    I just bought a 2015 si and I’m currently loving it. From a drivers perspective it’s not about chasing numbers, it’s about how much fun the ride is. And so far the ride has been awesome!!

      I've always loved it. Had a similar layout in my 8th gen Si. I so loved the 2.0 in that car, but I think 9th gen's 2.4 is just as good in its own way due to the extra torque it now produces. I'm int he market for a used 2015 Si right now and can't wait to get one, but man do they hold their value. Clean, low mileage 2015's are still going for $17k and up...and they don't stay on the market very long.

    Manual transmissions are for fun and control, are simpler and more reliable than autos. Most people look buy a sporty car for those qualities, not for economy or shift speed.

    It's their sport compact it would be ridiculous to outfit with an automatic transmission! The car is about fun and at the same time it still has great economy.

    Once again Alex is totally right on the money! I've owned 31 personal cars (including a 2014 ILX 2.4 6-Spd Man. and Used 2015 Civic EX-L that I just got for my daughter this past Monday). Plus, I've rented several cars while on business or even just for a week of testing fun. Alex really catches every lil' detail that I've noticed myself in every review he's done. I'm just continually impressed...thanks for the great great reviews, Alex! (PS I also agree that the new 2016 ILX is a great great value...talk about a fun car that 8-Spd Double Clutch.

    Daniel, the score changed from the EX in my mind because the competitive set is much smaller with the Si. There is no performance version of the Sentra which has an enormous and very well shaped trunk, similarly no performance version of the Focus sedan, Corolla, Elantra, Forte sedan, etc so that really limits the comparisons.

    The turbo just causes more issues in the other cars. In my opinion the natural aspirated engine cost less if it needs maintenance. This is a + for honda. They had issues with oil dilution in the their 2.0L turbo engines in the next gen civics.

      Also why has the trunk score changes from 7/10 from the base civic to 9/10 in Si? They the same size trunk and have the same function (No handle, two levers to fold the seats, tire and jack below the trunk?)

    You can't go wrong with these if you want economic fun. Honda really did a great job building these. But now, everyone wants larger vehicles because they either want space for road trips or want them "just because." You don't have to mod these to have fun. You just need good tires.

  • @jfazzuoli3813

    I don't want to nit pick but there is a "handle" on the inside top of the trunk (it is molded into the trunk liner). The i-VTEC light in the upper left hand side of the dash is not a shift light but tells when the cams are shifting lobes ( or when "VTEC is kicking in yo"). Great review as always.

    Alex i normally agree with you but one shopping for a civic si cannot afford a ilx. Honestly if i could afford an ilx i wouldnt take it due to the lack of manual and in general am not a fan of acura. At that price point of the ilx you could get a much nicer sports car. i know it wont be as luxurous well mayebe not as acuras terrible leather, but the civic si shopper generally is after an engaging and sporty car. So there extra money is likely to go after hp not terrible leather. thats my opinion at least

    This review sounded like you applied and Penske said "not at this time" yet your day came when a Honda came around to low key slip a few jabs and hooks in comparing one of the best formula for engines and k series and compare viable and still the best HP per cylinder engine combo and best engine swap right there with LS swapping everything in the performance world while throwing jabs putting it equal with a stock family sedan and saying its equivalent to a 1998 Galant lol then compare the performance to focus rs or st and its NA.

    When you get a hands on new 2016 civic touring, can you please compare handling, ride quality, acceleration and materials used vs ILX. That new 2016 civic looks pretty attractive.
    While I like new civic it seems that material used inside are not as premium as in ILX.
    Road noise seems pretty high too. No LED interior lighting either (maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it looked like in one of reviews.)

      as stated above, the Si isn't being released for some time later in 2016. The even faster Type R is coming in 2017, so his review isn't that bad as far as timing. The 2015 Si dropped last Spring.

      the next gen SI will be 29-30k now. the 9th gen civic si is 21k brand new if you negotiate.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it's the last one you can get with an N/A version of the K series... so there is that. :) The new factory turbocharged version of the K series is very different, especially with no traditional VTEC crossover. The high-cam VTEC K24 plus a supercharger is still (in my book) a lot more exciting than the factory turbo K20 (which is quite a Lancer Evo-ish engine, which is fine but it doesn't have any VTEC character :)). * The FK2 Civic Type R factory turbo does have VTEC as such, but it works more like the economy VTEC on Accords.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      CosmicBlu EvoX "the next gen SI will be 29-30k now." I don't think it will be that much if it only comes in at 230bhp, IMO. If it's more like 260-270bhp and has some more Type R features (like the dual axis struts and Recaro-like seats) then I could see it being that much, but I wouldn't figure the Type R would be more than about $35k?

  • @ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow

    I took the 2.4 ILX for a test drive and was REALLY disappointed. It has the numbest steering I've ever experienced... no feel at all. The car was not that quick or eager to accelerate either. And although shifts down 1 gear were fast, shifts going down 2 gears literally took 5 seconds or more - the longest delay I've ever experienced in ANY automatic -- it was terrible. Finally, the car just didn't feel light and/or agile at all, although that could be partially due to the numb steering killing part of the fun.

      +Alex on Autos : Some eps systems are better than others, but yeah, most are pretty bad. Acura eps is getting worse. For example, I took a last gen TL for a drive that had eps and it was actually pretty communicative. I own a 2015 mazda3 which has pretty numb steering. But the ILX is the worse, way worse. I was really disappointed, especially considering the older TL eps had pretty good feedback.
      Any way, great review. I like the comparisons at the end.

      +Show Me What I Need To Know I think steering issue is that it comes with LKAS, system that steers for you on well marked road and it also shakes the wheel a little bit if you cross marks way too often. I think steering could have been better.
      I don't know what else would you expect from 2.4 none turbo engine. I think it's the fastest 4 banger car without turbo charger available right now. I have to disagree on that one.
      Unless you are taking your ILX for huge beating I don't know why would you need an instant 2 gears shifted down. I have not noticed any issue with transmission, I don't believe it's true. Only thing is it sometimes gets little jerky in slow moving traffic.

    • @kc5077

      @AAutoBuyersGuide  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +XxLowellxX I like the interior design of teh Mazda3 a little more but the luxury features of the ILX more. The ILX's transmission is superior and it has more power. The ILX handles better but the feel is better in the Mazda. It's kind of split but I think I'd get the Acura.

    • @kc5077
      @kc5077 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +XxLowellxX I understand, I've stayed away from American brands until my current car. I had a Mazda Protoge5 for 10 years, it was bullet proof, I only replaced wear and tear items tires, belt @10yrs, brakes @12(the car's age). Just remember to get the car that you love the most, you'll keep it longer and that will save money. Buy what you don't like and you'll be trading it in after a few years.

    Nice video but, like you said the 2016 will be out in about 2-3 weeks (sometime in November) on dealer lots. So why do a review on a car that will be on dealer lots for maybe 2 more months?
    I mean if your in the market for a car now, the chances are great that the person has already heard about the 2016 and they probably have already seen videos on the 2016. If I were them I'd be waiting on the 2016's since the prices are very similar to last year and you get much more standard equipment on the 2016's.

    • @kc5077
      @kc5077 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here's a few good reasons for reviewing out going cars, the current model gives you a fresh opinion of the changes to newer models. Some deal hunters can get better discounts. The next Civic Si won't be out at launch and will probably have a non-Vtech turbo, so this is the last V-tech Si.
