    37:41 Can you spawn in your base or group bed log?
    38:20 Bases in caves or asteroids?
    38:37 Can we start a build using our drones from something like the Starlancer, then leave?
    39:58 What happens when people try to park their Idris where you're trying to build your base?

    42:48 If you pledge for a ship, will you receive a blueprint to craft it?
    43:51 WTF the upgrade system? How does this work?
    51:35 How well will bases blend into the surrounding environment?
    54:11 How will player trading at bases work?

    Summary:
    #1 The only constant in Game Dev is change!
    #2 Player bases uses:
    * backbone of player to player interaction, personal activity hubs,
    * focus on player choice (many small, one large, specialized, generalist)
    * nearly every core gameplay loop will have basebuilding equiv, which will grow as features grow
    #3-5 bases are visible and useable across all shards (7:10)
    * Planet-shielded bases unraidable, undamageable (10:45)
    * If you're online, players can only raid base on your shard, but everyone can see & use base
    * (9:08) If you're offline, attacks on base can happen on single server shard only, everyone can see & use base
    Best practice: offload valuables often, build base shields, turret defenses.
    Will be more updates on this later as tech evolves
    #5 Planetary shields same in high sec, low-sec / lawless (10:45)
    * all buildings immune to attack, theft
    * air shield vs. bombardment
    #6 Do extractors, processors auto-eject or need manual ejection? (11:34)
    * most crafters can hold output in buffer
    * can tell them to auto-eject, protected from theft by permissions
    * some output auto to freight storage
    #7 Underground mineral deposits respawn, rarity & economy? (13:09)
    * Respawn in new locations, "mobile temp bases" concept for extraction, industry
    * sources & sinks, careful balance between inflation & useability
    * WIP challenge to get system design & ingame economy balanced this way
    #8 Building deconstruction (16:42)
    * Drones disassemble, auto-fill material to freight elevator
    * Some, not all material refunded
    * Flexibility to adapt base over time
    * Items disassemble, too, but volatile / rare materials not refunded
    #9 Mining & Salvage Changes (18:10)
    * Single-resource rocks with quality
    * Redesign to biome-based, geography-based resource locations, player knowledge aspect
    * More clear & logical, esp. for newer players; don't "have to" datamine to learn
    * Profession matters: Ship miners find ship mining deposits, FPS, ground vehicle
    * Resources divvied by profession; all three (ship, vehicle, FPS) mining necessary
    * Salvage will allow construction stuffs to choose output type
    #10 Limited-use blueprints? (26:20)
    * SOME are cooldown-based, or limited total uses
    #11 Blueprint Trading (27:18)
    * Yes: "found" datapads in lootcrates (until DL'd to char)
    * No: direct credit from reputation or mission rewards
    #12 "Whatever our version of an auction house will be" (28:20)
    #13 Can use stolen materials to craft (28:28)
    * Can also use (stolen) tems to dismantle for partial refund of crafting parts
    * Recommended loophole for "ownership" tag of stolen items
    #14 How customizable are base materials, colors, shapes? (29:26)
    * Want players to make the base "their own"
    * Colors, logos, decals (also on foundations)
    * Connectable buildings
    #15 Will there be different structure styles in future? (high-tech, shanty, alien) (31:24)
    * Right now focused on high-tech visual style for release
    * Already discussed ranching, trading
    * Next choice: expand current high-tech set with more functionality, or build new aesthetic?
    #16 How to decorate homes that doesn't get physics jank? (32:40)
    * "Decorative ER" - mag-lock things into place, only people with perms can move objects
    * In distant future, will be ways to disable, security-based
    #17 Can you work together to create a base, or charge fee for players to use base services? (35:18)
    * Can collaboratively build bases with friends and orgs
    * Can sell services (crafting & refining machines access, for instance) on base
    #18 Base player spawning (37:41)
    * Medbed / hospital imprint building at base for group gathering
    #19 No bases in caves or on asteroids (38:20)
    * "Not on roadmap right now" = no
    #20 Building drones keep working while you're afk / offline (38:35)
    * If it can't return to its home ship when done, it'll self-destruct and needs "repair" to replace it
    * Time to build still being determined
    * Not possible to land on or interfere where people building in-progress
    #21 Where can space stations be built, and will there be smaller-scale space stations? (40:56)
    * No plan -at the moment- for physically smaller-scale space stations
    * Plans & intentions evolving re: necessary players for space station building
    * Intend to remain open to new tech, feedback, fun factor, changes over time
    * Space stations can be in depths of space, "largely anywhere" with some limitations
    #22 Do you receive crafting blueprint for pledged ships? (42:48)
    * No, has to be earned like everyone else
    * Can upgrade your pledged ship via research, materials
    #23 Tier upgrade system: tiers the same for every ship or different? Customizable? How does it work? (43:45)
    * Still heavily WIP
    * Current plans: Most BPs upgradeable through research
    * Refining BP gets more efficient
    * Repair BP repairs more effective
    * Creation BPs, higher-tier BP = higher tier item output
    * Gun example: stat ranges depending on material quality;
    - higher tier has higher stat range values,
    - "on average better" but dependent on material input quality
    * Higher-tier BPs require more and more advanced materials
    * BPs have "aspects", subcomponents that influence different stats based on material quality
    * Higher-tier BPs allow choice to which subcomponents, stats improve
    * "Upgrade Blueprint" for existing items, ships, ship components,
    - will turn lower-tier item into higher-tier version
    - existing stats don't matter; only new material inputs will affect stats
    Note: WIP Balancing act between t1 base version of items, ships, and their potential improvements via crafting.
    #24 How well will bases blend into surrounding environment? (51:35)
    * Color tinting to match biome (player choice)
    * Can place buildings around trees instead of on them, to keep trees
    * Some buildings increase or reduce signature of base for detection
    * Terrain manipulation: Don't want full player customization here
    * Some buildings do light terrain change, like to match stairs to terrain
    * Majority require foundations to line buildings up correctly
    #25 Player trading at bases (54:10)
    * Seller can put goods in freight elevator and connect to a sale kiosk, make Mobiglas ad on "MoTrader"
    * Seller can "maglock" goods for display for sale, only unlocked if purchased
    * Buyer can place buy order on Mobiglas ad, asking for delivery at a location
    * Player trading will be largely base-based, but player choice whether local shops or collab marketplaces
    #26 Land Claims, current thinking & intention (subject to change, feedback, better ideas): (56:10)
    * Still part of game design
    * General plots (build anything)
    * Cheaper prospector plot (for mining, temporary, smaller size & cost)
    * Square preview of land claim place or expansion,
    * Cost scales up w surface area owned on a planet
    * Beacon skips initial UEC purchase cost & plonks down your square where you want it
    * Loss of ownership for not paying tax = planetary shield loss, others can claim or raid
    * Some no-build zones preserved for resources, explo
    * Exclusion zone around your plot so no one can buy/build to box you in
    United Munchers, Haulers, and Industrialists send their gratitude!
    And floss for all the rocks, ships, and rare science bits stuck between teeth around the 'verse!

    • @user-ky8je2qj3z
      @user-ky8je2qj3z หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @r92871 artificially limiting trading sharing or copying blueprints, while allowing super easy barely inconvenience hacking of security systems and legal records tho? Seems a good way to make it feel like an artificial, fabricated, unrealistic situation.
      crafting limits should be more about the actual time a recipie takes or the challenge or cost to getting the items it calls for... maybe a special fabricator requires a cooldown.. but limiting your character's ability to just simply do what they know how to do?..
      Sometimes it's like they're running " the producers" but as a game..
      If the plans are bound then you better lose all those bound ones when death of a spaceman happens... but maybe the smart money says they scrap the death of your character plan and it goes on the "after 1.0" pile.. so to speak

    • @NomadHorizon
      @NomadHorizon หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @user-ky8je2qj3z But in real life, you can build something without the previous knowledge of how to do it. Even in construction, professionals still use blueprints in order to know how to build that particular building. Does anybody have access to those blueprints that you have? No. So why would they do that in SC? They wouldn't because it upsets the balance of rewards. These crafting and base blueprints are not "public knowledge," and its important that they aren't. Why should a solo player be able to craft a Bengal? It should require a blueprint from a mission reward from a mission that likely takes an org size man power in order to obtain.

    • @user-ky8je2qj3z
      @user-ky8je2qj3z หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NomadHorizon you seem somewhat confused. If I buy a blueprint in real life, or steal one, I can make copies; people who steal them from me can copy them.
      The consequences I might face from the law should dicourage me from it but cannot artificially prevent those copies being made...
      so none of the real life points really track...
      even if a platform has a "read-only" or "display only" setting, someone should be able to jot down or record every dimension and material and step of process whike viewing...
      otherwise "blueprints" has to just mean "not-user-readable, unhashable file that player/character doesn't so much **learn** as have **attributed** to their inventory" which again is like having digital keys for unlocked catalogue of items/designs."
      And even then that should be plausible enough to hack or copy when security systems and criminal records are planned as hackable..
      so I don't get how the discussion even got confused here.

    • @NomadHorizon
      @NomadHorizon หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-ky8je2qj3z Sure, hacking into databases should allow you to hijack information that otherwise isn't publicly known. But also too, if you want to steal blueprints from someone, they said there would be data pads that you can collect that have blueprints on them. Pirates will still be able to hijack those without the need of hacking. I'm sure there will be something in the future to obtain blueprints attributed to someone, but they're just laying out the ground work right now for 4.0 cycle. Things are going to change and ultimately will change so everyone and their play styles will have access in some sort of way to everything.

    A question about the upgrade process. It was discussed about upgrading a ships speed, or maneuvering thrusters, but would it also be possible to upgrade a ship to equipe a size larger weapon, or shield? Maybe some other components to a size larger then what comes stock?

    • @Paisa231
      @Paisa231 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Isnt tha determined to the hardpoint.. as the components is physicalised. So you cant "make" your shipframe bigger so you can use capital size, insted of Large component f.ex. This would make some crazy ship shapes.. and Im very sure this isnt something CIG wants, or is easy to do.

      @David-iz2pc 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Paisa231 CIG (specifically Jared on isc) has stated that you would be able to put bigger weapons on. But the downside would be slower turning speed for turrets. I don't remember them talking about gimbaled weapons. So not sure if that pertains to just turrets or not.

      @Paisa231 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @David-iz2pc that sounds strange, as the mounting size determine size of weapons along with the physical dimensions. Never heard about that.

      As someone who has been a backer since 2014, the fact that they're making these kinds of videos is a strong indicator that they are actively working on these base-building features and they will be added in one of the next major updates. If CIG isn't actively talking about a feature, it's probably not being worked on and should not be expected anytime soon unless they start talking about it. Since 1.0 includes many features that aren't being actively talked about, don't expect 1.0 for several years. If I am understanding in-game refinery crafting correctly, I assume there will be in-game NPC locations that offer higher tier quality materials. There would have to be some way for players to get higher quality materials to craft higher tier products that is outside the player-made product loop. Example, going to New Babbage would have higher tier materials versus a asteroid located refinery station.

    • @ivanshiek
      @ivanshiek หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the higher tier (more rare) materials would need to be mined or explored. I'm sure the medium tier materials could be at NPC areas and hidden outposts that have mined them. Basic tier can be found in all stores.

    • @NomadHorizon
      @NomadHorizon หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not exactly, I think the tier of the materials gathered will rely on not only the location in which they are mined, but also the equipment you use to mine them. Some miners may be better at gathering higher tier materials but at a much slower rate due to the delicacy of the extraction. Whereas another miner may be better at quantity but sacrifice quality.

    What kind of turrets will we be able to build to defend our player bases? Will it only be the turrets that we have at bunkers in game currently? Will we be able to install PDS turrets to take out bombs and missiles? Will we be able to build/install huge planetary defense cannons that are similar to the size 10 railgun on the Idris? Will we be able to build/install the small player usable turrets currently at bunkers and jumptown?
    With all these questions about defenses it brings up another question. How will IFF systems work for our bases? Will we be able to use the lists created in the social/org systems to inform a IFF system that will use the turrets to deter miscreants from approaching our bases?
    Will we be able to install signage at our bases? For instance, a sign that says, "If you break the freight elevator you will lose access to this base!" Can we then automate this system so that if someone does break the freight elevator then they will be added to a list that results in the IFF system flagging that player and deterring them from coming back to our base?
    Will we be able to hire NPC security forces to defend our base and equip them with heavy armor and F55 LMGs or build towers and assign NPCs to the watch tower with sniper rifles and appropriate armor? In Fallout 4, I gave my settlers legendary weapons, including miniguns, and legendary armor. The only things I didn't give my Fallout 4 settlers was explosives because they didn't understand the concepts of blast radius and friendly fire.

    The player base will need a quantum travel point that only that specific player can have, and if he or she wants, he or she can share it with other players. This is going to be needed because the question is going to be how I find my stuff if I fly away(Traditional Discover would also work as how it is applied when encountering caves and such for other players who do not own the base). Also, for Big ships like the 890, players should be able to set a quantum beacon to get back to their Big ship if they decide to use it as a home base. The cutlass side doors need to be fixed so you can use them inside and outside. and it would be best if you gave players the ability to use ground vehicles to open ship doors and drive in via Mobi Glass app. So the player connects to their ship and uses ALT N to open the ALT N to close the door to protect them from always having to get out of the vehicle and enter into the harsh environment.

There are legitimate reasons that You can not log in for an extended period of time, Like when I was in the military being Deployed for up to 15 months to Iraq and Afghanistan. The best solution imo is allowing someone else to pay your bills on your behalf. Would be good to see when they implement the permissions system to allow you to authorize someone else to do that, or authorize someone to dismantle your base and move your stuff to your permanent storage so you don't lose much and can rebuild when you come back if you don't have time to do that yourself. For large bases you will always be better off working with other people anyway. Perhaps selling your base (perhaps temporarily so you can buy it back later) could also be an option. Having dead bases hanging around for years scattered across the landscape (that are completely useless to other players) wouldn't be good for the game.

I would like it to be more specialized, like for hauler, fuel efficiency, and combat focus, fine-tuned axillary thruster for precision aiming vs increase axillary power thruster for better yaw roll or pitch but sacrifice precision movement. It would still be an upgrade but you get to choose what aspect of the ship you want to upgrade rather than just a simple 1 tier upgrade and everything just improved. It's like moding a stock car but spaceship. Hope you guy have an amazing holiday and a happy new years!

      That is what they said here and hinted at when they talked about how crafting affects ship speeds. How does the division of mining work with the arrastra? It is supposed to be a ship for space and ground mining, including the use of ROCs etc. If the pilot can only scan for asteroids or ship sized nodes, then you won't know where to land for the ROC nodes.

    • @Paisa231
      @Paisa231 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its mainly a space mining vessel, that is able to land some ROCs for ground mining. If it can ground mine itself, maybe. We see when the final flight model is in place, as this would determine what ships can hover or hover efficiently in different atmosphere to be a viable "ground" miner. But they said in these Q&A that they would give incentives to use ROCs over a Prospector. Like mining be beneath forrests, caves, narrow valleys etc
      Beside that the Arrastra is only mentioned to be a mining ship, so dont expect it to be able to detect every mineral/resource with its own sensors. Ship like the Terrapin is supposed to exell in such. So in this aspect, the Arrastra will likely be requiring assistance to uncover the most valuable or deepest mining sites f.ex
      If you take the Orion, it is mentioned to be a economy of scale device, to be efficient. Not to be the best, to drain efficiently the smaller mining nodes. I think Arrastra will fall between the Argo Mole and Orion. And with every ship, its requirements, fuel cost, capacity, size, and other upkeep costs will also determine what type of mining fields, and its value it need to mine to be efficient, cost effective and profitable.

    Any thoughts on being able to refine materials into higher grades? For example, I have a 100 SCU of grade C iron, and finding the right refinery would let me turn that into 75 SCU of grade B iron. I'm just thinking about all the lonely low-grade materials that won't be bought in the future if there is not something that they can be used for.

      During the crafting panels at Citizencon, it sounded like at lest some materials are going to have their quality be less important to the process than others (higher grade just meaning that less is needed). The example used was for higher grade coal requiring less of it, without affecting quality of the created item.

    Question I would have like to ask for base building is how does the vegetation affect from a base. When place a building and the trees disappear for the construction can we replace them or place trees and bushes where we want.
    Also when a building is deconstructed does the terrain return to normal and the tree return or is there now a flat non vegetated plot.
    I ask this because with the reveal of jungles I would like the hide my building under the canopy making it difficult to see and land ships near the base.
    It would also hurt the game later down the line if it obvious that bases have been placed all over the place because of the terrain after effects.

    Here is an idea for stopping "land grabbing"( where a large org uses a ton of beacons to buy up all the available space on a planet or moon before anyone else). Have an Office of Land Management and Claims, OLMC, in the UEE. There is a limit and cool down of the number of open claims a player can have "in processing". Once processed they can start building. The beacons would have a limit of how many registered beacons can be active ( holding a claim). This would be compounded with the idea of each claim being more expensive, preventing large orgs with hundreds of members from working together to exclude a planet from other players

    • @re4per9ine15
      @re4per9ine15 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure if I made it clear but the OLMC would be a place on planet you would also have to physically travel to in your ship. And the beacons would have a timeout so that they don't sit forever. Once the claim is processed and the land is yours then it would make sense to be taxed on it

  • @ivanshiek
    @ivanshiek หลายเดือนก่อน

    On the Land Claims:
    I think it would be easier for CIG to implement "No Build Zones" if they write in the creation code of the caves and NPC outposts, to set a certain area around the POI as a No Build Zone. This way, the random gen system "Genesis" will spit out new locations that will automatically have no build zones set for the right size of the POI and the devs just have to look for potential bugs.

      They talked about it some years ago, it is a thought. But at the time, that would require a terraforming mechanic. That is not at the table, to be done by players. But the cave system, is something that could be used. Along with the other issues of what gamers would use/abuse such a system.. So dont expect it, and it would anyway be a post 1.0 feature
