That "20 minute load time" is bull. I play the PU and PTU regularly, on a piece of crap laptop, and have never seen anything even approaching that. Those kinds of load times are either a HDD/SSD issue (I only raise the possibility to give the benefit of the doubt) or it is bullshit.
Those are highly unusual load times to the point where when you were loading into the main menu it took more than a few seconds, same for the mobiGlas UI and when you looked out the window, there was no sprawling city scape. Your SSD may not have had any buffer space for temporary files. This may explain the crashes as well. The game goes free every second half of May and November so you can try it again next year post-4.0.
First time, it’s better to be with an actual SC player, unfortunately there are some bugs that we know how to avoid, and noobs just keep crashing on it. SC community is so helpful and if you ask on chat I’m sure someone will help you out. Don’t leave SC like this, there is so much fun in there. And for the content you upload, I’m 100% confident that you will love this game. See you in the vers!
performance in SC is heavily server reliant, and not that there is ever a good time for servers in SC but freeplay is absolutely the worst time, also SC graphical performance is almost entirely CPU bottle necked so it almost doesn't matter what video card you have, there is about 5fps betwee min and max graphics
Either upgrade your PC or internet. I log in and it takes me 20 seconds to get in game. This is a your system problem. Everyone ignores the fact that that $700 million is split between two games an MMO and a three part single player campaign AND building a company. They were not an established developer, they built the whole company from our pledges. So I would guess we are looking at more closely $250 million for Star Citizen directly.
Was the game installed on a SSD? Because if it wasn't... that would explain a lot of the issues you had (that and the fact that free fly weeks the servers just burn down from people trying the game) And though the game says it needs 16gb RAM... 32 would be ideal
This is probably already a smoother experience than what 90% of players have. I have it installed on an SSD, it's a huge struggle to get a mission done without a bug forcing me to abandon it and lose my gear. This game straight up doesn't function. It's a mess.
@@seban678 I wasn't even referring to that. Missions have like 50% chance of bugging out in my experience. I just noticed that New Babbage didn't even load when he looked out the window, and usually that is a streaming issue, which, normally, means slow reading speeds, and that's either hdd/ssd, or ram bottleneck.
@@seban678 So to recap, you're saying that you, on an SSD who can get out of the habs, take off, accept a mission, and only have an in-game bug affect your ability to complete it, have a less smooth experience than a video of someone unable to leave habs?
New Babbage will be the most taxing starting location on anyones PC as well as freefly being heavy on the servers, that being said the game really isnt even worth trying to play if you have anything other than a higher end PC its just not optimized and always in flux from patch to patch. Ive been playing since 2017 and the game has evolved lightyears since then in both performance and content and the actual technical bones of the project. Just saying 700mil 700mil and it doesnt work seems appropriate without all that context im sure but 700mil freely given in the Hope that the devs will accomplish something most wouldn't even attempt much less try and fail and try again paints it in a different light especially when we are starting to see things really bare fruit.
GTA 6 has cost like 2 Billion in development and is only 2-3 years less in development than SC and Squadron. I would recommend trying the Spectrum Guide system and asking around even just in game for help and tips.
CIG would happily spend "Thousands and thousands of pounds" for conventions because they know they're going to make millions from ship sales/announcements
The free fly event also had a giant in game expo at new Babbage which made it somewhat unstable for the past few weeks. Did you buy the game? If so keep an ear out for the 4.0 release
if you think they spent all 700M on the game you have a very low IQ. You couldn't for one second even think about the tax bracket or the amount of money that went to building new offices and studios or legal. Thinking they have spent 700M on game development and then running with it is beyond stupid.
700million over 12 years (2012 was the start of it all) isnt a lot on average thats like 58ish million a year however that means if they made a steady income year to year it wouldnt be a lot that the crowd funding does CIG has roughly 1000 employees also assuming that each only made 60k a year thats roughly 60million a year out of there pocket for staff. CiG was probably most profitable during the early years of development and some selected years up to this point. that being said for perspective COD bo6 was in development for 4 years bo6 marketing was roughly 150 million while im unable to find an exact price on bo6 development cost its rumored that it was slightly more then marketing and that marketing almost ended up costing more then development so to keep it on the low end ill just say 175million that means in 4 years they had 325million extremely roughly over 4 years to make and market bo6 was 81.25 million yearly keep in mind that this game has a lot of re used assets from games before while most of SC was produced ground up not to mention they are funding 2 games with the profit of 1 game they are an extremely poor company which is prob why they over price ships. Also note that playing during IAE or ILW event always kills the game there is a massive surge that they are never ready for back in 2018 during alpha 3.4 my first time playing wasnt that rough sure some server crashes. 700m is nothing for a BIG MMO game, for a company to make 2 games, sq42 and star citizen at the same time over 13 years is not alot of money, considering, game tech development, wages, marketing, big events like citizen con every year. But comparing this to a game like gta 6 nearly same development time and rumored $2billion budget.
