The fact that Fortnite will be 7 years old in a few months makes makes me feel so old it doesn’t feel like a game that’s been out for the better part of a decade
I feel like the reason old games dont feel old is due to 2020. After 2020 this whole 4 years have just felt like a year. Like fortnite is almost 7 years old.
Yeah, my perception of time has really sped up after COVID. It feels weird.
Knowing that FNAF, Mario Kart 8, and P.T. are ten years old is crazy to think about, knowing just how far we've come in gaming history.
For better or for worse.
The only thing keeping me on a console is disks. Without disks im getting me a pc and becoming the greatest pirate
Buy the good games. Support indie creators. Pirate anything by Ubisoft or Activision.
Like I kind of love Call of Duty campaigns since I'm older and don't have as much time to game. They are short and sweet action packed romps. Like Cold War had a GREAT singleplayer campaign but the multiplayer was trash. I have no problems pirating Call of Duty. I do have problems pirating smaller indie games though.
I used to buy CoD because it was how I kept in contact with friends after a move but that 70+ I would have spent on CoD allowed me to buy like 5 indie games.
for the first time in gaming history almost nothing changed in the last 10 years even things like cloud gaming and microtransactions were a thing in 2014. the only changes are cultural like minor changes in art style and game design and other minor trends . going from 2004 to 2014 was a huge change and 1994 to 2004 was mind blowing
After some binging after this video I have watched all your videos at least once love you kiro
0:19 Wow now I feel super duper old. I was 26 with Mario Kart 8 came out. I started with the original Super Mario Kart as I was 4 years old when that game came out.
The biggest difference for me is that back in the 90s when I was born, when you bought a game, you had the complete experience: you didn’t have worry about grinding and missing the deadline for certain items and thus, had more time for your social life; unlike now where you don’t have time for anything else outside of gaming because otherwise you’ll miss your chance to complete a BP or limited time event.
Nice video!
Now with the high rise of digital downloads, I see consoles allowing refunds of digital games. When Cyberpunk 2077 first released with tones of glitches and being unplayable, people who bought the physical copy returned the game and got a refund. Sony took down Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store and because of that they allowed people who bought the digital version to be able to get a refund on the game.
Steam has been allowing that for a while, though it seems some games intentionally try to make you play past the 2 hour mark so you can't return them but in releases like The Day Before Steam allowed everyone a refund.
@@NealMohansMicroPenis Yes that true, though its nice to see consoles finally allowing digital games returns and make players get refunds.
I don't really like the fact that games live off the fomo trend a game should live off how fun it is in my opinion
Crazy that how gaming has changed in 10 yrs since then. The gaming community has gotten stronger every year.
I still like regular disc cause if you get cloud gaming and something happens to service or the internet well there goes your progress in yourngame
Man 2014 was a great year for gaming Mario kart 8 and fnaf are still some of my favorite games and I can’t believe they came out in the same year
I bet in the year 2030 almost everything will be in Fortnite
No
Nooooo!!!! I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS!
I've accepted it at this point. It would be kinda funny to be able to hit the griddy as Waluigi tho
@@nonexistor Nintendo doesn’t allow characters from there games to join Fortnite but the closest thing would be 3rd party characters like sonic
@@zachpro5475 Thats true. Epic games wanted Samus in Fortnite and they even asked Nintendo. Nintendo said Samus can only appear on Nintendo consoles. Epic Games didn't go with it as they wanted Samus to be on all consoles.
Also first party IP are on Fornite. Microsoft's Master Chief from Halo, Sony's Kratos from God of War & Aloy from Horizon.
Digital era is Just a was for companies to Stop used games. They even try to make them seem bigger and Count microtransactions and dlcs to Sales of the games. Physical games still oversell digital. Happy News!!!
i swear if covid never happened i would
lose a lot of my life
and
feel like i was 14:
Another way you could look at how gaming has changed is going year by year, comparing most popular releases, tho I am not sure if 10 year is long enough time span of that.
5:29 I actually was not aware of those features so that's really cool to know. That is awesome that there's editors within the game that allow you to blur out the things that would prevent you from monetizing the video or replace copyrighted music.
I probably just wasn't aware of that because I don't play any of the new PlayStation or Xbox consoles. I find that most the games that are on PlayStation or Xbox or already available on PC and to be honest most the time I actually play games on my switch anyways because I only have as much time to stay home and play a console, but the thing is Nintendo terrible when it comes to making content out of their games. I mean there was already that Nintendo creators program back during the Wii U era, but on top of that there is no built-in feature to just live stream your games unlike what the PS4 already had before the switch even came out. You have to get an external device to live stream switch games or even record footage. I'm hoping on the next Nintendo console they get their act together and realize how much easy advertising they'll get if they have built-in live streaming for whatever games you play.
Also one thing that annoys me that I've noticed I'm pretty sure has affected my channel and well my channel is completely different than it was back then so it's not really an issue but my channel used to be a gaming channel where I uploaded walkthroughs and playthroughs of games and sometimes let's play, but whenever I recorded footage on day one of the game coming out nobody would actually see the video and I find out that it's because bigger names were able to record footage of the game before it even came out. When I first started my TH-cam channel in 2008 it was nothing like that. I would have the footage recorded and uploaded on day one and people would watch it because I would actually be one of the first people who have uploaded footage but because many years later now game publishers just send their games to people who already have a huge audience to begin with to allow them to upload footage weeks before the game even comes out it's just doesn't work that way anymore. When I upload footage on day one it's too late. It's a good thing I found a different niche that is helping my channel now although I would love to do gaming footage again at some point
0:26 I feel like I missed something, what else came out with the booster course in February?
Can you list Jazz Jackrabbit series if you're listing MS-DOS games?
I remember 2014 for Dragon Age Inquisition and Shadow of Mordor. They were the last Xbox games I ever bought because I never bothered with the X bone or Series X. Their online only debacle from E3 2013 just put me off them entirely, and nowadays everything is digital and it's even worse. Thankfully, the Switch came along and saved gaming.
All i remember of 2014 was Trap Team and Shovel Knight.
Dude what were the chances of you showing Blue Dragon
That game is my all-time favorite game
Every game that comes out has battlepasses and seasons. Fortnite has done so much damage to gaming
Not gonno lie its not bad but I wish it had been better espically in term of the people who work in the video game industry .
I seriously can't understand people who buy digital games (on consoles). They stay at 79€ (or another insane price) for almost the entire lifetime, while I can get a physical copy for 50€ after a few weeks after the release. Also I can sell my physical disks when I'm done.
I hate the digital trend and im lowkey confused why people like it ?? I wanna own the games i buy forever, not tied to internet and not connected to an online account you could potentially just lose for whatever reason ? Plus yeah i like looking at the games i own physically
I'm just hoping that cloud gaming and the "all-digital" future would be a fad and not become the standard.
Biggest "change" and not for the better is absolutely everything nowadays having microtransactions, battepasses, content locked behind paywall etc. Some of those things were just pioneered and first tested around 2014 but now they are mainstream. Add lootboxes to that aswell. Also skill based matchmaking in every multiplayer. Gameplay wise not that much has taken a big leap forward, visually everything is prettier but thats an obvious one
Wonder what gaming will look like in 10 years if it still exists....
There is no way FNAF came out 10 years ago. I was literally in middle school when it came out and NOW IM IN COLLEGE
It came out in 2014.
*reads title*
*clicks on video*
*somehow can't answer layup intro question*
Have sonic at least appear once✅
Is Destiny still a thing?
why is splatoon 2 seven
I'd rather pay 50 dollars for a DSlite which i already did.
Why does he wear gloves all the time? I kinda feel like the only reason is to hide skin color, but we can tell roughly what he looks like from his voice.
Erm
@@DjCrispyFingersbruh moment
To be quite honest, things don't seem very different from 10 years ago, games like Wolfenstein, GTA V, Far Cry 4. They don't seem that different from today.
2024 other than Like a Dragon, Persona and Final Fantasy has been completely mid
Persona 3 reload sucks
3:37 - 4:20 - Did you REALLY have to put in these stupid blank screens at all here? You really could've done without any of that.
DIGITAL ONLY CONSOLES?! THAT'S GROSS!!!
