Important point from someone with a modest 4.3k hours in the game, been playing since ~2016, almost exclusively ground forces and 100% free to play: The game actually becomes fun when you don't care about the grind. You don't need that jet, you don't need that MBT. The most memorable round of Warthunder I've ever had was getting 24 kills in a Matilda 2. I could not care less about my T-80U or T-90A, as long as I get to throw in a few rounds in an M24, or T-34-85 or Pz IV F2. The game is at its most enjoyable at the 2.7-6.7 range. If you're playing Warthunder because you're a super-fan of >insert modern combat vehicle/plane< and that's all you want out of the game, Warthunder is not the game for you. There are other games for that, more specialized ones, with smaller playerbases, but they are what you actually want. Also, diversify. Swap what nation you play on a regular basis. Yes, it will turn the incredibly slow progress even slower, but it will actually keep the game fun, rather than a fruitless chase after something that will likely end up disappointing you. It will also make you a better player, giving you a much better understanding of your opposition. And it's an easy fix for the "bias" problem. Play a nation that you think is overpowered and you will very quickly discover that it is likely just as painful as what you were playing previously. Some nations have a good showing at every BR range, the more minor nations tend to have some holes in the range where they're weakly represented, but tend to make up for it in other areas. Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous that after over 4k hours I don't have any tree maxed (especially considering I rarely touch two thirds of the game in the form of air and sea battles), but I have had the USSR tech tree at completion before, but that was from the time of the T-10M being the top-ranked vehicle until the early T-64s and T-72 were added. Past that I took a major hiatus from WT and I doubt I'll research the T-90M and T-80BVM any time soon, since I'm having much more fun playing China at the moment. So the game is terribly designed, because it non stop pushes on you the higher tiers and FOMO making the player feel awful in order to make more money. A game should be fun by deafult, if you need to ignore majority of what the game pushes on you, then it's a toxic and badly designed game
Yeah it also affects certain flight performance too apparently. Not that you can really notice haha. Cool that it exists, feels like one of those legacy features from a time when devs would just "add cool stuff" without having to think if it would actually matter.
@@Polterbunit's very noticeable in spain air battles. Fun fact about S E K R E E E T documents: a friend of mine who enrolled for the german bundeswehr was asked by his supervisor if he knew warzhunder and if he knew anything about sekreeeeeet documents
The mindset that the game can't be beat is one that is all too common, and for good reason, it's easy to just hate the grind and think that it's the only goal, and that's because of the way the game is set up and how it makes money. However, to those who seek enlightenment, one can find the answer to what beating the game truly means, it is to realize that playing what's fun is the true victory of War Thunder. To achieve a state of higher being and enter nirvana, one must detach themselves from the grind, and play the tanks and planes that they find fun, only then will the suffering end. I have been playing the game free to play for years, and during that time I have unlocked hundreds of vehicles, but never did I feel disheartened and sad, for I just played the game for the fun of it, never for the sake of the grind. Head my teachings, share them with those in need, and you shall find peace beneath the cosmos.... at least until the nerf the thing you find fun :)
Honestly, same. I have bought premium vehicles, it no premium time or any of that. I just want some vehicles and play with those. I wanted and abrams and they have a premium abrams. I want a Pershing and unlocked it after a year. I also wanted the Sherman 76 and got it on my way to the Pershing. I just play to get what I want to mess around with. Never have I tried to grind to the top, just til I got my favorite tanks. Now I’m happy. This is the only reason I still play.
this kinda mindset only works for as long as vehicles you enjoy are ww2. I hate ww2 and don't want anything to do with pre-60s stuff so i kinda HAD to grind to get to the fun part.
heratic the weight of your sins shall stay your feet and you will be left behind every tank every plane then and only then will god except you in to the kingdom of heaven lay down your money give your credit card number brothers left your hands praise the snail.
incredibly cringe opinion, the original Warthunder content (pre-1953) is the most realistic and best modeled. The physics engine, game-modes and maps are designed for those vehicles, not for the modern crap. The most skilled players play WW2 exclusively, because high-tier is a poorly designed unbalanced shitshow
I want to add that there is also a secret Hangar Music that randomly might start playing when you have Italy selected, Yes, Bella Ciao is still in the game and it is a random super rare event that can happen and you can listen to it on the hangar.
the fact that stars are astronomicaly accurate is really neat, i noticed it a few weeks ago while in a test drive, i was curious to see if they had put attention to this detail (astronomy is one of my hobbies) and when i saw that i could see Orion and the pleiades i instantly knew that meant the night sky was fully modeled
I used to play Operation Flashpoint from when it came out in 2001 and I was stunned as it was the first game I had ever played that had accurate skybox (ie stars, solar positions, phases of the moon), weather and dynamic sound effects. I am glad that WT does it too.
but for a game supposedly all about realism, theres no way that is3 wouldve survived, armour integrity is a real thing, the is3 is only cast armour too, not composite or anything but yes, not the best clip to show russian bias, wouldve been better if he showed the any of the later war anything or t-34 mantlet black holes

A bit more about the music: -The original hangar music isn’t a lab original composition for the game but a Mozart piece (IIRC). -Fittingly for the Russian devs/composers, a lot of the music added for the ground battles is very Russian or Soviet in nature with all the percussion and low brass, which is a really great theme not just for the Russian tanks but the WWII era for ground battles in general -“Advance Australia” is the German menu theme but also plays for Australian vehicles too (or at least it used to? Haven’t played in a while) -There are old themes for the UK that have since been replaced. Both sets of music are pretty good though, although the older music is more evocative of old war thunder and that image of a strapping British pilot with some sense of nobility about him. The new music is much more imperial and grandiose. -The new top tier music pieces always begin with a minute or so for a quiet section that allows for the battle to get started or for planes to get in the air. -The actual war thunder theme was absent from the game for some time after the New Power update and its new theme song (the one with synth and drums at the start). Now, the old theme plays after a nation menu theme finishes (they used to loop) and then goes through other songs from the soundtrack. Also, the only (intentional) photorealistic person in the game is on Bong’s P-38, which has a picture of his wife Marge as it did in reality.
I love their April fools events cause they’re almost always really cool ways to test new features which is such a cool way to do it. Gives people a good way to test things while not changing the actual game before the features are completed
I'm just an Ace Combat fan and I wanted to play other online aircraft games and this and DCS appeared.... Honestly I don't find confortable with one or the other. This is like Gacha Mobages hell or in some ways, even worse
By the way there was also a player strike on war thunder, where a lot of players including myself just didn’t play the game for either a day or 2. Maybe even a week. They also had their favourite and best supporting content creators basically go against them with few also striking. It was beautiful.
I've realised how much I loved Cold War Vehicles from War Thunder after looking them and they History up. The Game taught me more about History then a History Teacher.
I find it odd that Gaijin doesn’t allow swastikas in War Thunder for German vehicles yet they’ll allow stickers that say “For Stalin” “blood for blood” and “death to German enemies” all in Russian and Czech. You should’ve also included that.
Slight Correction: For a nuke in arcade you need to kill 15 players (not including the points you gain over time) In Realistic you need around 10 kills, and also some captures and kill assists, I had 2400 SP and only had 9 kills, but I had 2 captures.
I think the nuke torpedo's came about because of the Submarine April Fools Event. If I'm remembering correctly, they had to increase the damage values of the torpedos for the event to be able to sink submarines. Fortunately for the player base, they used the same models as normal in-game torpedos that could be equipped to planes, or they increased the values for all torpedos for the event, resulting in some really nutty gameplay

11:50 Incorrect you don't need 20 kills you need ~2500 mission score. So about 10 kills without dying (still possible whilst having death) ALSO fun fact. You can bring the cost of the nuke down with the "Airstrike" modification on light tanks!!
I have to say, jungle isn’t really a random place in the jungle. It is located on Guadalcanal which was the location of the campaign of the same name. This evident from the text Cape Esperance being visible on the map which is where one of the many night action naval battles took place. Jungle is a little west of where the battle of Alligator Creek happened which was the first major ground action of the Guadalcanal campaign. It’s actually pretty cool
I’d like to just say that the skin they are discussing about on the PE-8 was originally a USER skin that was eventually added in by Gaijin themselves due to the popularity of it. The hidden image was not originally seen by developers until after its addition to the game. Just because the game is developed by a company originally established in a Russian occupied country doesn’t mean it’s any kind of favoritism. It just means it was overlooked at first glance.

So the game is terribly designed, because it non stop pushes on you the higher tiers and FOMO making the player feel awful in order to make more money. A game should be fun by deafult, if you need to ignore majority of what the game pushes on you, then it's a toxic and badly designed game
7:02 Apparently, the weather affects shell velocity. The colder it is, the more your shell will drop.
Yeah it also affects certain flight performance too apparently. Not that you can really notice haha. Cool that it exists, feels like one of those legacy features from a time when devs would just "add cool stuff" without having to think if it would actually matter.
@@Polterbunit's very noticeable in spain air battles. While on the literal desert maps you obviously sweat tf out of your engine and quickly heats it up, it's still not as fast as when playing in spain where even if the weather is just tropical, the humidity is high and planes overheats after 5 minutes of full throttle
@@piscessoedroen Yeah lol, you reminded me of that. Spain was always weirdly mega hot. I wonder if humidity effects engines like it does me lol? You'd think a desert would be hotter, but I know that humidity is a crazy modifier at least for me irl.

War thunder has actually gotten a lot better lately as far as grind goes. It used to be MUCH worse and it hit mostly negative on steam because of it.
Ending hit like a freight train
That ending hit me hard
Really made me think, with all it's flaws and gaijin's terrible practices, War thunder doesn't deserve and shouldn't ever be shut down
The ending was like Call of duty World at war ending
For the Advance Australia theme, it was originally intended for Australia, thus why some Australian vehicles have the theme, but it was switched to Germany after the original Germany theme, Ride of the Valkyries, was was replaced due to I think Copyright stuff.
Advance Australia? More like Advance Austria
Woaaah WarThunder Buddha showing us the path to nirvana
incredibly cringe opinion, the original Warthunder content (pre-1953) is the most realistic and best modeled.
Im addicted to these "warthunder history" videos. Ive rewatched this 100 times already
the fact that stars are astronomicaly accurate is really neat, i noticed it a few weeks ago while in a test drive, i was curious to see if they had put attention to this detail (astronomy is one of my hobbies) and when i saw that i could see Orion and the pleiades i instantly knew that meant the night sky was fully modeled
I used to play Operation Flashpoint from when it came out in 2001 and I was stunned as it was the first game I had ever played that had accurate skybox (ie stars, solar positions, phases of the moon), weather and dynamic sound effects. I am glad that WT does it too.
for the is3 clip at 10:24, they were all shooting the strongest part and the comment section was annihilating the original poster for his stupidity
but for a game supposedly all about realism, theres no way that is3 wouldve survived, armour integrity is a real thing, the is3 is only cast armour too, not composite or anything
but yes, not the best clip to show russian bias, wouldve been better if he showed the any of the later war anything or t-34 mantlet black holes

@woober3480 i do wish armor would weaken if you shoot the same place multiple times, but even with that, a t26 has almost no chance of going through an is 3 from the front. Theres a reason nato developed a 120mm that fires heat and apds to counter it.

A bit more about the music:
-The original hangar music isn’t a lab original composition for the game but a Mozart piece (IIRC).
-Fittingly for the Russian devs/composers, a lot of the music added for the ground battles is very Russian or Soviet in nature with all the percussion and low brass, which is a really great theme not just for the Russian tanks but the WWII era for ground battles in general
-“Advance Australia” is the German menu theme but also plays for Australian vehicles too (or at least it used to? Haven’t played in a while)
-There are old themes for the UK that have since been replaced.
The original hanger music was a playlist of 5-6 different tracks, one of which was Beethoven's symphony #7

I have to say, jungle isn’t really a random place in the jungle. It is located on Guadalcanal which was the location of the campaign of the same name.
