Thank you! Gunna replace my mounts as well, thank god my pops has all of these tools you’ve used and lucky enough for youtube channels like yours that explain for others. I’ve saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars in mechanic fees and overall cost being able to do my own repairs/upkeep now. My 04 Camry LE runs like a dream w/ 107k miles and hauls ass, I go about 90-104mph daily @ 3.2/3.7rpms I don’t punch it but climb to those speeds so I don’t destroy my car. But it’s all due to folks like yourself who make it extremely easy to keep up with my cars maintenance, so a big thanks sir.

Probably the best explaination of a motor mount ever. Believe it or not a simple motor mount causes so many unexplained noises and problems. Just repaired $400 worth of suspension parts that had nothing to do with the actual problems. Motormounts are cancerous appendages

Just when I thought I was ready to tackle the timing belt/water pump job, then I see this! Yikes! You are an artist....jacking the engine just right here and there, sometimes 2 places at once, to get the mounts unhooked and realigned just so! That was an artful and seemingly difficult job, high respects for you my friend.

I see it's been over 5 yrs but I just wanted to let you know you have the tools and cussed it just right when needed,,hahaha,,, I especially like the flex wrench for that back mount as I see that's the shit to get that top nut loose,, I've been looking at mine and got the parts and know they all gotta go for repair ,,replace,, and the trick is getting that back mount because the others will be a piece of cake,, anyhow enjoyed your wrenching video on this topic ,,thanks..👍

I was advised my 2004 v6 Camry needs new front mount. After watching this and reading the comments, I feel much more secure to ask questions. One thing I read in comments, use OEM which I hate to do but some parts you must, everyone agrees. Thank you SO MUCH for the excellent video! PS - being a girl, I didn't focus on auto shop in school - wish I had!

I am getting ready to do this on a 94 camry. Excellent video. In my garage I have the option to use a chain hoist, but the jack is always easy. Just have to use good placement. Keep on wrenching brother.
Oh, mechanics quoted 1400 for this job so I will do it for my friend (an elderly lady) parts are only 80. Gotta help people out sometimes. A pack of smokes and pizza is what I charge

Great video that helped removal and installation a breeze! Tip for the top nut. Remove brace from air intake manifold to block then position a socket wrench pointing toward driver's wheel. Use prybar or similar rested against wrench and trans case for leverage (under car)...apply steady pressure. Thanks for the upload and many others that are straight to the point. These videos are an invaluable service when paired with repair manual literature.

My rear mount is so low the engine is sitting on the engine mount rubber isolator, making vibrations through the body of the car from the front when accelerating. Thanks for the excellent close-up angles you did, they helped me see the difference in height between the old mount and the new one. Mine is definitely recessed.

Again, very good video. Unless all four mounts are broken, you may need to loosen all of the mounts in order to raise the engine enough to remove some of the mounts (two of my four were broken). Fortunately the 2010 Camry has mounts at each wheel and none behind the engine.

Great video brother. Those torque strut mounts don't last. OEM or aftermarket, doesn't matter. I just chalk them up as regular wear items. Cheap and easy to replace. I'd replace them every 30k or so.

He is only referring to the dogbone or strut mount. Its the one located on top of the engine. It only takes 5 mins to replace it and its a cheap part if bought aftermarket. I used OEM on all my other mounts but aftermarket on the dogbone.

I don't believe this XD I was checking my sound settings and my headset thinking i was muted. I was used to loud intros that are longer then movie trailers (ish lol) This truly was a straight simple DIY video I get tired of every 30 seconds of chatter and opinions on why they do this and not that and blah blah the others make it looks SO EASY i love how most are like so it comes out like this super easy. Your vids show you didn't do more prep work to make a perfect video XD all those bolts FOUGHT BACK!!! This look similar to the 2003 I have I will be using what I learn from you but I probably be grunting nonsense cuss words if I am not using my impact wrench XD Sub and liked!

For the rear engine mount, here are some tips:
    1. remove the dog leg mount to allow your engine its full range of motion when you lift it. Leave the front engine mount and transmission mounts installed.
    2. Cut a section of 2x6 wood (4 inch by 6 inch) and then drill a hole about 3/4 inch into the top face of the 2x6 wood. This 2x6 wood should not be under the pan but under the inboard CV joint that is part of the rear engine mount. I didn't like jacking up the oil pan as (a) it can damage the oil pan and (b) it was moving the engine backward (instead of upward) towards the firewall.
    3. loosen the 17mm nut on top of the rear mount.
    4. remove only two of the three 14mm nuts on the bottom.
    5. Jack this 2x6 wood so that the bolt on the CV joint support frame enters into the hole that you drilled in step2.
    6. remove the 17 mm nut on top
    7. slowly jack up the engine until the top rear mount clears the 17 mm nut of the mount.
    8. remove the last 14 mm nut on the bottom and remove the mount through the passenger side wheel well as in the video
    9. wiggle the new mount in place, install the three bottom 14 mm nuts with only two or three turns each.
    10. use a coat hanger looped in the bottom of the mount.
    11. from the top behind the intake manifold, you can pull the coat hanger up to ensure that the top bolt of the mount goes through the mount bracket.
    12. while pulling up the coat hanger to pull up the new mount so that the bolt on the mount is inserted into the mount bracket,
    13. turn the top nut three or four times to make sure it's aligned with the mount bracket.
    14. now lower the jack and the top nut is in while the three bottom 14mm nuts are all in place.
    15. tighten as in the video.

      @JohnEboyee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Great tip on drilling a hole for the CV bearing housing jack point. I'm also a little weary of jacking at the pan even tho the manual says it's okay. The only change I'd suggest, is instead of fiddling with a coat hanger, hold the mount up so the top stud is in the bracket bore then slowly lower the engine. Positioned under the vehicle you'll have easy access to coordinate both steps. Thanks dude!
Edit: forgot to mention that two screws can be used to back out the old stud if the new mount doesn't have one.

Fyi for future repairs usually a frozen top motor mount bolt (only with this tower style mount design) means it hasn't failed yet and is still isolating engine vibration (and most likely movement too) but if the top bolt is loose the mount is long due for replacement as the transmission of vibratory stress will loosen the top bolt over time.

I think the only thing you need to be careful of is when tightening the front mount, don’t use an impact as it could tear the rubber.
There is a place to be able to slide an adjustable wrench to hold the mount still while tightening the top 17mm bolt to prevent twisting of the rubber

Great video! This helped me so much in doing my motor mounts. Luckily I was able to do it without some of the fancy wrenches he has. On the passenger side motor mount, the top nut can be reached from between intake runners 2 and 3 using a 17mm deep socket connected to a 3" extension connected to a universal connected to a 6" extension n connected to whichever size ratchet you're using. And the trans mount can be down with an 18" ratcheting breaker bar and 14mm socket and deep socket for the bolts at an angle. Hope this helps anyone else attempting this job!

Would you happen to have a link to the bolt you used? Not sure whether it should be grade 8 or not…

I have a Nissan Murano 06 and my motor mounts are bad. I took it to a Auto shop because my car was making a noise so I told them to see what’s wrong. So after they found the problem in order to fix it they charge me $1,000.. In my mind I was like heck’s no so I left I just contact my personal mechanic. Btw I Enjoy your videos.

Hi. I am a fan of your TH-cam. I have 2000 Toyota Sienna as yours. I have replaced front engine mount and top of engin mount, mission mount, Sway bar, lower control arm, ball joint and check whell blance and wheel alignment.
But still make some rattling noise when drive bumpers.
One of big problem is shaking and rattling, feeling like up and down at speed 60mph - 75mph.
I really want to solve my car ploblem. So I need your advice.
    Thanks
