This was great. Thanks so much. Not a med student but these are superb videos to help understand one's health and how to approach these subjects with a physician. I studied medicine adjacent subjects when I was at uni so these vids are pitched at the perfect level for the understanding that I am looking for. Always great vids.
Walking hot cold showers swimming and lifting helped me. Now I treat aspirin and Tylenol like a opioid so it really helps. But this just worked for me...good luck anyone else under pain management ....and I'm talking physical pain lol
Brilliant video, so helpful thanks. I was just wondering how you would explain to patients why an antidepressant or anticonvulsant is being used for pain? I have come across a few people who take offense to being prescribed these meds for pain, so it would be helpful to understand the reasoning behind it if possible? Thank you
There are several ways to approach this, depending on the individual. it may be helpful to distinguish between the sensory "it feels sharp" and affective "it is excruciating, I can't bear it" aspects of pain. Explain that antidepressants might not affect the sensory signals, but can help with the affective response. Amitriptyline is usually used at lower doses than it would be for depression. Anticonvulsants help calm down the nerve signals transmitting pain.
From Pakistan I really enjoyed ur videos I am ur big fans plz i just wanna know how u make possible this types editing and presentation sir plz I am impressed from your videos.
Thanks for the great video! I was wondering if there was any plan to release flashcards for the peadiactric session? The flashcards have been amazing for the general medicine section!
From the book … BECOMING Dr. Q. … My Journey from Migrant Farm Worker to Brain Surgeon … author … Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa I increasingly understood why Santiago Ramón y Cajal argued that before we seek to understand the universe, we must first study and unravel the mysteries of the brain. We need to be astronauts of inner space.
@we-must-live I narrowed it down to energetic subatomic particles over ten years ago. I built a shielding room and it takes 30 seconds to a few minutes to go from 10 pain to no pain; the correlation is 100% as well as seen on space weather stack plots. I shared this with others and they have the Same results, including Fibromyalgia surprisingly.

I'm 41 and was hit by a bus June 20 last year and received a non displaced nose fracture and broken rib and around 5 weeks later began to feel tingling in forehead and facial pain, even now I live with chronic facial pain tingling burning forehead and what feels like pain deep in my nose that is like a constant migraine. The neurologist did a MRI and neurological exam and tried Lyrica and Sodium valproate sandoz but here I' am still in pain and discomfort. now I'm being sent to a pain management service that I have to wait another 2 months for. I hope there can be nerve blocks or something that will ease it.
Norco work the best for me is actually not overstimulating can uplift your mood and causes pain relief. It’s the only clean drug that I’ve ever taken. It’s actually worked. A little bit can actually help for 5 mg or an intense case of 7.5 or 10 mg either way this is the best drug out there that actually helps people with pain.
Yet again another vidio explains fully pain management of chronic condition , As a layman trying to absorb all terms which are not explained by Doctors ,Consultants & Rhematologists the main reason being time limit of say 10 minutes for example because of pressure of there job and work load, Each person I have met deals with chronic pain different in my case Ankolosing Spondylitis for 50 years flare ups are common and in younger days coping was somewhat better by having the distraction of work , In later years retirement gives more thinking time unfortunately and not so physically fit pain and sleepless nights hit and miss,Having to fall back on medication and side effects of upset stomach problems although treatable does not help anger or feelings, I had a pain management course with National Health service a few years back now which worked up to a point but to be honest some members of group gave up commenting a waste of time there chronic pain was so severe I guess would not even give it a chance. On and off for me causes a spin off of negative thought at times effecting quality of life relying on wife and children for support . The point I am trying to make that the medical profession does not deal with these matters in my opinion effectively,I have been a Guinea pig at my Rhematologists by young students looking at my posture and kyphoses of spine, I would not exspect young medical students to understand my condition as outwardly my appearance face to face does not seem to severe they seem at times to look confused I try to explain but of course not like a professional doctor would as his great knowledge has all the correct terms this if frustrating to me , But Hey ho life goes on still a lot of research going on thank goodness,I’ve said my piece, Very good vidio & information explains a lot, 👍😆
A great video I really enjoyed and well described simply. Unfortunately one major flaw and it is one holding pain science in the dark ages. @3:59 Calling Nociceptors "Pain Receptors" and then putting "Nociceptor" in speech marks as though you could call it that if you like, is totally wrong. Nociceptors are harm receptors sending out a harm or potential harm signal, it doesn't become pain (and may not) depending on what the brain decides. The signals are nociception - not pain signals, poor use of this language really stops pain for being seen in its true nature and purpose, just an alarm signal bring the problem to conscious awareness. If it still taught as pain receptors then shame on the medical schools and no wonder pain Management and Medication are seen as the only options when in reality Chronic Pain Release Therapies are now available.
Great work mate. Diamorphine (heroin) is used in UK health? interesting. The new NICE guidelines make more sense than any others. Medical cannabis might be in an exam in 2050 at the current rate...
Why not mention Norco or if I get in at the 14 minute mark there’s no mention of this drug which is super helpful and has helped me for years. The reason why they don’t talk about it this because it actually works and they don’t want people on what works they want you on what doesn’t work so I can make more money off you and keep you always looking for something that does, but never does

Thanks! Keeping the body moving and meditation have helped me. I’ve had pain because I had an unnecessary and harmful surgery when I was a teenager.
