      The passthrough feature is the real MVP here! If my sign is still too big, I need to piece it together too. I have a video on that, too!

    Omg... the amount of time I have spent trying to edit certain cut points in my cursive fonts to make some edges thicker for cutting is INSANE... why did I NEVER think to just offset it!?😳😳😳
    Thank you for this tip.
    I feel silly as someone who has used the offset feature in both design space and Silhouette studio sooooo many times to actually achieve an offset.
    Excited to try the pass-through slot today too, so this video was helpful! Thank you.

      Glad I can help! I made the same mistake too, but offset works really well for lasering, specifically!

    Thanks for inspiring me to give the CV pass-through a try! I started w something just barely too big as a test, and it worked perfectly. I was able to cut 1 piece designs for 14” rounds. Very nice! Thanks for the great video!

    Hi Lisa, great contents. Thank you for sharing. I just attempted a passthrough about the same length, however I had a couple areas where it didn't align properly when joining with the other side of the letter. Did you ever experince that? If yes what did you adjust or fine tune to avoid that?
    Thanks in anticipation. Keep up the great work.

    • @LisaPottsDesigns
      @LisaPottsDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had that, but I will pass it though a little less to ensure there's plenty of the old cut in view. Also - that issue sounds like a software issue. Sometimes the program has a bug that is reported from Glowforge.

    Hi Lisa. So your wood piece was about the width of the glowforge, so it wasn't that hard to keep it straight when you slid more if it through. What if your wood piece was way more narrow, say about 12" wide? Then wen you pushed it through the passthrough for subsequent cuts, what if you shifted the piece left or right a bit? Or if it was a tiny bit crooked after sliding it in more? Do we need to slide it through perfectly straight for it to recognize the prior cuts and cut the remainder precisely? Thanks!

    • @LisaPottsDesigns
      @LisaPottsDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely has some wiggle room, but I recommend always aligning the wood against the right side (button side) of the machine!

    So when you push the material forward it automatically figures out where it should continue in the design?

    • @LisaPottsDesigns
      @LisaPottsDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. You leave enough of the previous cut within the camera to allow the software to figure out where the cut ends and the next one begins.

    Hi Lisa! I'm hoping you can help since GF support hasn't answered me yet. I'm using my passthrough for a large (18" circle, 1/4" thick) door sign. My GF cuts everything great then finishes and says the cut was unsuccessful and won't continue. Any idea what might be causing this? Thank you! Your videos are so helpful

    • @LisaPottsDesigns
      @LisaPottsDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Megan! So...that sounds like a software issue. It's not telling you to try alignment again, it's just saying unsuccessful?

    Hi ! I have a pro and have been running into many issues with the pass through feature. After my first cut with pass through it never wants to realign and continues saying “retry alignment”. Has this happened to you ? If so what did you do to fix this ?

    • @LisaPottsDesigns
      @LisaPottsDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's happened to me once or twice. Typically that happens when there isn't enough of the previous cut on the screen. The software uses it to align the next cut.

    • @LisaPottsDesigns
      @LisaPottsDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple things to try, make sure to set your focus or manually put in your material height. After that, make sure your design has settings assigned to it. Last, the passthrough goes from the bottom up. Make sure the bottom of your design is at the bottom of your workspace, and the remaining part of it is flowing up and is exiting your screen at the top.

    • @shelleyruiz3402
      @shelleyruiz3402 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its actually because turning on passthrough can sometimes reset your settings. So you'd need to reselect your material type as well.
