Does Hunter X Hunter have too many characters? How would you rate the current arc?
I always love whenever someone talks about how Hunter x Hunter is story about everyone, not just Gon and Killua.
i disagree, i actually love the intricate relationships and drama inbetween the 50 something characters on the black whale
So from what I understood togashi has this big world with a huge cast of characters and he wants to explore it all to make the story good. I'm sorry ouji it doesn't ruin the story people are just impatient and can't remember alot if togashi can write all this, does not give us the right to say " it's too much stuff it's to slow " or " don't explore everything " togashi will not write less just cus it's too much for some so yea I'm on he's side so yea update ya memory card. With all that said great video, ouji, I hardly disagree.
Baically it's the lack of content on these characters that can ruin a manga.
Personally I’d disagree I really enjoy all the deeply woven storylines and characters but I think at the time of starting this arc Togashi had no idea it would go on for years and years to tell a story that’ll probably end up being around the length of let’s say an arc like the 4th great ninja war arc. If it were weekly this arc would’ve been over now and he can’t just suddenly end it either. That would be like if Kishimoto introduced Madara and then was like alright time to end this next week
Why would Killua and Gon even be on the black whale?
Im convinced if their wasn’t a hiatus this wouldn’t be an issue
I understand what the video is suggesting and thought of this for years but the issue doesn't lie with the Togashi....it lies with us the consumers. We have been raised on mediocre storytelling and have acquired a low capacity to take in proper information of such magnitude and quality that Togashi is dishing out. hunter x hunter isn't a linear story, this is a living peace of fiction which is why it feels so thrilling whenever a chapter drops the manga community drops what they're doing to home in on togashi.
The fact that Togashi can make me care about a bunch of nameless soldiers serving one of the princes who happen to be on a completely separate floor as they talk about their relationship to the prince is why I’m still invested in this arc. It’s a lot to keep track of but even if I can’t follow everything, I like being surprised by what happens. That being said, at this specific point in the manga, I think I’m good with how much setting up we’re doing for this Succession War and that we are so close to seeing how it all just crumbles. I hope we get some resolutions to things like the Silent Majority killings and the identity of the nen user, same goes with the Mafia families and them trying to use Hisoka and the Troop. I’m also looking forward to when we get to the Dark Continent as we have the expedition team including the Zodiacs with Leorio and Kurapika which I am interested in cause we haven’t really followed a plot line carried by these two specifically.
I think Togashi doesn't want to finish HxH. He wants to write HxH. Finishing it would prevent him from doing so.

You can definitely feel however you want but, visiting r/hunterxhunter when the phantom troupe backstory was being dropped was exactly what you described.
You extremely sound impatient. I am very happy with the pacing. And like i always say, its his story, he can do what he wants. You cant talk for all readers too
i think the point of having so many characters is so that the plot would be interesting and many of them are gonna die on the ship or on the dark continent so it's all good
Togashi has always broken away from traditional shounen norms, thats what makes it bang for me

It's a good video. I understand your points, I just think it doesn't work, though. You also have to take into account that we're not even halfway through the arc yet, so of course we haven't been getting that much content of every character. Furthermore, every character that he's put focused on has been important.
