As an Army paratrooper combat veteran (101st. Airborne Division 'Screaming Eagles' Vietnam/Cambodia) I want to say you Marines made me DAMN PROUD! Fallujah was your Iwo, your Hue and just as the Frozen Chosen in Korea (My uncle Mike was with them) you came through with flying colors. I'm sorry you guys had to go in a second time and lose people because a spineless, gutless, American politician was afraid of civilian casualties. I can relate since President Johnson betrayed us too as Dean Rusk stated during an interview that Johnson would pick the target, send it to the Swedish Embassy in Washington who would notify the NV two days before strikes went in. Why, to avoid "civilian casualties" yet allowed the MURDER of Americans. So God bless you all and God bless America.

No disrespect but I wouldn’t compare Fallujah to Iwo Jima or Okinawa. 100 Marines died and 500 were wounded with 2,000 Insurgents killed. In Iwo Jima 7,000 Marines were killed and 20,000 wounded along with 21,000 Japanese killed, only 216 Japanese soldiers survived. In Okinawa 12,520 US soldiers died (including a 3 star general) and 49,000 were wounded (that’s more than all the casualties suffered in Iraqi and Afghanistan put together... That happened in one battle that was 83 days long compared to 20 years of fighting terrorist) 110,000 Japanese were killed and 7,000 wounded. 150,000 Okinawan’s were killed. Fallujah was nothing compared to these battles, it would’ve been considered a little firefight and the Marines from WW2 would’ve taken the whole place in a day or two because they didn’t have all the politics.

The problem with counties like Iraq is, the everyday people welcome Terrorist militias with open arms. I mean I'm proud of all our US troop, but it's hard tohelp a country that loves the insurgents more than they love our troops..
