Finally some VIDA! It's a requirement for our R's and now you know why.
I'll skip the air quality and lamps and stuff, those are obvious.
DEM-0006 - Your AWD Volvo is currently FWD, congratulations! We're twins lol. Haldex AOC pump, pressure sensor (I believe yours is 40 bar, check your VIN to make sure!), fluid and filter all need changed. You're lucky it didn't fry your DEM like mine
ECM-434C - Likely refers to the EVAP system rather than the fuel system. Check your gas cap! If not that make sure your vacuum check valves under the hood are operating correctly.
SUM-0113 - Make sure the accelerometer on the strut is plugged in, if so it may be faulty. These are pricey but easy to replace. You can also try to go into your SUM under the "Vehicle Communications" tab > Parameter > Click on the sensors and it should bring up the voltages for those sensors. Edit: Did this before watching the whole video, forgot you have coilovers!
As for the CEM-Q1F00 I'm not sure. This may be in relation to your tune, but I've never seen this code before. Edit: You mentioned it, once again didn't watch beyond seeing the codes lol
Good luck and have fun with your VIDA! Super handy! Dave Leach is the man, although I didn't get mine from him.
FCP has all of this stuff!

@@ShiftingLanes the only massively concerning one is DEM-0006. As long as that code is stored, your R is FWD. Also. Those little colored boxes to the side of the code gives you a timeline/frequency that the codes occur. It keeps a constant log, and they aren't just "static" codes like normal PO codes. The bright orange is >60% occurence I believe, so those are pretty much guaranteed to come back. Be careful clearing the DEM code because it will try to run the pump again and can fry your DEM ($~500 to rebuild on top of the $350 pump, $140 sensor and $55 in fluid/filter). If that DEM code comes back I'd recommend either clearing all other codes individually, or pulling the Haldex fuse so you don't run that pump every time you clear the codes until the pump is replaced and Haldex is serviced. (My Haldex fuse is #23 in the trunk, 7.5 amp). *If that fuse is still in place and you get a CEM code stating a loss of communication with the DEM it's done for*. It will either blow that fuse and that means the DEM is most likely shorted to ground or the DEM will blow open circuit.
Edit: You should do a video on that pump replacement! There isn't one out there for Haldex 3!

Fuel system major leak is usually a leak in the EVAP system in the rear of the car. There is a charcoal box under the rear of the car and the J shaped hose that goes behind the charcoal box commonly gets a tear in it and throws the code.

That and gas cap are the most common issues for evap leaks!

  • @youtubasoarus
    @youtubasoarus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Had the "minor evap leak detected" on the dash before. Check your gas cap o-ring. Could be cracked like mine was, allowing some pressure to escape triggering the fault. If so, you can flip the o-ring around to the good side and it's all good. Or you can buy a new cap if you wish. Cheap and easy to check. :)

Had my own VIDA module pretty much since I had my S60 for over five years, now. It's DEFINITELY a must-have. Not only does it scan for Volvo-exclusive DTCs, but it can also be used to fix certain issues, change some minor features in your Volvo---it's even got a parts catalog pretty much catered to your VIN! And I'm probably missing a couple of other benefits! :D

Do a Haldex service of swapping the fluids. Hopefully its not the pump.
Also, VIDA works from 1999 to 2015, at least for VIDA 2014D which is what you're using. I would've recommended checking on the Firmware upgrade before doing the tune. ME7 is not that hard to work with. Clear the codes, and then see what pops up again.

Finally the obligatory VIDA video! I had the pressure sensor (DEM-0007) go bad not too long after installing an EST catback so it might have been heat related. If the DEM goes you're looking at close to 1K through Xemodex or 2,5K+ at a dealer. For a little peace of mind I installed the IPD DEM cover to protect it from the elements.

I had a DEM-0006 code some months ago. R was FWD. Changes the AOC pump, filter and fluid. Now AWD works perfectly. DEM-0008 is what i believe the whole DEM unit is faulty or at least the pressure sensor which in newer is 80BAR.
    Good luck!

If the DEM goes entirely you'll most likely get a CEM error showing a loss of communication with the DEM. The power circuit blows. I believe 0008 is for the sensor. I recommend replacing that with the pump anyway.

AWD=winter awesomeness. Side effect is the magnesium chloride they spray on the roads to melt the salt.. My SR is garaged for the winter... although the roads were clear and a drove it 2 days this week. I love the car too much to let the corrosive salt get the best of it. I plan to coat the unibody with eastwoods internal frame coating and then hit it with noxudol cavity wax this year. Volvo's corrosion warranty is what led me to the brand... and now I need to goto VOA(volvo owners anonymous) because I have 2 and am looking for another... Already started accumulating spare P2R parts, picked up a spare m66 just in case and always keep an eye out for another P2R or any volvo with the yamaha 4.4L v8. Love the sound of the yamaha v8.

Hurrah for Pegasus wheels back on R. The Atacama interior also rules. Don't forget to give a call to Erie Vo-Vo about anything DEM related. In my car DEM pump died after 150K, was not that cheap but the only way to keep the AWD. One more request here for the pump replacement. About the EVAP issue, check if the fuel pump top is not cracked, they are prone to that for Volvo of those years.

Air quality sensor, very very common fault.
Lift the hood, remove the windscreen wiper arms, remove the black deck panel.
In the heater air intake hole there is a sensor that you just need to twist and turn to remove.
VW audi use the same part. MUCH cheaper from VW (or find one on ebay but search for VW air quality sensor).
What it does is chose when the A/c draws air in from outside when the air conditioning is set at 'recycle'. It will draw air in when the air is clean and good.
99% of Volvos have that component failed. Easy fix.

Car is driven harder, mistakes can be made during shifting causing early engine problems and electronic/sensor problems, more wearables, requires more maintenance, and it's just a comparison to what people believe of how manual cars are better in every way as almost all manual cars will require more repairs than automatics do in almost every circumstance.
