      Thank you. I do love my SP. it has worked out very well for me. I paid for mine with my own money and continue to use it daily for work. Honesty is the only way I know.

    👍Thank you for sharing your personal “real world” view. 💞 I have the Surface Pro 4 (bought in 2016) and I agree with everything you said. I have used Apple products & Microsoft as well as HP. I have been very happy with the SP. Since my SP is 2 years old, I’m thinking about getting a new one. I have decided that I will upgrade my laptop about every 2 years since I depend on it so heavily for work & my livelihood depends on it.

      I love mine. Still is a joy to use everyday. I do wish it supported LTE as im on the road daily with mine but i just use my hotspot on my phone.

      + Everyday CJ - 👍 I just use the hot spot on my cell phone as well. I had to change my mindset and budget for getting a new computing device every 2-3 years & now it’s easy. I’m getting a new one tomorrow because they are on sale at Best Buy otherwise I may have tried to wait a few more months. It just seems like they make these computing devices (laptops, tablet PCs & cell phones) to last only 2-3 years (and that seems like a stretch). Unlike years ago...I once had a Mac, Lenovo & a Toshiba that lasted and worked perfectly for about 7 years (except for the batteries)...sadly none of these newer laptops or tablet PCs lasts that long any more.

      Yep i agree as far as smaller devices go. I have a 4 yr old desktop that is still amazing but i upgraded the hard drive to an SSD. The laptops definitely are only good for heavy usage for about 3 years. If i could, i'd buy a new one every 2 years as well. Maybe by the time the next surface pro comes out, i will have saved up enough for it. I definitely want LTE in my next laptop though.

  • @evac6011
    @evac6011 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    right now i’m deciding between getting the surface laptop with the same specs or spending more money on the pro. as a college student i’m liking what the pro can do a little bit more than the laptop, but do you think the 8gb i5 will last me four years and beyond??

    • @CJRichvideo
      @CJRichvideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think it has the potential to last for 4 years. i think the surface pro and surface laptop are pretty much the same internally just structurally different. So performance will be similar. The only drawback to both is that they are impossible to open up and work on if something breaks internally. As long as the battery holds up, i think it'll last. I plan on using mine for a good 3 years until i entertain upgrading. I'm almost at one year already. I'd still buy this again as opposed to buying a macbook right now.

    Great review! I've got the same feeling like you do, after owning a Surface Pro 4 for about 1,5 to 2 years... Still love it! Started with a crappy pro 3 typecover and now have an Alcantara Signature type cover. Fantastic device, form factor and battery life! Did you know the battery lasts much longer in battery saving mode? I mean, a really big difference... I get a whole day of working on a single charge with my pro 4! (i5)

    • @CJRichvideo
      @CJRichvideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes i too have been playing around using the battery saving mode and the difference is definitely big savings with longer battery life.

      I dont draw with it but i use it when jotting down notes when talking with clients. Its always worked great for me for that purpose. I'd imagine drawing will work great but my artistic skills lack in that department.

    Still doubts about this form factor. The competition, that fruit company, bests it in several ways. MS should have put the usb-c lightning port on it to accelerate file transfers.

    I'm stuck between getting the SP and the Surface Book 2, 13 inch 8g and 256gb sad. I like the portability of the SP, but I can also travel with the Surface Book. Is the USB-C a big deal.

    • @CJRichvideo
      @CJRichvideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont think usb c is ahuge deal. Do you have any devices that are even usb c? I also want the surface book 2 but id want one with more power but i cant afford it.

    • @stephenpowstinger733
      @stephenpowstinger733 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a new SP and I slowly realized it uses the old USB 3.0 port - whereas I don't see why they didn't put the hi-speed usb-c on it. The Surface line and nomenclature is a little confusing if youask me.

    I plan on getting the surface for uni. do you think it can replace pen and paper when it comes to taking note? this is an expensive laptop, I need some subjective opinions

    • @SohaHamid
      @SohaHamid 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it's good for taking notes for math class because it's easier to write out the equations rather than typing them out. one note is great for organizing your notes and you can use it to replace your notebook.

      The surface pro has completely replaced pen and paper for my degree.
      The only thing to consider, is some therapy classes don't let you have a computer out because of confidentiality

      Microsoft aren't going to release new surface this year, should I wait for another year or should I get the new XPS 13,15. I am heading to uni this sept and its tough to choose a laptop

    • @joshuarice3144
      @joshuarice3144 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want a 2-in-1... I would recommend the surface pro. If you don't need to be able to comfortably take notes with a stylus than buy a laptop. Both the dell xps and the hp spectre are excellent.

    • @Crux161

      chinadian it can replace paper for *you* - professors may want something a bit more physical. Be prepared but for note taking you literally have infinite paper.

      i like my surface mouse. Mainly because it is flat when turned off and is easy to transport. If you dont need to travel much, any usb or bluetooth mouse will do fine.

      Too bad they do not sell it officially in my country, so I will try to ask my relative to bring me one from the US. Was thinking about buying this one for quite a long time, so if it plays out that would be great. Your review was very helpfull, I think 7 months is pretty solid ammount of time to judge how the product works and feels, unlike all the hyped-up reviews coming out the day product is released.

      its a great size. Basically the same as the surface pro that i have. Although i do like the 15" as well. The 13" is just easier to travel with.

    Not wanting to support this device Your points on the price and so on are spot on However surely you knew its limitations when you got it...you know price, not being able to get into the guts, no typecover etc. These issues are key and why exactly I won't be buying one. But this review is about your experience, not with reasons NOT to buy it in the first place. Don't take this wrong. Good review and helpful to heaps of people for sure Peace brother

      Thank you for your thoughts on the video. No offense taken at all. I didnt want to like this computer when it came out but i gave it a shot and it actually has been a great little computer. I'd like to get my hands on a surface book 2 to see what thats like.

    I really hate I wish I kept my hp instead it's so laggy and can't handle much tabs and mine had so many problems how it couldn't turn on multiple times and it froze and I had to wait for the battery to die out and how much it costs is just not worth it and 13h battery life is complete lie

    Should I buy it now or wait for the newer one ?! ... pro 2017 came 8 monthes ago . But who knows when will 2018 version will come out !! Other problem is mircosoft made video about pro 2017 with LTE so is that the newer vrision or what ?! really don't know what to do !!

    • @CJRichvideo
      @CJRichvideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on how bad you want/need a computer right now. I bought this model partly based off microsoft claiming support for LTE (which i have yet to see) But who knows when/if they will release a 2018 model. All in all, i really like my SP and its definitely worth buying if you're in the market for something like it.
