The Champion (Carman) - Freaky Friday 1988
February 12, 1988
The church I used to go to as a teenager, Independence Christian Center, put on a "Freaky Friday", where members of the church would put on wacky skits or whatever.
This was us doing our version of it. It was them acting out the lyrics/story of the song, so I am completely expecting a copyright hit for this, and Carman can get some posthumous royalties. 😃
I ran the lighting and it was full of the most special effects lighting that Radio Shack and Spencer's Gifts could buy. Unfortunately we didn't notice the homemade wooden box that had all the switches and dials was not plugged in, so we had to start over...so I cut that part out.

      This was all shot with a Hitachi 2400 VHS camcorder bought in Jan 1992. Decent enough quality. I knew people with camcorders from the 80's and their videos were all jumpy and staticky, with terrible sound. If you check out some of the live shows I shot in 1992, the sound quality is pretty darn good! These 9th Comm Bn VHS tapes have sitting in my basement for almost 30 years and they came out pretty good amazingly.

    49:33-50:20 - reminiscing through Mainside. Those were the days. Also at 49:46 , I remember gas prices went UP to $1.23/$1.29/$1.38 . What we wouldn't give for prices like that these days

    • @megiloth3634
      @megiloth3634 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And those were California prices, while the rest of the country was probably around $1 per gallon. Didn't notice it before but while driving by, I looked at what was playing at the base theater...Memoirs of an Invisible Man, what a terrible movie! Chevy Chase should have did Caddyshack and stopped at Fletch! Out of curiosity, I checked Google Maps to see if I could find, based on the drive on Vandergrift Rd going by the MCAS, where my friend was moving into. There's a quick clip of me panning around and I catch street signs Hamilton and Hawkins. This was in 1992, so I figure they may have changed the name or something, but no. I found it, no street view obviously. Still named Hamilton St. and Hawkins St. according to Google Maps. At the end of the video we look out the back window and it's just a field, now it's a Day Care Center. I zoom out Google Maps and notice that right down the road from Stuart Mesa Base Housing is...Edson Range, where us Hollywood Marines did our 2nd Phase training at Boot Camp! Fond memories of arms and legs going to sleep in the snap-in circles. Shooting Pizza Box for rifle qualification ( I wrecked it on 300 rapid fire ), and way out beyond the range, I found the Gas Chamber, which they now call the Confidence Chamber.

      Looking at Google Maps, Bldg 13109 is now part of Separations? I got out in July 1993 and Separations was waaaay down by Vandergrift and the road that leads to the golf course. Google Maps now shows it as what looks to be a square pavement with a few electrical poles or something. I guess they moved Separations up to civilization. Also that road just on the other side of where the promotion thing was, that used to run all the way to that street where the Motor Pool is, and that diagonal building used to be the 13 Area Guard Shack, where I did many many stints. I have another video from when I was on guard duty. I gotta know, do they still do the Blood Stripe, or is that completely off-limits? I would hope that is still unofficially happens. It was still a no-no in 1992, but nobody cared. It was one of those things you didn't do around the Company office, and waited until you were well out of sight of pu$$y little officers who would probably tattle like a little b1tch. I couldn't walk for a couple days.

      I never heard of that. I started doing guard duty here when I checked into 9th Comm Bn in August 1990...I graduated my tech school the same day Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, so this was a weird time. I didn't go over to Desert Shield until later that year, but I did guard duty in September 1990 and October 1990. After 9th Comm Bn returned from Desert Storm, I went back on guard duty every few months. I even volunteered for it because it was 2 days on and 2 days off for 30 days away from your platoon. Gunny McCastle was always the guy in charge there. I actually think this was his duty station, he was there for at least the 3 years I was there. We would have some occasion excitement during front desk duty especially when closing the E-Club behind the building, but occasionally MP's would bring in violent drunks. Never any shootings though!

The building is now (according to Google Maps) a post office next to the E-Club there. I appreciate the response. So the pentagram was burned into the floor? I wonder if it was a 3 fingered demon that did it, since we all know demons only have 3 fingers because everybody seems to only get scratched with 3 claws. As for the whole Satanism angle, I'm guessing it was some self-styled "Satanist" who thought sacrificing animals is what Satanists do. A bit too much of the 80's Satanic Panic creeping into their heads. Satanism is simply Humanism, they don't believe in or worship a Devil, like Christians do with God. It's all symbolic, with maybe a flair for the dramatic when donning robes and doing rituals like reading the Lord's Prayer backwards. Even if what the tenant did was actual Satanic worship involving blood rituals in the basement and sacrifices...not really afraid of anything happening to me.

    THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT RUINS IT FOR OTHER PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS..... NOT BEING ABLE TO FOLLOW SIMPLE RULES WHEN ITS WRITTEN DOWN IN PLAIN SIGHT STARING YOU RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE.... SMMFH 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ ( I GUESS COMMON SENSE JUST ISN'T SO COMMON ANYMORE IN SOME INDIVIDUALS )

      Stop clutching your pearls. We did not break in. We were not trespassing. We paid our $300 or whatever it costs for an overnight. Because I ducked under a sign, I'm the scourge of the paranormal community. Ok. I asked a couple friends about it, very recognizable names in the paranormal community, and they mentioned there is a sign but it's not like it's blocked off. If the basement is really off limits, I would suggest maybe putting a padlock on the door. And then if someone breaks it off to go into the basement, there's an issue. Ducking under string, I'm not really feeling bad.

    i think the reason you got nothing was because of the fact that you did not bring anything bad with you. i think some investigators have bad things attached to them due to some of the places they have gone to.also some people expect to find bad things so they do.

      Good point. When we go on our anniversary trips to these locations we are always respectful of the location and don't antagonize or provoke. Have only done that once and it was in addressing potential haunting reason...a p3d0ph1l3 that committed $u1c1d3 about 10 years ago. We take it pretty seriously and debunk as much as possible. Too much garbage out there (especially in the media) saying basically if you hear taps on the wall, it's a demon. A light flickers, it's a evil spirit. Everything evil, spooky, and dark. Nope. Never been scared...the closest was being startled. You can see that on one of my earlier videos from 2017 called Sallie House Nursery....yeah, that's startled us. That was not fake reactions. Genuine reaction based on what happened. We have a good time and just experience stuff if and when it happens. And always look forward to EVP's when we get back home from a sound recorder...and not that sketchy early version of sound recorders (DR60) certain ghost hunting bros like to use and make up words they hear on it.
