this scene shows Venom Snake attempting to load a revolver with his hook prosthetic. For some reason, I thought it was Ocelot loading his gun with forceps for dramatic effect.

Just started playing this today, had the most soy reaction hearing this bit of Sins of the Father for the first time in context for once instead of in a meme

it really is an exoskeleton arm. the horn shows that the brain injury leaves him unable to move his arm. The ghosts torture Snake (Poison) by making him believe that he has no arm and making him believe that he uses a bionic arm. Consulting the ending when he hits the glass he sees Snake with his normal arm and fully recovered and the ghosts disappear. sorry for the English. you understand.
The bionic arm was still there after hitting the mirror, it's just his other arm. It's a confusing perspective because he appears behind the mirror in the same stance as his mirrored image, making his punching arm his normal arm and the arm by his side his bionic arm. Hopefully you can understand this.

@@gaeladrianmolinajara3483 Gameplay alone doesn't make a game better. Overall, MGS3 is the better game. The only reason why mgs5 had better gameplay is due to the technology and graphic limitation of that generation that mgs3 era had.

Chapter 2 needed something like this in order to get hyped. But not to too hyped that chapter 2 is just on extended disappointment. Much like in the actual game!
I think the game would be the game would have been the GOTY if the story was like 5-6 chapters with the story covering the entire 10 year gap between MGS5 and Metal Gear and end with old venom snake preparing to fight solid snake.
But with this story it feels like you're just pointlessly infiltrating little soviet outpost with no purpose whatsoever.

To be fair, konami was giving kojima a lot of crap and was pressing him to release the game soon so they can give him the boot. There was a ton of content that could've been added if konami wasn't such a toxic company. One of the things you would've been able to do is take an enemy soldier in while the rest are searching and tell him to report on the radio that he didn't find anything. I figure the game is all together, only about 60% complete.

epic intro. then the game falls apart with the whole "open world" gameplay.
To this day im so sad to see so many people blind to the obvious of how BAD this game was...from the story mess to the limitations with the engine that couldnt support more than 12 people on the screen to the ai that breaks each checkpoint you reload, to checkpoint softlocks, time traveling Ocelot,before you rescue Kaz when you try to leave the mission area he talks to you on radio WHERE ARE YOU GOING BAWS,to the...jesus..and it could've been amazing game....feelsbadman
It has its issues but to say it's bad is disingenuous. The game is not bad at all, despite being light on story, which most people forgive given the crapshow drama and bad blood between Kojima and Konami towards the end of its development cycle.
Even if you didn't enjoy the game, doesn't make others wrong in having liked it, it's called opinions, and everyone is entitled to their own. Besides, if this game is so bad why are you here on a cutscene most everyone else is enjoying? Leave people to like whatever they like. It is an amazing game for people able and willing to see past its few and relatively minor flaws.
