    This checks all the boxes, excellent display, great build and design, good audio, good battery life and great pen support. Throw in an improved type cover and we have a winner. Negatives are, price and lack of USB C port. Microsoft got a lot of it right. What do you think, let me know?

    Downsides are definitely 100% correct as well as not a comfortable lap device but it has so many other pros that I'm finally upgrading my 5 year old Surface 64GB RT lol.

    Watching this on my Surface Pro 2017. It's really great. However, there is pretty much 0 difference between the signature Alcantara type cover and the regular one.

    • @ironman34561
      @ironman34561 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The guy at best buy told me the signature one is immune to water apparently o.O. He said water bubbles on the keyboard but im not sure lool

    • @lethan1231
      @lethan1231 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ironman34561 I can confirm that the texture of the regular one is not immune to water, as cleaning it every so often with a damp towel makes the texture skin come loose and peel off. They might have fixed this with the Alcantara one.

    Best Buy has this 2017 model i5 with 8gb of ram! with that fancy keyboard on sale now for 799. So you get 4 more gb of ram and free keyboard for that price. I’ll be purchasing that deal from Best Buy within next few days.

      Just an update I purchased the bundle on jul. 13th. Like I've mentioned before. Straight up loving the device. It has put my iPad pro 9.7 with pen on back burner. Purchased 7th gen. i5 version with 8gb of ram and 128gb storage with free updated 2017 alcantra keyboard for only 799...799 is not cheap but I saved almost 400 dollars on this deal. Already purchased and installed 128 GB samsung high class microhd card, temp. Glass screen protector, and urban armor gear case. Everything is working great..highly recommend this model of pro that i have!

    I want a 2in1 but i use my device with keyboard on my lap often, even in the workplace. I found the Surface Book top heavy making it unbalanced on the lap. The Surface Pro obviously isn't designed to be used on lap with kb. BUT I like the screen dimensions and the proper kb layout of Surface devices. Surface laptop doesn't fold so not an option. Also the surface laptop kb would become marked and dirty after a while. These devices are not cheap. If the SB just folded over with the works in base like Lenovo Yoga then it wouldn't be top heavy. If thinkpad yoga 370 had a 3:2 screen dimension I'd be hysterically happy. Do you have a recommendation please? I've done a fair bit of research but not found anything that matches my ideal. Do I have to compromise? (HP products don't have standard uk keyboard layout and have an annoying row down the right side not to mention a shrunk enter key). Great reviews btw. I've watched several you have done.

    I love my Surface Pro 4 (i7, 8gb RAM and 256gb memory) but there is no way I would pay full price for it, even including the discount they have at the moment. Ridiculously overpriced. I got mine second hand for £660 and it included a blue type cover and surface pen. Microsoft need to seriously stop blowing smoke and charging stupid Apple prices.

    How do you stack it against the Yoga 720? I purchased that laptop a couple of weeks back for 699 from BestBuy and it does everything the Spectre x360 can, on paper they have the same power and its way powerful than the surface pro (SSD, USB c charging, higher CPU and RAM)

    Hey thanks for this! How's the lapability? I know it is not the ideal situation, but sometimes I do use the MacBook Pro on my lap so wondering how the surface pro feels? I am on the market for a light, easy to travel device I can take to meetings and business trips. I do take plenty of notes so touch screen mandatory. Thinking either surface book 2 or this guy, but the book sounds more like a heavy laptop and for that I already have the MacBook ;)
    Let me know about lapability please! Thanks

    • @andrewmarcdavid
      @andrewmarcdavid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not ideal in the lap as opposed to a traditional laptop. That being said, I do use mine in lap and I am able to use it. Hope this helps.

    • @santiusquin
      @santiusquin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Marc David thank you sir! Keeping in mind I also have a MacBook Pro what surface do you recommend for me? Mostly for trips and meetings.

    • @andrewmarcdavid
      @andrewmarcdavid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Surface Pro is more portable than the Surface Book as it is lighter. That being said, I really like the Surface Book, both the 13 and 15-in versions. Of course if budget is a concern, the Surface Pro is a somewhat more affordable option depending on which model you choose of course. It really comes down to personal preference. I personally like the Surface Book 2 15-in. But that is an expensive option for sure and it is heavier as well than the Surface Pro.

    • @santiusquin
      @santiusquin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Marc David well in both scenarios I would buy i5 and 8RAM - It just makes sense to me so money wise they are no too apart.
      15 inches book 2 eems to big for me. I already have a MacBook so maybe the surface pro fits me better since I want portability and lightness? Book 2 looks amazing but maybe it is simply too much of a computer
      I really don't know what to do :)

    • @andrewmarcdavid
      @andrewmarcdavid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the Surface Pro is your best bet as it offers you nice blend of portability and power. But keep in mind, the Surface Pro is a tablet first and laptop second and the Surface Book is a laptop first and Tablet Second. So, if you think you will be using it in tablet mode more than laptop then get the Surface Pro. If you will use in your lap more and a laptop then get the Surface Book.

    So expensive! I'm not familiar with longevity for MS Surface Pro, so would it last three years or so? That would be the only way I could justify spending that amount of money, sale or no sale. If Microsoft would keep current with the software updates, and the hardware would last with fairly constant use, I could give it serious consideration. Like you though, I would be spending more out of the gate by purchasing 8gb Ram with the higher SSD on board. When all would be then said and done, I would likely be looking at close to two grand by the time I included taxes and opted to get the top end keyboard and also purchase the pen. Seriously, do you have any idea about overall expectations as to how long this expensive "toy" might last?

      My surface pro 4 didn't last a year.. it was perhaps the worst electronic device I've ever owned, and there is a lot of negative discussion online surrounding it. However, I'm giving microsoft a second chance, as I've just bought the surface book 2, because my god they're beautiful! I'm *hoping* that MS has learnt enough to address all previous issues in their surface line up. But be warned: the alcantara is nightmare to keep clean, hence I've gone with the surface book instead of surface laptop. With the surface pro you can simply buy a new type cover, but you can't with the surface laptop

      If you are going to be using it 90% of the time as a laptop, go with yoga 920. It's cheaper and will get the job done. If you will be using it mainly for tablet notetaking ant reading, like 60-70% of the time and you can afford it, the Surface is better. The yoga 920 has some really sharp edges.

    B&H has the 15/8/256 for $1099. They are an authorized Microsoft reseller. I wanted to buy a Surface Pro, but the lack of USB-C was a deal breaker. I'll wait for the next version. My wife has a Lenovo 24" monitor (P24h) with USB-C input and 4 USB3 ports hooked to a 2017 13" MBP. Works very well and the monitor can charge a device with 65W. BYW, great monitor for $300 list. Can usually get it on sale for $240. So you get a 24" monitor with 4-port USB hub for less than $300.

      Chris Yang You are right, but huge manufacurers including Microsoft can get such info much earlier than official announcement. So they should knew about the next CPU refresh before the release of the new Surface Pro.
      Besides processor issue, lack of USB c-type is yet another fail, anyway.

    • @Legendarior
      @Legendarior 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The processors they are using with the surface pro are the ones with Iris Plus graphics, those are still not yet released. The discount speaks clearly that the new surface pro is around the corner, either coming this June to compete with the Apple release, or coming October/November 2018. Also most likely the Surface Studio 2 will come too, with the new Intel Kaby-lake G series. I don't really think they will install the Kaby-lake G series in the surface pro, since even the low-end packages is a 65W TDP, we will see.
