THE TOP 10 PUBLIC GOLF COURSES IN THE GREAT STATE OF OHIO!!!! #golf #ohiogolf #ohio #subscribe #golfcourse #golfhole #indiana #gingerstashgolf #courses
ehhh i live in springfield and play windy knoll all the time.. like once or twice a week. yes it is better than most courses around but nothing really makes it better than others. there’s a course called lakeland golf course in st paris ohio which is 25 minutes from windy knoll and they are both well kept in similar ways but windy knoll offers memberships that’s the only difference really
From Cincinnati and have played Stonelick a few times and I’m glad it was on the list. Amazing course! Look forward to playing the other courses on your list as well Congrats on 100 subs!
@@TeeBreezeGolf hey i didnt see your email but know its short notice but thurs fri this week would you wanna shoot a video together anywhere just north of cincinatti would be good weboyowza72@gmail.com is my email thanks
Nice video. I was fortunate to play the top 3 on your list and Eaglesticks. You picked all the courses I was thinking of! I played Virtues when it was the Longenberger, I doubt may get through 18 there without a 3 putt. I played the North course at Firestone, not the sound. The north course has water on 14/18 holes. Thanks for making this video.
Played Darby creek 3 times, went to the memorial then played this the day after. Played eagle sticks took a group there from indiana play the virtues course on that trip. Played the Millersburg course this is my home town.
Have played half of these (Eagle Sticks, Boulder Creek, Sleepy Hollow, Manakiki, Fowlers Mill). Had my first hole-in-one at Fowlers Mill. Worked for the Metroparks. So I played Sleepy Hollow and Manakiki more times than I can count. Both are OK. But not sure I'd put either in the top 10. Maybe Sleepy Hollow. Boulder Creek is certainly my favorite of the 5 I've played. Cumberland Trail is a great course in the Columbus area. Maybe some of the best greens I've ever played on. And is quite a challenging track from the tips.
I worked at fowlers mills and let me tell you you. Getting to play that course for only five dollars and all my friends got in for five bucks as well was awesome!! I hit a birdie on that lake you showed. Par 5. Nobody believed me. The only way is if you hit it over the water and ya boy did it! Craziest moment in my golf history as a youngin 😂
@@Gingerstashgolf nobody believed me lol. I barely got it over. And the. Had to put it on the green from quite a bit away. At least I think that’s the hole you showed. It was on the lake 9. Which is across the street from the barn. It was so many years ago. It had to have been a lot of help with wind cause it doesn’t happen often haha.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA and my 85 year old Dad and his 70-80+ year old golf buddies make two 1 hour and 15 minute (each way) trips each summer to Ohio for golf. We play Firestone Farms (The Links at Firestone Farms in Columbiana, Ohio) and Reserve Run (in Poland, Ohio). These are beautiful public courses that are incredibly inexpensive (close to $30 for seniors on weekdays for 18 and a cart). Being from Pittsburgh, I don't know the courses on your list, but Firestone Farms and Reserve Run are held in very high regard by golfers who play in and around Western Pennsylvania/Pittsburgh.
Hey Ray thank you so much for the info I really gotta check those places out my father in law is from reading so I'm sure ill be that way and what you said is priceless thank you so much for the comment and watching the video
Avalon Lakes (pete dye course) belongs on this list imo. I live and play a lot in northeast ohio so ive played firestone, fowlers, sleepy, manikiki, boulder and the quarry...and id put avalon tied with fowlers. Unfortunately i just played fowlers this weekend and its struggling with its upkeep/conditions. A lot of bunkers growing in and dry spots on the greens, signs falling over. Its a shame bc it really is a great track
Fowler's Mill isn't want it used to be, I'd put it at 10 as the highest. I think Little Mountain surpases Fowler's Mill in that area with their recent bunker reworking. Manakiki is the undisputed champ in the east-of-Cleveland public though. Kensignton i snice down south of Youngstown. May be worth looking into adding if it stays consistently good.
Ashland GC (formerly private Ashland CC) is an awesome test, very well maintained and this year is 100 years old. Nobody knows about it. Not saying it should be on the list but it’s close.
Stonelick is better than some of the course ls rated better. Kennsington is also a great one in Canfield. Valley of the Eagles which is a Nicklaus design should be on here too
Thanks for watching yeah I noticed that eastern Ohio has all the hills and top courses cause of the terrain I’m thinking about maybe a city series for the Midwest
My vote is Champions golf course in Columbus, Oh. Country club turned municipal. ESTABLISHED January 1922 ARCHITECT - Herbert Strong REDESIGNED TO 18 HOLES January 1948 ARCHITECT - Robert Trent Jones
@@Gingerstashgolf if you do go to champions, don't leave anything valuable in your car. It is a nice course but has had some issues with the nearby neighborhoods not being the greatest at times
I KNOW Pine Hills should be on this list. What’s impressive is Manakiki and Sleepy are both Cleveland Metropark courses. Metroparks do a great job with their courses.
I forget how nice Manakiki is compared to other courses since it's 2 minutes from my house I play there often. You're definitely right about Cleveland metroparks courses. They're maintained pretty damn well. Pine ridge which is a stones throw from Manakiki is also amazing! Another course I'm surprised wasn't mentioned is Little Mountain.
I would have had Windmill Lakes in Ravenna in my top 10. Great layout very challenging and well conditioned golf course. Home to the Kent State golf team.
Want to try a course that will be challenging and quite fun go and play Buckeye Hills Country Club 7261 Limes Rd Greenfield, OH, 45123. Maybe not the most beautiful in Ohio but some decent scenery and some fun and challenging holes. Warning though it is in the middle of nowhere! Was a private club for years but is open t public now, call for a tee time they do get busy. A few of the holes, unless you are a 300 yard driver, you may have trouble getting past the women's tees from the white.
@@Gingerstashgolf well worth the trip and reasonable price. Be prepared some of the holes don't play the yardage they look or say so be ready. I believe they are closed until April at this point but you'll enjoy it. Also might give Snow Hill Country Club in New Vienna, Ohio a try it's a nice course and has been around for a long time
Boulder creek.......looool NO they tried wayyyyyy to hard to be a pga tour style.....i would put Goodpark in AK over that or even shale creek in medina.....also even Tanglewood used to be highest slope rating in Cleveland
windmill Lakes golf course is a great one as well
Deer Ridge in Bellville and Ashland GC are also a couple great courses. Delaware Golf club too
Thank you def checking out those courses
Great stuff man! Congrats on 100!!! Well deserved!!! 1k in no time with how much work your putting into your videos!
Hey thank you grinding away appreciated
Stonelick is an incredible experience. The owner founded Penn Station Subs. The Buffalo are an interesting touch.
I gotta get there this summer or fall
Snow Hill in New Vienna is a real gem. Also Windy Knoll in Springfield is a great course as well.
Awesome deal gotta check those out
I 2nd the thumbs up on both of those courses as well

Played Stonelick for the first time this year and it is an amazing course.

Oh wow that’s terrible thanks for the input been hearing that about Fowlers a shame I will definitely be revising this 👍
I was going to say Avalon as well. Easily a top 5 Ohio course for me. And as much as I like Firestone South, I like the North course even more.
Fowler's Mill isn't want it used to be, I'd put it at 10 as the highest. I think Little Mountain surpases Fowler's Mill in that area with their recent bunker reworking. Id replace Fowler's with Chippewa in Doylestown OH also Gleneagles in Twinsburg is becoming a favorite to many also!
Hey thanks a lot for the feedback I am looking for more great Ohio courses to shoot the next video 👍
Glen eagles a sleeper!!!!! Can be very tuff at timea
@This Iz CLE agreed, bud! And it's in my backyard!
Chippewa is great
There is a course that is closing now.....7 hills......in hartville.....used to be a true gem......
I played Eagle Sticks a few years ago and it was in terrible shape. Has it greatly imporved?
It has greatly improved i never played it until last year but all courses can have some bad stints so don’t know thanks for the comment 👍
Also its like 500 for the stay and play at Firestone.....bettwr courses for that same.price
Yeah Firestone it’s a crazy one hate that some of these charge that much it’s nuts
Stonelick is better than some of the course ls rated better. Kennsington is also a great one in Canfield. Valley of the Eagles which is a Nicklaus design should be on here too

Try Maumee Bay...
Eagle creek
