So much going on in London these days that the guards and horses have to be concerned about. Constantly have to be on alert and surveying their surroundings. Full respect to the guards and police.
My goodness that officer looked so incredibly young. Yet another protest right outside the guards & horses but the horses were impeccably well behaved & didn’t react to the megaphone’d individual & the banners. Well done all guards 💂.
Most officers come out of uni and straight into sandhurst , good officers go through thr ranks quickly. My commanding officer was only 23

Good to see an armed police presence supporting the Kings Guard cavalry. They are armed to the teeth, pistols and SMGs. Those horses are beautiful and powerful, they definitely deserve reverance and respect.

The problem is that most of the tourists think that they are at an amusement park/petting zoo. They don't get the fact that they are disrespectful to, and in the way of these soldiers , horse and human , from doing their jobs.

Don't know why but it feels good to see the Wooly Pully still being worn as an item of front of house uniform. After all of the upgrades of the British Army, RAF, and Navy kit, an item of clothing from the 1940's, the commando sweater is still doing a fantastic job. I have been wearing one for 40 odd years, in various different guises and there is still one in the wardrobe today.

Hello years ago I worked at the Hounslow Barracks to help with refurbishment there were no guards in the barracks every room was bought up standard I believe they had horses and guards there about a 100 years ago later the guards started arriving some started training to march in time with each other a band was formed one guy was learning the Bagpipes which sounded terrible some time later we had a mini concert with three guards they all played really well even the guard with the bagpipes was very good the main building looked like Buckingham palace it was a privilege to work there the officers dressed up for special events and the guards put on their best uniforms for the ceremony

No, the gates are the demarcation line between public highway and private property. Its why armed police are with them.. Not so much for Army protection (they are well able to respond themselves) but for public control.

It's a fundamental right in any democracy. You can't make people pay to exercise their fundamental rights. Yes, protests can be a nuisance, but that's kinda the point of them. Even if (and especially if) you don't agree with what they're protesting for (and I have no idea what these people there were protesting for) it's still important to protect the right to do so.
@@tanithrosenbaum The problem is there are so many protests now that they tend to lose their impact! It is almost ‘what’s the protest today, ‘ they then just become a nuisance. There was a young girl who had come from Scotland to protest, but admitted she didn’t know what she was protesting against! She is there being interviewed, on camera! There are probably many like that, it was the same with JSO. I agree that it is their right but we are becoming the protest capital of the world, but when they protest against the indigenous population, and we are discouraged from flying our own flag in case ‘ it offends someone’ perhaps we should have a think about things. We have people disrespecting our military at Horse Guards which to me is disrespecting the King. They don’t really take any notice because they continue to do it. It is a very sad world.

Of course the soldiers do have other duties but if you think sitting on a horse in that uniform serves some military purpose you should see a psychiatrist!

Those police you see on these videos are Ministry of Defence police. They have no jurisdiction outside the gates of Horse Guards. The street called Whitehall belongs to the City of Westminster, including the pavement/sidewalk directly outside the sentry boxes. Confiscating megaphones has free speech implications.

Neither of the horses on duty displayed any real signs of distress or disturbance and there was no “serious emergency”, just the usual hyperbole in the video title to get as many clicks as possible.

The protestors are idiots, they saw a captive audience so came across to stand and shout their slogans. Both horses where alert their guards made sure they their horses calm. The MOD police, the Captain and troopers where out in force. Cheeky Orien tryingvto nip the Captain.
My question is where were the MET police as far as i could see they where not in sight. Unless i missed something.
I've noticed since the day when Trojan had a distressing meltdown the troopers are much more on the scene, helping rhe MOD police in controlling the tourists when there are too many for the space available in the yard or pavement during the Boxmans change overs. It worked well as they all went about their duty in a professional way. Shame the tourists dont always listen.
