You are 100% responsible for my wearing sunscreen, I am only a few years past falling asleep in the sun without it.
Was there a reason you didn’t test CeraVe? My current fave is the tinted
    Love you Angie!!

This is my favorite yearly video. It's important to have a sunscreen wardrobe, I wear the Elta MD (tinted) when I can't be bothered with make-up. I do prefer the glowy look, and my skin is dry. I definitely will try the top 2 of this year's testing.
Thank-you, Angie for doing all the testing, and your time spent making this video, giving many of us a "guide" to help make a choice to get a sunscreen that suits our individual needs. Sunscreen is an everyday essential for all of us. ❤️

For me, price is always what drives most of my decision and esp. with how horrible things are the past 2 yrs. Thank God for drugstore dupes! I might try the Elta but I'm thinking I might put on 1/2 the amount. Nearly all of them look a little too shiny at that full amount

We all look so forward to your yearly roundup of sunscreens every time May rolls around and are so grateful for all the work you put into them ! I’m presently finishing up the Drmtlgy 44 and I love the feel but my experience was the same even though my skin leans toward dry. On our recent hiking vacation in Utah I packed FOUR sunscreens and when I realized this I just smiled and said to myself “Angie!” Sending you gratitude , respect and love ! Thank you so much for providing this valuable service for FREE to anyone who has Internet access!
I just turned 60 and I love watching your videos. You show how many different products perform on skin that isn't 25 and perfect except for a few blemishes. Whenever I see a product that another influencer recommends, I go to your TH-cam Channel to see if you have reviewed it yet. Just last night I was trying to see if Maybelline's Infallible Powder Foundation might be good for me to try for an upcoming trip to a humid climate, and there you were, with your timely review! Great round up as always! Thank you for the work you out into this. I can never choose just one…I have an SPF “wardrobe” that I rotate through depending on the needs of the day, I used to hate a white cast, but have gotten to the point where I prefer a little white cast over a tint that is too deep or warm as the white cast is easier to cover up with makeup. I so wish more companies would make more than one tint shade. And I do enjoy a little mixology to ensure a better tint or finish…but only if the formulas are very similar.

Biossance is my favorite sunscreen too and I have combo normal skin. It is shinny but I just add a bit of mineral powder on top and my skin looks flawless all day. Unlike some foundations and many sunscreens, with Biossance my face does not seem to get greasier as the hours pass in the day. I also love the feel of it when I apply it (better than any other sunscreen).

I always enjoy your reviews, whether I get the same results or not. I tried the Undefined R&R product over the past 3 days, with very different results - doesn't seem like the same sunscreen! Remains oily & shiny and feels tacky to touch. Do not like at all. Will stick with Paula's Choice, which works beautifully.

Angie, you have fueled a sunscreen obsession in me! I swear, I have more sunscreen than makeup. In fact, I find myself using tinted sunscreen (my fav is still the MyChelle sunshield) as my everyday foundation. I do have the DRMTLGY tinted sunscreen but I have to mix it to take down the shine and I don't wear it under makeup. Elta MD, Paula's Choice, and the Banana Boat Light and Airy stay in my tote bag. I'm so interested in the R&R but I need to use up what I have before they go bad. Thank you for all the hard work you do every year testing the great and not so great sunscreens!

Thank you for the reminder about how much sunscreen is needed to meet the SPF protection listed on each bottle; that visual is realllllllllly helpful. I recently saw some pictures of Kris Jenner at the Met Gala and I thought she looked better than her daughters, and subsequently found out that she was wearing Yummy Skin’s Blurring Balm (by Danessa Myrick). It is supposed to be just like a filter for textured skin. Wondering if you would consider testing it. Thank you for all your fabulous content. 💝💐

Angie, I’ve been following you for over 5yrs and I love how you’re constantly and consistently updating skincare info while staying true to what works.
As a long time advocate and Timeless promoter, you carry a lot of weight and influence - no pun intended, especially now that you’re over one-million followers.
Have you ever considered asking them to revert back to the much more environmentally friendly packaging of glass rather than the plastic they now use? Every “little” bit helps.

    • @carimawebb9498
      @carimawebb9498 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I stopped using Timeless vitamin C exactly because of this. Not only is it horrible for the environment, the plastic pump doesn’t even do what they claimed was their reasoning. It leaks & that means it’s not airtight. I loved getting the 4 oz. glass bottle & just refilling my 1 oz. every month. Left the larger bottle in the fridge & it never oxidized. The only time I tried the 4 oz. plastic pump (to cut down on the waste), it leaked like the smaller ones & was oxidizing about 2/3 through. Never again. Planet’s too important.

The way I get enough sun protection on my face is to wear two separate SPF 50 layers, one untinted and one tinted. I actually start with a generous layer of the Cetaphil Mineral SPF 50 that you didn't like (I'm very fair). I let that dry down for a few minutes, and then do a second generous layer of the tinted Babo Daily Sheer Fluid, which is my absolute holy grail! I find that doing two seperate layers of two different sunscreens helps me get the coverage I need with less blending effort. Plus the Cetaphil is so affordable that it cuts down on the cost of using twice as much Babo(not that it's particularly expensive) and makes everything look a bit more matte. To touch up my sunscreen coverage during the day I use SPF powders as needed. I would never use them as a base layer or only layer of sunscreen, but as a top off I think they work very well!

Sometimes, I also need IT CC Cream on my angry rosacea patches. But I love the Block Star under it all, or Australian Gold with a mineral-only SPF 50. Ive recently started wearing this and I think it’s great, it’s just like a primer with a slight tint but it disappears almost completely. My only complain is that it only comes in 40 ml tubes and it runs out much faster than other sunscreens I’ve had, I seem to need more than the usual amount to cover properly so in less than a week it was gone.

    Very helpful video, Angie.
I think I'll stick with my Australian Gold tinted sunscreen. It's affordable, is a nice shade for me and doesn't get darker when I apply enough. I have a CeraVe tinted sunscreen that makes me look horrible when applying the right amount because the more I apply, the darker it gets. Australian Gold doesn't do that. One thing I don't like about tinted sunscreens is that they are so hard to remove. I use a cleansing balm, then a cleanser and a Wonder Cloth. They don't rinse off the Wonder Cloth very well at all, like foundations do. But, that's a minor thing.

Angie, Thank you for reminding everyone to wear a good sunscreen. Yes it matters. When I looked at clients skin back in the 80s when they were really pushing sunscreens, I saw more cancers. I raised a red flag and told boards it was some of the sunscreen. It was! It took Almost 20 years to pull thousands from the shelves ( as Everyone saw about a year or so ago). Be mindful.
I also tell my clients that no sunscreen will matter without also wearing a wide brimmed hat and being sure your skin is ready for sunscreen. No baseball caps!
The sunscreen you choose must be zinc oxide and or zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
Cleaning your skin properly after wearing sunscreen is also so important.
At 56 and being a holistic master esthetician for almost 40 years, I practice what I preach and have never touched my face with a needle or procedure. My point you can have beautiful and healthy skin at any age but what sunscreen you wear on it matters.

I now have pretty dry skin and I don't mind a more luminous finish but I agree many that you tried were too shiny. I recently tried the Eucerin Age defense spa 50 which comes in an oil control version and I really liked that one. It has hyaluronic acid but no niacinamide. It is a chemical sunscreen but it didn't irritate my eyes

Thank you for the thorough reviews, it’s great to see how the products sit on the skin. I didn’t know that you are supposed to use this big of amount for the face and neck.
I am confused how you leave one application of the SPF products on up to 8 hours. The products are supposed to be reapplied every 1 to 2 hours, depending on the SPF number. With 50 you can do 2 hours, after this time there is no protection. 🤷🏻‍♀️ With SpF 20 you should not even be outside for more than 30 minutes, you can still get sunburn 🥵.
I live in Switzerland and the cancer Liga also recommends the reapplication of the sun protection every 2 to 3 hours, even though we don’t have long summers like let‘s say California.
EDIT: I read comments statements, that these are mineral products, so they last longer on the skin. Please know, that the claim, that a mineral product can be worn for more than two hours, is just wrong. Ask a doctor, a pharmacist, read the instructions. It’s all there, please educate yourself. 🍀 ☀️ ❤️

I have been a makeup geek since 6th grade and I have been reading a lot about talc, phthalates, and other chemicals in our products. With your scientific knowledge, do you have any concerns? I literally just went through all of my makeup (which is a ton ;)) and almost all of the eyeshadows, powders, and blushes contain talc which means it contains asbestos. Hi Angie I always look forward to this video. I'm using the untinted Avene shown, but as I'm extremely pale there isn't really a visible white cast on me. It's much more affordable here in the UK as it's often on offer for around £15 (around $20). It's a decent sunscreen, but on my very dry skin it is a little drying used everyday. Having a very dry skin I can get away with something you feel is a bit on the greasy side, but thick white paste is still a big no no lol. Tinted spf's don't work for me - they're always too dark or too orange, but as white cast isn't that much of an issue I'm fine with the untinted versions. Many thanks for showing them once they have been on a while and not just the initial application. Best wishes.

Ah yes...the annual hunt for the perfect facial sunscreen for summer!
My 'first love' (I believe, it was you, who introduced us 😉) was the Australian Gold tinted mineral SPF 50. It looked and felt great on my oily skin. I almost couldn't believe, an affordable sunscreen could be so 'nice'!
Sadly, I started to react to something in it, after starting to use a retinol.
Through winter, I've now used the Cetaphil Redness Control tinted moisturizer spf 30 and am equally happy with that. Great product. I'll probably continue using that with a sunhat for additional protection, since I haven't yet found a good alternative with spf50. Neither my skin (on my face) nor my super sensitive eyes like chemical sunscreens and I can't afford some of the alternatives, I might otherwise try.
It's a bummer, but summer here (Germany) isn't that intense, so there's that.
    Greatly appreciate your thorough reviews!

Haven't had the opportunity to try the CeraVe sunscreen yet. The brand has only been available here as a 'pharmacy only' brand for maybe a year or so and not nearly with their full range of products.
And it's not available online for a reasonable price, either.

I have been using the Colorescience Flex, color Medium, and agree it looks rather shiny and requires powder on the t-zone, and it would be nice to have more color choices as there is a huge difference between light and medium. However, here in Southern California's dry climate, it is one of the best.
