How the Yankees year after year continue to find not only great players but great human beings is nothing short of amazing. This coming from a beleaguered Texas Ranger fan.
He's a Hall of Famer to be sure, but I find it really odd that he'll forever be the first ever unanimous inductee. All the legends of baseball and no one even comes close, and the first guy is a closer of all things? A position that isn't all that venerated by either traditional baseball observers or analytics? Honestly, if I put together a Top 10 list of best baseball players of my lifetime, I'm not even sure if he makes the honorable mentions.
I agree. Why isn't Don Mattingly in? He played in more games and 3 to 4 times more innings then Rivera. How about putting in Lenny Harris or Manny Mota in for pinch hitting? Sounds ridiculous doesn't it?
@@bomb496 For first baseman Donnie falls short of the standards due to back injuries that plagued him in what should have been his prime. It's basically what you'd get if Pujols' post-2011 seasons happened at least half a decade sooner. Your comparison between relief pitchers and pinch hitters are off base however.
Don’t worry bout it hater. Why you criticize another mans head. You have a head fetish? Bet his old lady don’t worry bout that head win she rubbing on it.
What a joke. He failed as a starting pitcher. He never won a Cy young. He never won an era title. He (choked)lost a game 7 World Series game. He had a lifetime batting average of.000. A majority of his saves were against teams with a losing record. With that said seeing that he was a closer pitching in the 8th or 9th inning. He should have been voted in in the 8th or 9th round.
@@haroldfrets1268 Is there anything I said that wasn't true? Jeter will probably be a unanimous selection too. Only because were living in the snowflake generation.

One word, "God"
The greatest closer of all-time and a better human being!
The only difference is that he knew for certain he was going to the HoF lol
he didnt know he would be unanimous
For some reason I did not expect him to sound like that..
Amazing human and the 🐐
WOOOOO GREAT JOB MARIANO
M.R. best of the best
All I'm thinking of is Roger Clements, how he screwed up, or he too would be in Hall of Fame

Le regaló una pelota firmada a mi hijo Germán, la conservo pero su firma se borró. Gran stress causaba, que días de APAGUE Y VAMONOS.
The sandman we all knew he was going to the Hall of Fame but next year I really want to see is Derek Jeter going to be unanimous 🤔
Jermaine Mitchell he was so close!
@@joshweiner4645 they hated on Jeter....

You clearly didn’t see him pitch.
