You and your son have just saved me a visit to the mechanic. Props to you for the amazing and well detailed instructions and major applauds to your son for showing how to flush the radiator. This channel deserves more views than it has. God bless you both
love this video brother had everything i needed to know i wish they were all this descriptive and edited. you and your son just helped me and my son make our project that much easier. thanks and much respect.
First of all, I love that you're teaching your son at a young age. I wish I'd had someone teach me, but most people don't think about teaching girls how to fix cars. lol However, my sister grew up with her dad who was always working on cars and she would watch and help and now she can fix a crap ton of things on cars and trucks. So now I gotta learn on my own because I'm all I got, and I'd love to be able to teach both my kids, boy and a girl. This seems simple enough. hahah We shall see.
Awesome video! Getting ready to replace the thermostat on my 2004 Frontier and needed a good well edited video. Maraming Salamat! Great that you had your kids involved.
I watched my dad doing the house wiring at age 7 and was helping him handling him the tools, cutting wire, etc. At age 14 I did the wiring myself (under my dad's supervision) in utility room. Learning a trade from family member is priceless! If radiator test kit is not available extend the overflow hose to 3 ft, hold it vertically above the radiator, and fill it with water (using small funnel). This will make about 15 PSI of hydrostatic pressure acting on a cooling system helping to detect leaks including bad radiator cap.
Awesome mkrp4, Thank you for that tip. I bet you were a cool kid back in the day. I know that you are a great mechanic by all your comments. I really appreciate it. Happy Holidays.
Awesome video... thanks man I have a question ... why you didn't replace the thermostat housing once you found it is corroded and holed and how last the sealant will stay?
Hi Jeff, He does like helping me and enjoy learning. But he really loves getting paid. I give him some $$ for his help. I don't force him to help. But if it involves $$ so he can buy toys he is there with me wrenching. LOL
I am going to be replacing all three hoses on my 1999 altima. I do have a silicon gasket which I will be using to also replace the thermostat. If I notice any corrosion, could I use the silicon to also seal up any holes on the part that goes inbetween the thermostat and hose?
Just finished replacing all the hoses and noticed my thermostat is not installed with the small hole at the very top. Instead of being at 12 o'clock, it is in the 9 o'clock position....is that okay?
I have a 99, and just below the distributor cap you should see the engine ground (Big black wire), just above that is a 10mm bolt that lets you bleed air from the head. Be sure to only bleed that when the engine is cold.
I gotta 99 gle and my temp is stuck on heat wont swich to a/c or blow any cold air .. also you can feel heat coming from my feet area as i drive a good distance .. could that be the thermostat or something else
Hey Im having a problem with my 2001 Altima, the radiator just got replaced and now the front passenger light and both signals will not come one. Were thinking something may have not been connected properly. The driver headlight, back lights (no signals) still work. We've tried to replace the fuse and they popped as soon as we turned the car on. We know it electrical but were trying to figure out if the replacement of the radiator caused this problem. Never had a electrical problem until the radiator got replace.
Hey there first cool on the work you do and I really enjoy watching all your videos. Quick question I have a 2000 Nissan Altima with p1126 throttle motor control relay do you know where the location of that is at ?
Do I have to drain the anti freeze if I'm just changing the thermostat. I think it's the thermostat that's wrong. My sister's 99 altima has plenty of coolant and is still over heating. So I'm thinking the thermostat is stuck and she needs a new one. Thanks for the video cause I know how easy it's going to be to replace and using the 2×4 and hammer trick was awesome.
Jeff Froment hi, you don’t have to drain it. Coolant will just come out from thermostat. So whatever coolant you have in the engine block will drain out from the thermostat housing.
Fix It Angel hi bud I have another question for you. I just changed the thermostat and once it got up to heat white smoke came out of the radiator. Checked the oil there's no coolant in the oil.
Yes, on the right side of the motor, just above the engine ground, there is a 10mm bolt, it will allow you to bleed the air out of the head, just make sure you do it when the engine is cold.
@@FixItAngel no sir i only change the sensor because coolant radiator temperature not normal thats why i change the sensor..i have no idea sir because im not mechanic and my car is second hand nissan xtrail 2004..
@@FixItAngel sir i dont know only check engine light in the dashboard...can i change the thermostat..before i go to scanner to remove this check engine
@@larrysalvador1993 you can try to replace the thermostat but it may not solve the problem. to know for sure the engine problem is to know what the check engine light code is. you can remove check engine light code by removing the negative battery terminal for a minute and then connect it back. start the car and the engine light should be off.
good teamwork!!
I know it takes way longer time to teach or let kid help the work.
such a good father and teacher ^^

Way to go Angel! It’s great to see you teaching your son to work on cars cuz you know they don’t have auto shop in high school anymore.
Your son has nice steady hands to be that young. Good job Dad.

Great video angel. Love seeing your kids help you with the car.
I love how you made this video. I laughed when you had the camera angle of you picking up the thermostat with the magnet lol
Gonna be doing this this weekend! Thanks for the visuals.

hi, is the coolant bubbling after 10 minutes?

Fix It Angel I can't even let it run for 10 minutes it starts smoking in about 5
Is there a bleeder valve on that model?

I think using jb weld epoxy on the hole in the thermostat housing would be better
Nathan Dodge I would try that next time.
