No this is just PERFECT! I love it. Finally... Someone in CIG watches Avenger One and is taking his feedback. Thank you whoever you are! :) Much more can be done, obviously... Like giving us options to change the color with some kind of slider or knob... Being able to save individual settings to individual ships... And even create trigger events, like - when I am on NAV mode I want this HUD, when I am on SCM mode I want the advanced HUD, we can assign that so that the change can happen on the fly!
@@-_Nuke_-respectfully, I’d rather CIG put thought effort into a best setup and just give it to us so we can play the game without having to understand arcane HUD customization strategies
This is awesome...you can have the normal "new" mfd's for industry ships (thats just more fitting) and the ADV HUD for combat and precision flying. I love this.
Fantastic! I will be using the Advanced HUD from now on. If you want to see your bullet count, cast it to the helmet. That is exactly why they put it there. No reason to put it on the HUD, when you can cast it to your helmet.
Awesome in-depth guide, thanks! Also this HUD is really smooth. It works well, is readable, minimalist yet informative, and has pleasing animations with no artistic fluff.
I learned one thing in this video. That is, that I am not stuck with the stupid console like standard HUD and that there is an advanced mode, which is even better than what I liked before master mode.
Thank you for this video A1! I was really hoping they would make an option to bring back the old hood and here they are. I'm glad I'm following you and learning new things about the Star Citizen from you! Cheers bro!
I think a more important thing to add to the hud is customizations, especially the ability to add a transparent gray background to the hud elements so we can still see and read them even against a bright background such as the ice of microtech. But really, adding ammo count could be an element that could be added thru a customization screen. I'd also like to be able to add an element to again show emissions numbers, but with a simple km distance number for the current value rather than the graph/number combos that it used to be. Hud customization could become its own mini-game lol. Wouldn't it be nice to see a list of all your currently loaded cargo when in tractor-beam mode?
You should fly in atmosphere below 1KM; the newest 4.0 build has real altitude + descent and ascent rate baked in (finally); for the first time in SC, I was able to fly by instruments only. Was neat
That looks excellent compared to current PU. Also very informative and well put together, even with the sore throat. Thanks for struggling through to get some good info out there
They forgot to put an acceleration limiter indicator (should be the notch bar in the boost bar as its easiest visual and is not needed to show boost power amount). They also forgot to put indicators for ship lights in the HUD or dashboard. I don't like HUDs where icons shift position or where HUD animates for no reason as it messes up muscle memory to at-glance ID stuff. Aside from that, its good they made this hud but overall its just a prettied up and less functional version of what we had years ago. But it is leaps and bounds from what post MM HUD was turned into. Your video is excellent to show and teach the HUD so kudos! :)
I took a couple years off and had no idea this hud was available and needed to be enabled. I've been flying around with little to no info on my hud the last couple of weeks 🤣
I doubt I'll use the new HUD as I don't do much ship combat these days, but it is very clean and very easy to read. Definitely looking forward to how all of this will play out with the engineering and the tutorials for ship combat related to those changes.
Excellent explanation, A1. Thanks. There is still a display that I would like within this HUD. In the old HUD we had some sort of 3d representation of space that had a sort of velocity directional position. I don't know what it's called or even truly how to describe it other than there was a center point that was you. You had an up axis, a down axis, a forward reverse, and side strafe axis. Then you had a dot that would show the direction that you were going and that would move around the center in a spherical representation of space around you. I see they given us something to replace that with the cross and thruster input and then the plus and negative but this seems sort of lacking in Spatial representation. I'm not a top gun pilot though, so maybe it doesn't matter.
starting to feel like CIG is finally listening to feedback all of a sudden, and the game is on a road to its proper place, also looks like if you were able to boost long enough that your personal preferred fight speed can be achieved for dog fighting, and given that they talked about modifying your ship to make it even better, i can only imagine that you could improve how long your boost can last so it could potentially last closer to TTK durations, meaning that you would have that near 500m/s speed for combat if you just keep it boosting during the fight. I'm not sure how you fight without the casts showing your shield status and enemy shield/damage status to know when your recharged or not etc. is there a way to monitor this easily without just feeling it from years of practice?
where do you get the idea from that upgrading ships in tiers is a matter of skill expression on flight like they promised the game would be? this is an MMO-ification, it's terrible. the whole boosting thing they have going now is also just plain terrible nonsense magic. all they did is give back the old HUD, pretty it up for readability, as long as you have a green space background, and not even give back acceleration limiter display. this is not an improvement, it's a foul compromise.
There are a few additions to the hud when you hit atmo, like VSI which is probably my favourite addition. Things I'd like to see added: - Distance to target (as a static hud entry, rather than dynamic on actual target reticle) - Target's current speed (same as above)
The only reason I won't watch the playlist is because I don't wanna invest time learning something that might change really soon. I'll leave it running to support the channel, though. Thanks for the great content.
the new hud is pretty cool. on a side tangent, with decoupled mode, it would be interesting if it was more realistic, in that you theoretically have no limit to your top speed, as your thrusters will push you faster and faster. sure, it could cause some balancing issues, and you'd have people taking their auroras to warp 10 before oneshotting a bengal, but I think it would be a cool change for those who are more interested in more advanced flight mechanics based on more realistic physics.
I just want my ship to stop slowing itself down with voodoo magic when I let go of the boost in scm mode whilst decoupled and in deep space with no gravity, and to be able to go from nav mode to scm without losing momentum until you bleed it yourself providing you're outside of atmosphere.
@@iKennectz I kinda like the abrupt stop from the switch. fly as fast as you can towards your destination, then when you get close to the landing zone, switch from nav to scm, flip on your VTOL, drop the landing gear, mash the boost, and hope you don't black out from the sudden Gs. can get a carrack to stop in record time lol
I'd be happy if they removed the cap on rotation speeds. People forget that about real newtonian physics, there should be no such thing as 'rate fighting' in space.
This HUD should just he default.idk what the hell they are thinking making you go into the mfds or making it a keybind for every little thing.they seem to be doubling down on it though,so i have no hope in it changing any time soon.😢
The advanced HUD is much closer to what a set of flight instruments SHOULD look like. Ribbons are good. We need more. The altimeter and the Radalt should be on ribbons as well when in atmosphere instead of numbers. The VSI should be an indicator alongside those that rises up or down depending on rate of climb or descent and indicates hundreds of feet per minute (or metres per minute if CIG are set on that, eugh).
Side note, i miss having the helmet visible in first person, plus they could probably have each helmet have a different style and weakness, like different visor shapes
man you have got to upload in higher than 1080p. even if you just upscale the video before uploading. youtube compression makes the small details on the hud completely unreadable when you're moving around in deep space.
Oh my. Look at RSI Spectrum today. So many complaining about dying in Pyro. Sure you need logistics to prepare for hostilities. but the Location is unbalanced. where is the attrition of resources and hostile environments that prevented people from haplessly traveling? Because they needed the resources? But what many of the PVE players dont understand, they are at a greater disadvantage now because of the flight model sucking them into a black hole. I bet More of them are dying now than at any time in Star Citizen history. you got people who are upset with the flight model activity taking advantage of how slow and helpless it makes inexperienced players. Yogi is just not thinking. he has a totally different vision of Star Citizen . and i dont agree with it. sad.
I love it my only thought is i don't need fuel level that large or personally not in my face at all. Maybe something that could be on the top of the dash. Or much smaller. Somehow
Advanced should be the default HUD!! They finally cleared up the HUD and increase visability, then decide to put this ridiculous Cast in the top left. It is annoying as hell and, by default, should be turned off!!!!
So stupid and over complicated for no reason. If its one thing I hate about MM its that stupid pause between switching speeds. OK you want some timer before you can accelerate fine. But I should be able to hold the button down the whole times until it kicks in. I shouldn't have to let go of the boost button then hit it a again once Nav mode kicks in. Even from a mechanical stand point this makes no sense. Full throttle, is full throttle it should know to accelerate once it comes into power. You shouldn't have to full throttle again. Fken stupid. I also hate the breaking speed to SCM speeds. Have a speed limit ok. But boost speeds need to be closer to SCM speeds and the SCM speeds should be much higher.
I if a HUD in a game needs and explain video than there is something wrong already. Anyway I like the new HUD and the advanced options better than any SC HUD before. The problem for me though is that everything is so tiny when you increase your FOV on UW to 120 or 130...
