Wow! I was also stationed in 9th communications battalion for my first duty station! 2016-2017! I worked in the building (13051) you showcased at 16:20 as part of headquarters company. Good times, it was well past the “9th Crime” nickname. What an incredible blast from the past! Thank you for sharing this unrivaled footage.
Isn’t this the building that some rouge marine went in and shot the duty officers. I think sometime between 2010- 2017? I heard a story about it while I was in Pendleton.
I never heard of that. I started doing guard duty here when I checked into 9th Comm Bn in August 1990...I graduated my tech school the same day Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, so this was a weird time. I didn't go over to Desert Shield until later that year, but I did guard duty in September 1990 and October 1990. After 9th Comm Bn returned from Desert Storm, I went back on guard duty every few months. I even volunteered for it because it was 2 days on and 2 days off for 30 days away from your platoon. Gunny McCastle was always the guy in charge there. I actually think this was his duty station, he was there for at least the 3 years I was there. We would have some occasion excitement during front desk duty especially when closing the E-Club behind the building, but occasionally MP's would bring in violent drunks. Never any shootings though!
@@megiloth3634 yeah it’s definitely a cool video. I was thinking how some things never change, a-lot of the Marines in this video remind me of people I know. I remember making that drive to the armoury before with the staff and that motor pool on 13th street (I think) is where I worked for a bit. If that HQ building is in the 13th or 14th area someone told me a marine shot up duty back in the 2010’s and killed a staff.

@@luisbenavidez5122 Heck, this was 1992. Different times. I only remember a few of us even having a camcorder.
