Australian Gold is my go-to for summer months, as it keeps oil under control and I don't need any foundation. Glad to have discovered in on Angie's channel! Trying out a new Korean sunscreen, Pyunkang Yul, SPF50 ++++. It's a chemical/physical hybrid which goes on white then blends in. Good so far.

You explained exactly why I love the Isntree sunscreen! I tried it after seeing one of your videos and it's turned out to be the only sunscreen I've ever used consistently because I can't stand the "smothering" feel of the other ones. My dermatologist and I thank you :)

My holy grail was previously the Hada Labo UV white gel. But it’s been replaced by the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel. I have normal to dry skin, and I love this under matte foundations. Brings the glow back! 🙌🏼 Honestly, all Asian sunscreens are the best imo. They apply so elegantly in comparison to U.S. sunscreens. Not greasy…better UV filters…just so so good! America needs to get with the program.

Same here! I have a huge arsenal of sunscreens, mostly Asian, and Hada Labo was my Holy Grail until being replaced last year by the Isntree! Love these recommendations! I heard many years ago from a well respected dermatologist, Dr. Leslie Baumann… That if you are going to be in the sun all day, put on your favorite chemical sunscreen and then top it with your favorite mineral sunscreen and it’s like having metal on your skin. The rays that might get through the physical sunscreen, will be absorbed by the Chemical sunscreen

I have pretty dry skin, and I used to only wear mineral sunscreens because the US-approved chemical ones cause me burning and eye-irritation. then I tried both of the Korean sunscreens featured in this video, and I love them both. I slightly prefer the Beauty of Joseon (in Korean, it’s pronounced something like “CHO-sun”), because my skin likes the rice-derived compound in it, but I read that some people can have issues with that. Anyway, great video, Angie -thanks for including choices for a variety of your viewers’ preferences.

Asian sunscreens are so far advanced over the ones in the U.S. They are lighter, adapt easier to serums and makeup and contain advanced chemical blocks that don't cause the irritation that American formulations can. Dermatologists are big fans as well. I only wear Asian sunscreens now. I don't have to deal with the grease factor or wait 20 to 30 minutes for absorption. Plus, almost all are SPF 50 or higher. I also have the Klairs and Sun Aqua, Joseon, and the new Purito formula, which is awesome too and on hot, humid days can suffice as a moisturizer.

Was waiting for this! Great, thanks! Angie, could you consider a short one on ingredients that can be problematic in sunscreen (or even skincare)? Thanks so much

Often when I see some bad reviews of products that also have Many excellent reviews, I think that the people might have combined other products along with the product they are giving a Bad review on, & they're getting a skin reaction because of ingredients that aren't meant to be used together.

I'm a HUGE sunscreen gal! I have vitiligo (white spots) as well as a pesky sun allergy that presents as tiny blisters and red dots. I get pimples easily, and many screens sting!😅
My face favourites are Round Lab Birch Juice Sun Cream and Beauty of Joseon. Both are spf 50 pa++++. The Australian Gold truly is amazing for blurring pores and shine - I use it on my nose and forehead like makeup! But otherwise it is too drying on the rest of my face.
For my body, the Eucerin Sun Allergy Protect is phenomenal! I've yet to try it on my face, because my Korean sunscreens have great filters that also calm my sun allergy.
Ideally, Round Lab or Joseon would just make a huge bottle with pump for all-over face and body! It would probably be terribly expensive, but just IMAGINE.😌 One can dream!

The R&R and Elta UV Elements are the only two sunscreens that my facial skin can tolerate. The Heliocare 360 A-R Emulsion SPF50+ is also very nice for lighter skin tones, it uses mineral filters and Tinosorb A2B, inititally very shiny, however it dries down to a very nice finish. The Beauty of Joseon is way too glowy and shiny for me, don't completely understand why it is so popular, I prefer something like Eucerin Oil Control. SVR Sun Secure Extreme is also very nice and matte, only the newer modern filters, and literally invisible on skin, unfortunately it has a fragrance which I don't like. Australian Gold has a nice finish, a nice blurring effect, but looking up close, at the recommended amount, it does settle in fine lines and pores, and feels quite drying and bc it's so matte in accentuates fine lines for me. Some of the "all mineral" sunscreens you mentioned do contain the chemical uv filter Butyloctyl Salicylate btw.

Fabulous vid, as always, but I'd love to see an updated one on body sunscreens...the last one was 4 years ago or so! (Obviously, since you use so much more, price point is even more important!)

I really love the Beauty of Joeson so much for the cooler months. It actually soothes my skin, which the opposite of what most sunscreens do! It feels like a soothing moisturizer. However, I don't use it in warmer months because I live where it is very hot and humid and I sweat it off and need a water resistant one. Right now I'm loving the new Neutrogena mineral tints one in light, which suits my super pale skin, and it's water resistant with silicone, which is what I need for the warmer months. It's the first American sunscreen I can use consisitently.

Thanks Angie! I really appreciate all your advice. I like the Australian Gold and Dr G a lot. Just want to share my experience so other people are aware. I place no blame on you! I was going to try that one, but after hearing your reaction to it, I think I'm gonna skip the one! I have Very sensitive skin & it's just not worth taking the risk, especially with a family event coming up!
Yikes! That's just Awful what you went through! I wonder what the ingredient(s) were that caused it!?
If you think you've figured it out, or narrowed it down, will you please comment back to me, so I can be on the look out for that ingredient(s) when considering other sunscreens to possibly buy? Thanks, & hope your face is all better by now!

My skin looks reptilian. Thank goodness I didn't have any important events this week. If using Babo do a patch test for sure. I thought it was a nice product when I put it on, just can't handle the aftermath. Will go back to Elta MD my standard go-to.

Great, just what I needed. Gonna try a mineral one this year, as I often get irritations from chemical ones, even from La Roche Posay's..I have to say one thing about the using spf all year around and if staying inside although. Where I come from (Scandinavia) the sun is totally gone for months and for one, we get Vitamin D deficiency due to the lack of sunlight. It's not only useless wearing spf winter time or when inside all day, but spf creams contains things, nano particles, not very healthy putting on your skin every day, all year around, especially when not needed. I am a big advocate for wearing high spf when needed and exposed to actual sunlight although.Happy Eastern!🐥🌸

    • @anniezion
      @anniezion ปีที่แล้ว

@@carlasaunders4222 I do wear high spf during spring & summer here, especially since hotter (more sun) summer nowadays, due to climate changes..But have not used it since last September, sun has been gone or weak since then. Alaska! Sounds cold AND cool with all the snow, love it. I live in an area rarely getting that much snow, more of a humidity & rainy climate. Don't you wear spf when sunny and reflections from the snow either, that can be pretty strong even in Alaska, or am I totally lost? The spf hysteria (and I mean the inside & all around the year use, even if no sun) is kind of interesting, women i Asia for instance, have the most perfect skin, no wrinkles what so ever, even if living in places like Thailand or such, to my knowledge they rarely use spf...of course a different pigment, but not that dark really. Spoke with a dermatologist, she said inside and winter time, using spf is a total waste and like I mentioned, could even be a stress to skin, due to particles in spf creams.I personally think, when it comes to keeping wrinkles at bay, in terms of extern impact (skincare has a great part too, if using really active products) it has to do a lot with humidity and of course not tanning like crazy Sorry for my ranting...

This is anecdotal, but I used the Beauty of Joseon for a few months on my neck specifically and was shocked to watch my neck age quickly. I've seen other reports in skin forums online saying that it doesn't have enough protection and I personally can attest to that. My favorites for everyday are all Japanese or Korean because they’re cheaper. I’d like to try the R&R or the one for lighter skin tones, but good American sunscreens are just too expensive. I may try Australia Gold this summer for running…Japanese and Korean do not make good, affordable water resistant sunscreens so for sports/outdoor activities, American is better (European I hear has better UVA coverage than American but it’s near-impossible to get them here AND they’re also super expensive).

Because I'm on a major budget and don't have skin sensitivity issues currently (knock on wood), I usually buy a two pack of the Banana Boat Light as Air for $15 and use it on my face and body. Every time I start thinking of branching out for my face spf, I just can't justify it. It doesn't irritate the skin around my eyes, but sometimes it does drift into my eyes by afternoon and burns a little. (Water resistant mineral sunscreens do that too and leave a filmy feeling)
