in old tactics the pheonix is completely silent (aside from scanning beeps) but they recently fixed that and it properly pitbulls. Best 1v1 strat on a persistent target imo is pheonix (if at high altitude), then sparrow, then back to pheonix (but don't babysit it this time, turn away immediately - it will confuse most players, especially those using PD HDN), and then into gun/sidewinder/zuni range.

Is there designated keys to switch between TWS and SRC PD? And are you manually switching between targets while in TWS mode? If so what bind is that? Currently in sim I have to rapidly click through modes or just leave on SRC PD for the IFF mode and for locking I have to keep breaking and locking until I get the target I want. Could of sworn there was a way to switch soft lock targets in jet and in ground AA but cant find the bind anymore.
i was using the "select radar/irst target to lock" key. this will change your TWS soft lock enemy, and also change your SRC/SRC PD target. i have a vid coming out in the next few days going over some radar stuff so stay tuned for that.

Man, I absolutely loved using custom battles to both test new aircraft, and improve my flying skills. The last few months, however, any custom battle, with high tier aircrafts, about 90% of the bot planes, on both sides, crash shortly after taking off. Kinda sucks that I can't practice in custom battles anymore, is this just my game, or is anyone else experiencing this?
f-14A is at the top of its BR bracket but has worse everything and f-14B is at the bottom of its BR bracket but has better engines and weapons. its really up to you. tbh its been fun for me to go back to f14A and clap up the 11.0-11.7 bracket
Why do you use src PD HDN mode to find targets? I know its supposed to have more range, with PDV having the most IRL, but is that actually modeled in WT?
@@ichaboi14 Not much really changed for the F-14. Mig-29s will stay very low for the first 10 minutes or so. Been playing quite a bit of matches with it now and its played like any Mig-23 up until the player count goes down to one handful, then they usually start working with altitude for dogfights and such. But early on, same game. I'd personally just need to know how to make Aim-54s actually hit 😂 I shoot them in pairs on 23-26km distance with a couple of seconds in between them, but the hit rate is quite low.
@@Drnken229 in RB dont use the aim54 only on sim maps and there u can yeet them for 50km or 60km on normal RB maps just go in with 4 or 6 aim7f and depending on how many aim7f you took you take 2 or 4 aim9H
War Thunder's broken RWR is to blame here... You get an indication that there a radar that way, but you dont know what radar it is... For war thunder an F 14, an F 16, a ship and a roland radars are all the same... very poorly implemented. Dont waste your time on war thunder if you want to play sim. It is a terrible simulator. Flight models, physics and all that are very basic and quite broken in some ways. Grab a plane on sale for DCS and enjoy yourselves. There is a lot to learn from it, its cheaper, it has better flight models and fully functional cockpits, the game looks better, it has better physics simulation both for the aircraft and for the weapons, there is no fucking grind... no in game currency, xp or any of that bullshit...

I kill two mig 29s and only get 13k SL for it and my repair cost is 21 thousand this is a pointless waste of my time the rewards are worst than RB

yeah wt bots are really bad. in Afgan they just fly into the mountains at spawn

Just use the tws it literally gives you the location of the target and you don't have to fuck around with radar settings so much
does the soft lock only work with aim 54-As? it doesnt let me launch my aim 7fs unless i hard lock them
something to do with datalink or something like that. im not an engineer i just know only Aim54 can do that. for now
54s can soft lock, but 7fs have to be hard locked.
How much SL do you get for a splash 2 in the f14 sim???

PDV dosnt have iff and although i know how targets position on the radar is relative to their velocity I get confused sometimes.

I play on ps4 and the f14 is hard to use the radar constantly switches targets making the aim 54 useless

in my opinion air rb sucks in top tier unless they make it so that only ec maps are in the pool it just becomes far to hectic
