I stopped buying it because it’s just too dark and too orange for me and the company’s owner is a big Trump supporter (and I personally do not want to indirectly support Trump).
I have oily skin and it's really hard to find a sunscreen that's easy to wear and not greasy on my skin. I've tried so many, and my top pick at the moment is the Littllextra riceberry sunscreen. It's so light and actually finishes to a smooth feel. It's not sticky at all and entirely silky. It’s fantastic and works well with the riceberry moisturizer.
5 hours after the vid came out and MD Healthy Skin Lab is already sold out on Amazon. Angie, this makes me so happy for you! I love the power you have for us in the industry!!! Thank you SO MUCH for yet another comprehensive report!
They were sold out on Amazon before Angie's video. I tried to purchase it a couple of weeks ago. The healthy lab website is $20 in shipping, no thank you
I was able to buy a bundle! They have a package where you get the SPF 50 with a nice rosehip oil for $61 total, which works for me because I love oils.
Angie, I so appreciate all I have learned from you over the last five years. At 67, my skin has just become more and more dry. I work at a Home Depot garden center, here in Georgia. So naturally sunscreen is tremendously important to me. Over the last five years sunscreens have certainly improved. My current favorite is Blue Lizard Australian sunscreen 50 sensitive skin. I purchase it at Walmart, $15 for 5 fl oz. To each application I add L’Oréal True Match Hyaluronic Tinted Serum in 2-3 Light Pale. This combo gives me a great tinted sunscreen for my face, neck and arms!
Some of these are actually hybrid sunscreens, as they contain butyloctyl salicylate. It's a chemical sunscreen filter that, due to a loophole, doesn't have to be listed as an active ingredient. Please see Lab Muffin's videos about this.
Yeah, thanks to Lab Muffin, I no longer consider anything with Butyoctyl Salicylate (or similar) to be a mineral sunscreeen. At least this got me to stop buying the Tatcha “mineral” spf 50 sunscreen, though!
Yeap. I have Hero sunscreen and the first time I tried it i was like this doesn't feel like a mineral sunscreen and then saw a post about it being technically hybrid. I also find it very drying and I have combo skin
I don't even use exclusively mineral sunscreens anymore but this video is always so interesting to me. The novelty of the annual championship of mineral sunscreens is never lost on me.
some insurances have money cards where you can buy health products, sunscreens included- it would have to be sunscreen that can be bought at a drugstore though so most of these would be out except neutrogena. laroche posay would be covered which have some good sunscreens.
Thank you so much for all you do, Angie! You’ve helped me improve my skincare and gain the confidence I needed to start wearing makeup again as I turned 50 last year. Your makeup brushes have truly improved my makeup application. At 51, I’m feeling better about my appearance than I have in years. Aging hit me hard a few years back. I didn’t know who was looking back at me when I looked into the mirror. I recognize and appreciate the woman I see in the mirror now. Thank you for showing me that aging can be beautiful. 🌸
I'm glad you applied the correct amount of sunscreen, so many influencers put a small amount on and say how great it is. I find a lot of sunscreens are greasy and shiny when the correct amount is used even when the brand claims it's invisible!
That's a pet peeve of mine, too. They often show someone applying a tiny dab, smiling about how great it looks and feels. I wish they had to show the correct amount at least somewhere on their website.
The Supergoop mineral matte screen, spf 40 *tinted* is my new go-to. Elta MD was too shiny for me, and the supergoop is so matte and acts as a light foundation for me. I love it.
I agree completely! That Supergoop Matte Mineral is utterly amazing! It's like none other I've tried. It applies like silk, completely weightless feeling, lasts all day, a looks great alone and also works great under makeup!
I'm 69 with dry skin and have always hated mineral sunscreens. I want to scratch my face off after 2 hours. Then I heard about Bubble tinted mineral sunscreen. I love it! I can wear it all day with no issues. I don't even have to wear foundation anymore. The color is a tad dark for my skin tone, but it's not bad and will be perfect this summer. I get it at Walmart for $15. I always look forward to your sunscreen testing videos. Thank you for hard work doing these. We're all appreciative.
Keep going back to Australian Gold and mix the light with the medium. The finish is so nice and concealer and blush layer well. Have not used any foundation in months, thx Angie!

I really enjoy the Colorescience SPF range. I mix the Colorescience No Show SPF 50 with one of their tinted SPFs (either the Flex or the original, both SPF 50) to combat the white cast. This combination works for me. Colorescience is one of the few SPFs that does not irritate my skin and eyes. Thank you Angie for this comprehensive video!
Thank you for all the great content on your channel, Angie! I'm over 50 and sunscreen is one of the most important things in my skin care routine and it has been for as long as I can remember. One thing I learned is that a lot of US formulated sunscreen are not as technically advanced as Korean or European sunscreens. US formulated ones never worked for either on its own or under makeup and I have fairly normal-combination skin, with a few dry patches. Korean sunscreen in particular have been my go-tos for wearing alone or under makeup. They are beautiful and effective - not a lot of fine lines, wrinkles or sun spots so far. It would be interesting to see a video like this testing out Korean or European formulated sunscreens.
I commend you for actually demonstrating how and why you should always put "a lot" of sunscreen on the face. Usually only derms are the ones showing just how much sunscreen is needed to achieve the SPF on the label. This definitely affects the way sunscreen acts on the skin and whether or not it truly works for you, so thank you for doing this when reviewing big name brand sunscreens!

Our Sunscreen Queen 👸🏼. My fav video of the year! Thank you for all your hard work/rigorous testing (and continuing to enjoy R&R Sun Serum Medium Tint post reformulation that went live in Feb). It means so much as an indie beauty brand 🥹
Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for watching this year's mineral sunscreen testing video! I'm so bummed a couple of the top sunscreens sold out so quickly. I got in touch with Healthy Skin Labs and they said their Protect sunscreen will be restocked in June! I'll keep you posted...
I never see anyone mention Australian Gold tinted……the consistency is so soft and smooth, and I absolutely will go without sunscreen because I hate it so much, and this is the only one I have ever worn consistently. It is tinted, because I also would never be able to use sunscreen and makeup because it feels gross to me. I basically just really hate stuff on my face, but the Australian Gold is the only one I have found that makes me not hate sunscreen! 😊( oh, and it’s only about $18)
So today I am recovering from MOHS surgery after having a small spot of basil cell carcinoma, I have always worn sunscreen but the surgeon said a 50 is best! I really appreciate your advice on how much to really use, that was enlightening! Thank you for all you do.
Great video, I’m hooked on the R&R after your suggestion. Then it started acting weird and now my Target does not sell in store. Perfect timing, on to your #1.
I recently emailed R&R and they replaced 2 bottles that had separated and were unusable. So far so good. Hopefully over time it doesn't separate and liquify like it did before. I love the consistency and tint is perfect for my skin coloring.
This has become a signature feature for you. 😊 You have it down to an art/science… and not an easy one. The amount of work required to generate and share this info is colossal. Sincere thanks for another great roundup! You are the queen of SPF. 😎
I use Cetaphil Sheer Mineral spf50 on my face. I have light to medium skin. It leaves a very slight white cast but I always swipe on a small amount of tinted powder anyway and the white disappears. It is very very light and the price is reasonable. I have very sensitive skin and I have no problems
Wow $900 but we all look forward to these videos every year. Thank you for doing all that work for us. I just can't understand why the sunscreens are now so expensive, especially those that give you only 1oz for over $40. Crazy. Update: The #1 Sunscreen is not available on the link you posted on Amazon.
Oh my gosh! You are so committed to your audience and it is so greatly appreciated. I have loved EltaMD for years, after your advice. It is not always easy to buy EltaMD in Canada, however, now I have tried Haru Haru and love it just as much. And, I didn't have to go through tons of money, time and effort because you do that for us. Thank you Angie.
You had me at sunscreens! I had been using a brand than you reviewed earlier that you didn't like very much, I thought the issue was in my own application, but I see you got the same result! I especially like your look today, so I'm going to give that a try. Thanks as always with your help through this makeup product jungle - in Angie we trust!
These videos are SO HELPFUL!!! Thank you for all the effort in testing you do every year - seriously this helps encourage people to use sunscreen regularly by helping us find products that we actually like (or can at least tolerate) wearing :-) You are one of the very few beauty/skin care youtubers I still follow, because I never feel like you’re trying to shove products down my throat, you are no drama, and you aren’t blatantly encouraging overconsumption. Thank you, and please give your pups an extra scratch for me!!
I’m still in love with the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen. I use light. My foundation and colour correct apply easily over this sunscreen. There is no balling, no settling into creases, it’s wonderful! Thank You Angie ❤
Something that works great for my 50 yr old combination skin is Olay regenerist collagen peptide broad spectrum spf 30. Let that sink in, 20 min, then apply Elf putty bronzer~ it’s perfect. Knocks down the shininess and gives my skin a subtle bronzed look! Thanks for doing all this work Angie!!👏👏🌺
Video idea - could you do a giant stylvanna order and test some Korean sunscreens?? I’m always curious when I hear Dr. Dray talk about Korean sunscreens she loves, if Angie from hot and flashy would agree!
I've reviewed many Korean sunscreens in past videos! For mineral sunscreens, Dr. Jart Every Sun Day SPF 50 is my fave, also love Dr. G Mild Green SPF 50. For chemical, I love Haru Haru Wonder Airyfit SPF 50.
I always look forward to your skin care and makeup videos. You are one of the only beauty influencers who does in depth wear trials rather than just first impressions. You also do deep dives into skin care ingredients so I feel confident using products you recommend. However, in some tests of sunscreen,I.e. Consumer Reports, the actual SPF stated on the container of many sunscreens is lot less. Also mineral sunscreens are the least protective. I’m lucky I can wear chemical sunscreen except around my eyes. I’m going to try Korean sunscreen this summer. Thank you for all your great advice. Wish you the best.
@@tarrabobarra I'm not Angie but the SKIN1004 Madagasar Centella is my absolute favorite (even among others Dr Dray has recommended) and wears beautifully under makeup for me!
I have dry skin and both the Bubble and R and R are my favorites! Great under makeup for me as well. I can see folks w oily skin maybe not being able to use both. But I’m loving them.
243!! Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for all the work (and money) you put into doing this for us. I still have the R&R left from last season, but just ordered your #1 pick for this season. I like the tinted sunscreens so I don't need additional makeup in the summer. I can't wait to try this!
What's with those crazy prices on some of the brands lol? Forty-something for a sunscreen when there's so many great ones for no more than 10$/€. I wouldn't even consider a product with such price tag because it can mean only one thing - overpricing.
Yeah but you can get good sunscreens from the drugstore. Ones that work under makeup just fine. Plus the fact is most people aren't reapplying sunscreen to their face every 2 hours either...
I just received the EltaMD AOX you recommended, and after one use I think this will be my new favorite. Feels great, invisible, great under make up and not too shiny. Thank you! ❤️
This is always one of my favorite reviews! I do wear sunscreen everyday so I always like to see how different ones have worked for you. I don’t like a shiny look either so that does play into which sunscreen works the best. Thank you for all the time and money you have spent on testing all these sunscreens. It’s a huge job and I appreciate it so much!❤️👏
I use EltaMD 40 as a base layer and then top with Australian Gold light tint, it is the perfect comb for my face, Thank you Angie, for your continued expertise and for being our sunscreen guru!!
I was waiting for this video, I love this video every year. It's so helpful. It would be nice to see a comparison between the previous winners and this year's winner.
So then all this review for what? Also, after shipping, one bottle of your “winner” is $63! What in the actual freak?!? Who can afford that? Even wealthy should do a hard pass. That’s highway robbery and I’d have a hecka hard time promoting that.
My sister was a lifeguard in the late 60’s and got 2nd degree burns on her nose. The standard back then was plain zinc oxide and A-fil cream. They have since come out with better sunscreens but if I am going to be spending the day outside, I don’t really worry about how it looks. Despite wearing sunscreen since I was a teenager and bought the highest SPF I could find, I have already had 2 types of skin cancer starting at age 30. Fluorescent lights will cause UV damage to your skin even if you don’t spend time outdoors. Find one that works for you especially if you are very fair skin and use it everyday. Wear hats outside.
I mix Australian Gold with Elta MD. Both are mineral based. It makes the perfect light coverage, saves money, and stays all day. Thanks Angie, you are the best.
I always look forward to your reviews too Angie. I prefer mineral sunscreens for my face too and you so thoroughly identify the issues/criteria that matter! I use several Asian mineral sunscreens that are inexpensive and luscious but lay down a ghastly white cast. I mix them with slightly more expensive Western sunscreens in a much darker tint than I would normally. I can achieve the perfect look at a good price point that way. The Asian white sunscreens extend my western, more elegant tinted ones further. I've fallen down the rabbit hole of buying a few of the more expensive, western tinted alone and for the price, they are not worth the $. A bottle of tinted sunscreen at $40+ that you will use up in 2 weeks is not doable for most people's budget especially now with inflation galloping like a wild horse.
Yes! I’m a crossing guard that wears sunscreen and I’ve protective clothing. I’m outside on a daily basis but will test low on Vitamin d if I don’t take supplements
For me, Prequel is 5/5. Ulta MD and Undefined are both 0/5. Just goes to show you how INDIVIDUAL skin truly is. Helpful hints to the general public; no sunscreen will look good on top of toooooo many layers of skin care (ppssst....it doesn't help your skin either). Also, sunscreen is not designed to last all day. It should be reapplied throughout the day, or at the least, twice a day. In fact, in my line of work, I am required by gov't regulations to reapply sunscreen to my clients every few hours!
Ever since I was introduced to Australian gold I’ve been obsessed! I’ve been using it for 5 years now and I just put powder right over it and my skin stays matte! It’s so beautiful and blurring I can’t find a routine like this with any other products! Thank you Angie!
On the website it’s $44 for one little bottle and $19 for shipping. Ain’t no way. You’d have to be a very profitable influencer to afford that. As for me and my middle class self, this ain’t happening and I’d actually be ashamed to try pushing this on people.
So glad to see you back home and doing your research and recommendations. I also think you do your own make up the best. I learned from you that matte is kinder for pores and texture in sunscreen and makeup. Seeing you with so much shine really demonstrates your point. Thanks for being real!
Thank you for YOUR time! I don’t know what I’d do without your thorough testing. You have saved us all hundreds of dollars and hours of testing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love the brutal honesty bc sunscreen is so important, as is feeling and looking good in it bc otherwise we won’t wear it! I’m 50s and die-hard sunscreen, have gotten my 23-yr old wearing some too. I grew up in the tropics and wow do I wish this knowledge had been around when I was her age. TY!
It’s crazy how all of these are so much different from each other, price, performance and wearability!!! Angie, thanks for doing your research as always, SO helpful ❤❤❤!
Thank you so much for this annual video which I look forward to. As someone who only uses mineral sunscreen it is so helpful as so many people on TH-cam seem to focus on the chemical sunscreens.
Thank you Angie for all the work you put into sunscreen testing! It has saved many of us so much money as well as reducing sun damage. I look forward to this yearly delivery and it never fails... thank you again...
Thank you for this annual round up. I just ordered several Korean brands to try. Found some highly rated mineral options so I'm eager to see how they perfom this summer.
One of my favorite videos. I'm always on the hunt for the next "best" sunscreen. I already have several favorites, but new products come out every day.
These videos are so helpful. I know you’re doing a lot of work and including a lot of information, but I would really appreciate it if you could add a few words about the smell of the sunscreens. Since even fragrance-free sunscreens can have pretty strong smells, that’s the one thing I worry about before purchasing. Unfortunately I have a pretty sensitive nose, so smell can be a dealbreaker for me, even if the sunscreen is otherwise great.
I wait all year for this. Thank you Angie! I've been using Australian Gold since the first time you recommended it. I have tried several of your winners (R&R, Elta, Make:Prem) and I always go back to AG.

Of all the testing you do for us this is my favorite. I really appreciate the money and time you spend.
Austrailian Gold is my favorite! I wear all year round, use the light-medium in winter and med-tan in summer. It is perfection in a tube!
Because all her viewers bought it out lol.
The #1 Sunscreen MD Healthy Skin Lab will be available on Amazon in early to mid June 2024
Excellent video! So informative. I always look forward to these. I do miss Foundation Friday though. 😢
I’m still in love with the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen. I use light. My foundation and colour correct apply easily over this sunscreen. There is no balling, no settling into creases, it’s wonderful! Thank You Angie ❤
I appreciate all the work that goes into these videos 😊
Something that works great for my 50 yr old combination skin is Olay regenerist collagen peptide broad spectrum spf 30. Let that sink in, 20 min, then apply Elf putty bronzer~ it’s perfect. Knocks down the shininess and gives my skin a subtle bronzed look! Thanks for doing all this work Angie!!👏👏🌺
My favorite is Elta Md 41 it has been for years but I will try your winner!! Thank you Angie!! ☀️
This was the most savage sunscreen review I didn’t know I needed
Thanks for all your hard work year after year. I was about to order a refill of one yesterday and thought….ill wait on Angie’s video!!
Naked Sundays is the BEST mineral sunscreen I have ever used!
This is the best video of the year! Thank you for all the hard work. ❤
I look forward this video every year. You have turned me into the sunscreen police around my friends and family. Thank you so much Angie!
@@AngieHotandFlashy Oh my gosh Angie answered me!!!
@@tarrabobarra I'm not Angie but the SKIN1004 Madagasar Centella is my absolute favorite (even among others Dr Dray has recommended) and wears beautifully under makeup for me!
Thank you 🌷
I have dry skin and both the Bubble and R and R are my favorites! Great under makeup for me as well. I can see folks w oily skin maybe not being able to use both. But I’m loving them.
Great video, thank you! 🤩 The amount of work and money you put in is enormous. We really appreciate it, Angie! 😊
I wouldn't even consider a product with such price tag because it can mean only one thing - overpricing.
yeah, considering how much you need to apply (and reapply) 1-2oz for $40 is way too much.
Skin cancer is even more expensive…
Yeah but you can get good sunscreens from the drugstore. Ones that work under makeup just fine. Plus the fact is most people aren't reapplying sunscreen to their face every 2 hours either...
Try canada.. it’s 74.00 for 50 ml and that’s luxury brand 😅
I just received the EltaMD AOX you recommended, and after one use I think this will be my new favorite. Feels great, invisible, great under make up and not too shiny. Thank you! ❤️
A HUGE THANK YOU!. Was waiting for your video, now I can buy this years sunscreen❤
This is always one of my favorite reviews! I do wear sunscreen everyday so I always like to see how different ones have worked for you. I don’t like a shiny look either so that does play into which sunscreen works the best. Thank you for all the time and money you have spent on testing all these sunscreens. It’s a huge job and I appreciate it so much!❤️👏
Thank you! I look forward to this video every year 😊
I use EltaMD 40 as a base layer and then top with Australian Gold light tint, it is the perfect comb for my face, Thank you Angie, for your continued expertise and for being our sunscreen guru!!
Always look forward to this video each year!
I was waiting for this video, I love this video every year. It's so helpful. It would be nice to see a comparison between the previous winners and this year's winner.
Love this series! 😊
Hi Angie! Maybe you should consider to change the frame of your glasses. It leaves your skin irritated😮 thank you for the awesome content!
Why did you stop using Australian Gold botanical face? I still use and enjoy.
I didn't
Thank you for doing this!! Love these!
I mix Australian Gold with Elta MD. Both are mineral based. It makes the perfect light coverage, saves money, and stays all day. Thanks Angie, you are the best.
Yeah love your SC videos, can’t wait to watch!
Korean and Japanese Sunscreen is great
That’s a lot of work Angie! Thanks
All sunscreens irritated my eyes and skin until I tried Korean sunscreen ❤
I love Alleyoop! Once it dries, it’s not greasy at all. It actually looked great on you! I do not need makeup with this one.
Just a note to remind you to check your vitamin D3 if you wear sunscreen- and supplement accordingly ☺️
Yes! I’m a crossing guard that wears sunscreen and I’ve protective clothing. I’m outside on a daily basis but will test low on Vitamin d if I don’t take supplements
Your skin looks gorgeous today! Matte but with a glow? You give me hope I can find the right combo for my dry skin 😊
U need korean sun screen, no white case, no greasy, japan sun screen excellent too
Doing the lord's work, Angie
For me, Prequel is 5/5. Ulta MD and Undefined are both 0/5. Just goes to show you how INDIVIDUAL skin truly is. Helpful hints to the general public; no sunscreen will look good on top of toooooo many layers of skin care (ppssst....it doesn't help your skin either). Also, sunscreen is not designed to last all day. It should be reapplied throughout the day, or at the least, twice a day. In fact, in my line of work, I am required by gov't regulations to reapply sunscreen to my clients every few hours!
How you manage prequel not to pill and ball?
@@bbsailI have had success with Prequel by allowing both my skincare and sunscreen time to absorb and then applying my makeup.
Love Colorscience No Show works so well . Everyone skin is different what works for one may not work for another .
Some of these are ridiculously expensive
Yep.
Shameful tbh
Ever since I was introduced to Australian gold I’ve been obsessed! I’ve been using it for 5 years now and I just put powder right over it and my skin stays matte! It’s so beautiful and blurring I can’t find a routine like this with any other products! Thank you Angie!
Your number one choice is currently unavailable
It will be back in stock on Amazon in mid June
On the website it’s $44 for one little bottle and $19 for shipping. Ain’t no way. You’d have to be a very profitable influencer to afford that. As for me and my middle class self, this ain’t happening and I’d actually be ashamed to try pushing this on people.
I absolutely love the Olay Sensitive Mineral SPF 30. This is the only one that doesnt hurt my skin barrier
You’ve put so much work into this! Haru haru has been amazing for me.
Yes. Me too.
Angie☀️We'd be lost without you! Thank you for constantly doing all of the work and spending so much time & money on us. The time & money you've saved me over the years is priceless. You're incredible!
