I would say maybe 5% of coins are actually trying to be legit securities and/or monetary instruments. As for PoW being a vehicle for doing practical work, well, I am still waiting for that to materialize. Still just burning a bunch of power crunching numbers just for the sake of crunching numbers.
It totally is. Accountant here btw and also an older gamer (played in arcades and then got an Atari just to date myself dammit). Not only is it that, it's basically saying, "Hey! Give me your REAL money for this FAKE thing that may or may not increase in value." Same thing goes for crypto. For anyone that might want to know, Escape from Tarkov has had an illicit community of modders for years, and one such team is called Single Player Tarkov. It gives you the most prominent feature of the EFT Unheard of edition, namely a Single Player PVE version of Tarkov. It does not have Co-op PVE, and it has stated it doesn't have plans to add that. Still, if you play Tarkov and 1) want to play pve and 2) don't want to play pve with your loot goblin comrades, then check out Single Player Tarkov. Edit: oh yeah the best part, there are no cheaters in Single Player Tarkov.

ive 90% played spt compared to Live version and its so much fun, leviticus puts it best as someone with a 9 to 5 shift and a life to do with chores its a nice steady pace blue collar casual tarkov where im not pressured to catch up or grind to get as good to people who havent gone outside sotospeak since day 1 of the wipe

Dude I opened a ticket in Skull and Bones asking for a way to reset my progress which I did during the beta to test the game. I clearly mentioned that I don't remember any of the game systems and I need to reset my progress. And their official reply /solution was " make a new account and buy the game again."
Only mentioned off hand in the video but I’m not at all opposed to $70 or even $80 games if they’re releasing a FINISHED AND QUALITY product. N64 games were $60 in 1996. It’s honestly impressive pricing has been so stable since then considering dev time is like 5 times longer. Would like to see how the price of gas or milk compares to almost 30 years ago. It’d be cool if the extra money went to devs getting railed by crunch and polishing the product but I know it wouldn’t.
N64 games were between 45 and 60. It depended on the game because some games had higher quality cart components. It went down drastically though after launch to mostly be 45-49.99. They were expensive because they were Cartridges. Now Games are mostly Digital, so no longer have the physical components costs excuse for pricing. Games should be no more than 50 new.
@@justinlast2lastharder749 a new AAA (I don’t think they used that terminology at the time) was always $60. PlayStation and Dreamcast discs were $50, so the cost of the cart was $10 give or take. My point is that since ‘96 minimum wage (in my area) has gone up around 300% and the cost of living has probably gone up more than that. Ocarina of Time costs about $12 million to make while BotW cost around $70 million. That’s 600% more. Sure they save a boat load in distribution costs and the player base itself is an order of magnitude larger but it still doesn’t cover the difference. Part of the reason there’s so much chaos in the industry is horrible management, but the other reason is their margins are quickly shrinking and they’re scrambling to try and find a way to keep the business model afloat.
The margins are not decreasing so much as poor management leads to excess cost and time wasting. Add on top how many companies seem to expect infinite growth. So they keep investing more and more crazy amounts of money to make these giant open world games. Covid didn't help their false assumption as a bunch of high earning people suddenly had a lot more time on their hands for games. So the whole market got a temp boost, many companies heavily investing in thay growth assuming it was going to stay.
'Early Access' is a myth (aside from the Steam 'paid Beta' version). If people are able to play the game, then it's launched, it's live. Those who chose not to pay the extra money are instead forced to wait an extra 3 days after the game launches before they can play it.
Reminds me of a couple times moving in to new apartments and the landlord would let me in a few days ahead. Like sure, it's "early access" but I already paid rent for the 1st month and there's obviously nobody in there at the time, so functionally speaking it's "ready" to move in to. Same logic applies to games, if it's ready for people to be playing normally then it's launched. Pay-walling early access is just a bullshit cash grab.

It's so much worse that that. You've essentially paid THEM to allow you to beta test their broken, half-baked product. Then they can fix the game post launch after they get those tech support emails from you. Whack, right?!
It's nice to be able to slowly ramp up the load on the servers rather than have _all_ the players hit them all at once. This lets you confirm that the system is behaving as expected and gives you some time to spin up more servers if the load is not reacting as predicted. If you're going to do a three day "alpha" run, and you've got to pick a subgroup of players for that, the ones who want it badly enough to pay a bit for it seems as good a way to pick them as any.

4:51 speaking of overly-priced pre-orders, I don't know how many other people notice this but whenever you want to buy a game, the first thing you will see is the Gold/Ultimate Edition of the game that is $90+. The Standard $70 versions will always be last in line which is a very shameful thing to do.

The Helldivers devs in discord have even said that people need to leave a negative review, attempt a refund (even if it doesn't go through they track the numbers), and stop playing the game. Because Sony isn't listening to them and if the gamers can pull their fingers out we might be able to save this game. Here's the thing: as much as I would agree with Falcon here, it occurs to me that these game producers wouldn't be charging extra if NO ONE PAID FOR THEM! The problem is that a bunch of people who have enough money that they don't have to think about where they're spending it are paying for these things. If no one at all purchased the Unheard Edition of Tarkov or if no one purchased the gold or ultimate editions of Star Wars Outlaws, eventually they would be forced to either stop these extra transactions or lower the prices, but as long as idiots are buying, those companies are going to charge more. If you want to be angry at someone, don't be angry at Ubisoft for trying to make money, be angry at the idiots who encourage them by throwing money at them without looking at what they are buying.
The biggest issue with microtransactions is that streamers and content creators wont stop buying them. Apex for example, 1 content creator buying both heirloom items in a season along with the boosted battlepass is around $350. Thats not including any extras from the store, and thats at a rate of every 90 days. 365÷90 is about 4, so they are making $1400 off streamer purchases at a minimum.
Judging by the turn around time on their videos, I suspect they missed the final cut by a day or two before this was uploaded and scheduled to release.

My all time favourite is back when Wargaming started dabbling in their Dockyard Marathon missions. A few years ago on the run up to Christmas they had a Dockyard to get what the community still calls the USS Pay2Rico because if you wanted to skip the grind you could throw nearly $400 at them to get it. What you got was the Tier 10 premium ship USS Puerto Rico with perma camo plus all the awards for the mission chain. If you wanted to grind the mission however...well it was set up as the perfect example of a sunk loss fallacy. The mission chains were grouped and each group opened up to a schedule in such a way that you had a certain amount of time to get it done and the objectives they put in there were insane. Some were purely RNG based on top of that. You could of course throw money at it to speed up your progress BUT the catch was if at the end of it you fell short of the finish line, tough. Either pay up even more money so you have something to show for it or don't get the Pay2Rico. Where it got hilarious was a community stream by WoWs official on Twitch when chat challenged Wargaming to have a member of staff sit and play to prove it could be done. The response was "we can't do that. We have jobs and are very busy here" 😂
Yeah, I think that Wargaming had definitively jumped the shark when they added rocket boost to tanks. (Though I'm sure you can find many situations before that that are heading towards that level of ridiculousness.) I can't speak for the US and EU servers, but the World of Tanks Asia server these days is at only a small fraction of the number of players it was at ten years ago. I reckon the game has maybe gone to that place where it has almost no casual players any more, only whales and those putting in a _lot_ of time, and most of what they're selling is oriented towards that audience.
Yea, I'm not so sure this game will be the success they think it is. There's already plenty of red flags turning me off completely, and it sucks because the gameplay reveal actually looked pretty cool when I initially saw it.

Star Wars lost it's magic completely. The Mandalorian (season 1) was great, but it just didn't have the impact it should have. The soul-crushing trilogy just killed Star Wars for me.
You know, they weren't happy with three film trilogies and countless video games; they just keep churning out content. Definitely jumped the shark with baby Yoda. I was a fan of Star Wars until Lucas destroyed the original trilogy and gave us Jar Jar Binks. Meesa thinka yoosa need a something something new. Now, if you don't mind, I'm off to watch Katee Sackhoff play Starbuck, something actually worth watching. Maybe watch the original original Star Wars trilogy, which I have on VHS. I've got my original Kenner action figures around here somewhere....Maybe I'll just play with those and reminisce about a time when Sci-Fi was actual art.
As a 41 year old patient man I have learned to wait a year or two before buying a game. They are almost always going to go on sale and have received patches. Do this for a few years and it's like getting a constant stream of new games anyway. if it's a multiplayer game and it's any good, the servers will still be working anyway.
i'm not that old, but i still look back and remember fondly the days when the purchase price _itself_ was the entry fee into whatever game world you just purchased ...
When there are thousands of great games available for dirt cheap or even free, there's never a valid reason to shell out $100+ for a single game. Even $50 for one game is somewhat unjustified. For example, about two years ago, I picked up about 200 games for $10 in one of those massive game bundles. I'm still working my way through that bundle and it was a totally legal/legit bundle. Most are cheesy little indie games, some are total trash, but some are decent AA titles.
I know some people from gaming communities who purchased the 48k ship back in Star Citizen. They're literally millionaires. Property guys, successful retirees, high end IT guys. All of them are really humble, but will admit that for them it's not a big deal to drop that kind of money. Most of them are actually investors in a lot of game studios and don't see it as different.
Yes, I would be surprised if anyone bought that 48k pack for the content. It seems to be just one way to make a large donation to the devs, what you get in return is secondary. Still a horrible investment though, the ratio of money invested to content produced is staggering.

Ah yes, the Diablo 3 Auction House. I loved this thing for how game breaking it was, not because I spent any real world money on it, because I think that's a dumb investment to make. I just had the idea of getting the gem that makes all weapons it's socketed into level 1. Then go on the Auction House, look for any high level legendary weapons in there that are dirt cheap which are about to expire and bid on it, winning mostly everything easily, having access to weapons that haven't dropped for me or for second characters with said gem in the weapon for early game use. I remember that I got Skorn and other weapons like that that way. It was incredibly fun to work smart with in game currency, instead of paying insane amounts of real money for pixels.
I bought star citizen and I find the game pretty fun. I wouldn’t ever spend 48k to unlock every ship. I’m assuming it’s a fair price in the sense that that’s probably how much it costs to just buy every ship license in the store. Anyone who wants to play SC, it’s pretty good, but you definitely don’t need to get a super expensive ship as money is easy to come by to buy with in game currency. Using in game currency does get wiped every now and then, but it’s SUPER far in between. Like I’m talking longer than a year in between wipes as it only happens when super major updates happen. I’d recommend waiting for a “free fly” event they do every now and then where they let everyone play the game for free for a week. You can find the schedule on their website, it’s always in line with their ship expo’s where they let players try out ships/rent ships for free during that week.

Ther greedy, but I wouldn't say they suck. Only Ubi game I didn't enjoy was Watchdogs, so side stepped 2 and 3. Other than that I've been happy with my AC, FC, GR, those are wins all round in my book. Also, never paid more than 75% for an ultimate edition Ubi game, most well below 50%. That's value for money for the amount of game you get.
There are so many jack-ass people who blow their money on these games and they are really ruining it for everyone else. Just mind blowing and really greedy
imho the main reason for the high UBI prices is to get people to sub uplay+ - because otherwise their subscription doesn't make sense as all their games are time-eaters that can easily swallow 100-200 hours each and are on sale very often

Nr 1: Raising game prices from $60 to $70, yet still releasing them unfinished, riddled with glitches and bugs, showcases a level of greediness that's deeply disappointing and unacceptable.
Some games are actually a lot more expensive. Games used to release with all those available features, but now you have to buy the "special" editions (released on the same day) to get them. At least, some games. Other games (ie Elden Ring) release with all features. If Elden Ring was released by (insert greedy company name here) then you wouldn't get the full game.
As cynical as it sounds, for most of these I feel like you deserve to have your money ripped from you if you actually bought into any of this. Who is paying 48k for a freaking ship? At this point Star Citizen is trying to be EVE Online without actually having a released game, and at this rate theyll never have to release it. And who is still out here trusting anything from Molyneux?

I am SO HAPPY for mentioning Apex Legends. seeing tarkov's edition price didn't even phase me because Apex players have been spending $150 (mutliple times) for years.. i have 4 heirlooms and only 1 of them was free.. so i am guilty of giving them around $450 (atleast)
Star Citizen isn't the same as the other games on here. I play it fairly regularly and I love it. It can be a buggy mess much of the time because it is still in development but it is incredible and unlike nearly anything else I have ever played (aside from Wing Commander and the ARMA games of course). Also the $48k package is absurd and only for the few extreme whales out there that demanded it. CIG is perhaps the most open and transparent developer in the industry with their constant weekly updates and developer interview shows. Its not perfect of course, but as a player and backer I am quite satisfied with their efforts and progress overall. I definitely recommend waiting for the game to be fully released unless you enjoy being part of an ongoing development process.
You’re not quite right about Star Citizen. They put a vote out to all backers in 2014 to finish the planned game or start DEV again from scratch with a new engine. 80% voted to start again.
Can confirm. I was part of that 80% vote. A decade on, and I still stand by it. Even in Alpha, Star Citizen is still more fun than almost any AAA game.

Nier Automata, it's story, it's gameplay, it's variety and Okabe-san's incredible score, it could all be a turn off for some but i adored the game, it is one of the greatest games ever made and i wish i could play it again for the first time (and the soundtrack is my favourite video game soundtrack of all time)
Honorable mention: iRacing. Their whole business model is ridiculous and under the guise of "not a game" but a "service". Subscription to access the game and then you have to buy cars and tracks on top of that. It's a multiplayer game but there are single player aspects in the form of time trials and practice sessions. So you'd think that if you stop paying the subscription you'd at least be able to drive cars you bought in singleplayer. Nope, can't log into your account to even look at a JPEG of the content you paid for in the user interface. Content is held hostage by subscription. The only reason they get away with it is because it's an old game and has always been like that. They'd never get away with if it was releasing today. Yet they deserve to be called out on it, shameful business practice.
I was going to bring that up also. It’s one thing to have to pay a subscription fee to access the game, but it’s another when you have to pay more on top of that just to access the full list of content. It’s outrageous!
9:35 ok so I'm definitely in this group.... RMAH was like a second job for me that paid for all my addictions such as gaming music TH-cam and building my liquor wall which took ages and cost over 11,000 bucks.. I would go work 8 hours a day 4 days a week and make kinda meh money, it was enough to support me but I was basically broke at the end of every pay period. When I got into the RMAH and I had my girlfriend and my best friend playing with me basically at any time I wanted we could party up and go grind out gear which I always had fun doing, then we would all trade out what we wanted and didn't want, split the loot up, then go sell it. Didn't make like a LOT of money but it was like similar to if I had a part time minimum wage job on the side.

Dude I opened a ticket in Skull and Bones asking for a way to reset my progress which I did during the beta to test the game. I clearly mentioned that I don't remember any of the game systems and I need to reset my progress. And their official reply /solution was " make a new account and buy the game again."

Only mentioned off hand in the video but I’m not at all opposed to $70 or even $80 games if they’re releasing a FINISHED AND QUALITY product. N64 games were $60 in 1996. It’s honestly impressive pricing has been so stable since then considering dev time is like 5 times longer. Would like to see how the price of gas or milk compares to almost 30 years ago. It’d be cool if the extra money went to devs getting railed by crunch and polishing the product but I know it wouldn’t.
N64 games were between 45 and 60. It depended on the game because some games had higher quality cart components. It went down drastically though after launch to mostly be 45-49.99. They were expensive because they were Cartridges. Now Games are mostly Digital, so no longer have the physical components costs excuse for pricing. Games should be no more than 50 new.
@@justinlast2lastharder749 a new AAA (I don’t think they used that terminology at the time) was always $60. PlayStation and Dreamcast discs were $50, so the cost of the cart was $10 give or take. My point is that since ‘96 minimum wage (in my area) has gone up around 300% and the cost of living has probably gone up more than that. Ocarina of Time costs about $12 million to make while BotW cost around $70 million. That’s 600% more. Sure they save a boat load in distribution costs and the player base itself is an order of magnitude larger but it still doesn’t cover the difference. Part of the reason there’s so much chaos in the industry is horrible management, but the other reason is their margins are quickly shrinking and they’re scrambling to try and find a way to keep the business model afloat.
The margins are not decreasing so much as poor management leads to excess cost and time wasting.
Add on top how many companies seem to expect infinite growth. So they keep investing more and more crazy amounts of money to make these giant open world games.
Covid didn't help their false assumption as a bunch of high earning people suddenly had a lot more time on their hands for games. So the whole market got a temp boost, many companies heavily investing in thay growth assuming it was going to stay.

'Early Access' is a myth (aside from the Steam 'paid Beta' version). If people are able to play the game, then it's launched, it's live. Those who chose not to pay the extra money are instead forced to wait an extra 3 days after the game launches before they can play it.
Reminds me of a couple times moving in to new apartments and the landlord would let me in a few days ahead. Like sure, it's "early access" but I already paid rent for the 1st month and there's obviously nobody in there at the time, so functionally speaking it's "ready" to move in to. Same logic applies to games, if it's ready for people to be playing normally then it's launched. Pay-walling early access is just a bullshit cash grab.

It's so much worse that that. You've essentially paid THEM to allow you to beta test their broken, half-baked product. Then they can fix the game post launch after they get those tech support emails from you. Whack, right?!
It's nice to be able to slowly ramp up the load on the servers rather than have _all_ the players hit them all at once. This lets you confirm that the system is behaving as expected and gives you some time to spin up more servers if the load is not reacting as predicted.
If you're going to do a three day "alpha" run, and you've got to pick a subgroup of players for that, the ones who want it badly enough to pay a bit for it seems as good a way to pick them as any.

The Standard $70 versions will always be last in line which is a very shameful thing to do.

The Helldivers devs in discord have even said that people need to leave a negative review, attempt a refund (even if it doesn't go through they track the numbers), and stop playing the game. Here's the thing: as much as I would agree with Falcon here, it occurs to me that these game producers wouldn't be charging extra if NO ONE PAID FOR THEM! The problem is that a bunch of people who have enough money that they don't have to think about where they're spending it are paying for these things. If no one at all purchased the Unheard Edition of Tarkov or if no one purchased the gold or ultimate editions of Star Wars Outlaws, eventually they would be forced to either stop these extra transactions or lower the prices, but as long as idiots are buying, those companies are going to charge more. If you want to be angry at someone, don't be angry at Ubisoft for trying to make money, be angry at the idiots who encourage them by throwing money at them without looking at what they are buying.

The biggest issue with microtransactions is that streamers and content creators wont stop buying them. Apex for example, 1 content creator buying both heirloom items in a season along with the boosted battlepass is around $350. Thats not including any extras from the store, and thats at a rate of every 90 days. 365÷90 is about 4, so they are making $1400 off streamer purchases at a minimum.
How Sony didn't make the list is baffling. They just keep making the most ignorant decisions.
Judging by the turn around time on their videos, I suspect they missed the final cut by a day or two before this was uploaded and scheduled to release.

My all time favourite is back when Wargaming started dabbling in their Dockyard Marathon missions. A few years ago on the run up to Christmas they had a Dockyard to get what the community still calls the USS Pay2Rico because if you wanted to skip the grind you could throw nearly $400 at them to get it. What you got was the Tier 10 premium ship USS Puerto Rico with perma camo plus all the awards for the mission chain. If you wanted to grind the mission however...well it was set up as the perfect example of a sunk loss fallacy. The mission chains were grouped and each group opened up to a schedule in such a way that you had a certain amount of time to get it done and the objectives they put in there were insane. Some were purely RNG based on top of that. You could of course throw money at it to speed up your progress BUT the catch was if at the end of it you fell short of the finish line, tough. Either pay up even more money so you have something to show for it or don't get the Pay2Rico.
Where it got hilarious was a community stream by WoWs official on Twitch when chat challenged Wargaming to have a member of staff sit and play to prove it could be done. The response was "we can't do that. We have jobs and are very busy here" 😂
Yeah, I think that Wargaming had definitively jumped the shark when they added rocket boost to tanks. (Though I'm sure you can find many situations before that that are heading towards that level of ridiculousness.)
I can't speak for the US and EU servers, but the World of Tanks Asia server these days is at only a small fraction of the number of players it was at ten years ago. I reckon the game has maybe gone to that place where it has almost no casual players any more, only whales and those putting in a _lot_ of time, and most of what they're selling is oriented towards that audience.

Yea, I'm not so sure this game will be the success they think it is. There's already plenty of red flags turning me off completely, and it sucks because the gameplay reveal actually looked pretty cool when I initially saw it.

Star Wars lost it's magic completely. The Mandalorian (season 1) was great, but it just didn't have the impact it should have. The soul-crushing trilogy just killed Star Wars for me.
You know, they weren't happy with three film trilogies and countless video games; they just keep churning out content. Definitely jumped the shark with baby Yoda. I was a fan of Star Wars until Lucas destroyed the original trilogy and gave us Jar Jar Binks. Meesa thinka yoosa need a something something new. Now, if you don't mind, I'm off to watch Katee Sackhoff play Starbuck, something actually worth watching. Maybe watch the original original Star Wars trilogy, which I have on VHS. I've got my original Kenner action figures around here somewhere....Maybe I'll just play with those and reminisce about a time when Sci-Fi was actual art.
As a 41 year old patient man I have learned to wait a year or two before buying a game. They are almost always going to go on sale and have received patches. Do this for a few years and it's like getting a constant stream of new games anyway. if it's a multiplayer game and it's any good, the servers will still be working anyway.

When there are thousands of great games available for dirt cheap or even free, there's never a valid reason to shell out $100+ for a single game. Even $50 for one game is somewhat unjustified. For example, about two years ago, I picked up about 200 games for $10 in one of those massive game bundles. I'm still working my way through that bundle and it was a totally legal/legit bundle. Most are cheesy little indie games, some are total trash, but some are decent AA titles.

I know some people from gaming communities who purchased the 48k ship back in Star Citizen. They're literally millionaires. Property guys, successful retirees, high end IT guys. All of them are really humble, but will admit that for them it's not a big deal to drop that kind of money. Most of them are actually investors in a lot of game studios and don't see it as different.
Yes, I would be surprised if anyone bought that 48k pack for the content. It seems to be just one way to make a large donation to the devs, what you get in return is secondary.

Ah yes, the Diablo 3 Auction House. I loved this thing for how game breaking it was, not because I spent any real world money on it, because I think that's a dumb investment to make. I just had the idea of getting the gem that makes all weapons it's socketed into level 1. Then go on the Auction House, look for any high level legendary weapons in there that are dirt cheap which are about to expire and bid on it, winning mostly everything easily, having access to weapons that haven't dropped for me or for second characters with said gem in the weapon for early game use. I remember that I got Skorn and other weapons like that that way. It was incredibly fun to work smart with in game currency, instead of paying insane amounts of real money for pixels.
I bought star citizen and I find the game pretty fun. I wouldn’t ever spend 48k to unlock every ship. I’m assuming it’s a fair price in the sense that that’s probably how much it costs to just buy every ship license in the store. Anyone who wants to play SC, it’s pretty good, but you definitely don’t need to get a super expensive ship as money is easy to come by to buy with in game currency. Using in game currency does get wiped every now and then, but it’s SUPER far in between. Like I’m talking longer than a year in between wipes as it only happens when super major updates happen.
I’d recommend waiting for a “free fly” event they do every now and then where they let everyone play the game for free for a week. You can find the schedule on their website, it’s always in line with their ship expo’s where they let players try out ships/rent ships for free during that week.

Ther greedy, but I wouldn't say they suck. Only Ubi game I didn't enjoy was Watchdogs, so side stepped 2 and 3. Other than that I've been happy with my AC, FC, GR, those are wins all round in my book. Also, never paid more than 75% for an ultimate edition Ubi game, most well below 50%. That's value for money for the amount of game you get.

imho the main reason for the high UBI prices is to get people to sub uplay+ - because otherwise their subscription doesn't make sense as all their games are time-eaters that can easily swallow 100-200 hours each and are on sale very often

Some games are actually a lot more expensive. Games used to release with all those available features, but now you have to buy the "special" editions (released on the same day) to get them. At least, some games. Other games (ie Elden Ring) release with all features. If Elden Ring was released by (insert greedy company name here) then you wouldn't get the full game.

Star Citizen isn't the same as the other games on here. I play it fairly regularly and I love it. It can be a buggy mess much of the time because it is still in development but it is incredible and unlike nearly anything else I have ever played (aside from Wing Commander and the ARMA games of course). Also the $48k package is absurd and only for the few extreme whales out there that demanded it. CIG is perhaps the most open and transparent developer in the industry with their constant weekly updates and developer interview shows. Its not perfect of course, but as a player and backer I am quite satisfied with their efforts and progress overall. I definitely recommend waiting for the game to be fully released unless you enjoy being part of an ongoing development process.

You’re not quite right about Star Citizen. They put a vote out to all backers in 2014 to finish the planned game or start DEV again from scratch with a new engine. 80% voted to start again.
Can confirm. I was part of that 80% vote. A decade on, and I still stand by it. Even in Alpha, Star Citizen is still more fun than almost any AAA game.

tbf star citizen is actually starting to look real good with the upcoming patches but yeh... even tho i did hit "vip" i would never spend 48.000 on a ship pack what makes playing the game useless as u got all the ships already xD

I love the sass in Falcon's voice whenever he's talking about "rare" items or "ultra deluxe" special bonuses. It's almost as if you can hear the quotation marks as he's speaking lol. And then he goes and rips the bandage off by following it up and saying it's all virtual video game crap at the end of the day and none of it is real lmao.

Nier Automata, it's story, it's gameplay, it's variety and Okabe-san's incredible score, it could all be a turn off for some but i adored the game, it is one of the greatest games ever made and i wish i could play it again for the first time (and the soundtrack is my favourite video game soundtrack of all time)

Honorable mention: iRacing. Their whole business model is ridiculous and under the guise of "not a game" but a "service". Subscription to access the game and then you have to buy cars and tracks on top of that. It's a multiplayer game but there are single player aspects in the form of time trials and practice sessions. So you'd think that if you stop paying the subscription you'd at least be able to drive cars you bought in singleplayer. Nope, can't log into your account to even look at a JPEG of the content you paid for in the user interface.
Content is held hostage by subscription. The only reason they get away with it is because it's an old game and has always been like that. They'd never get away with if it was releasing today. Yet they deserve to be called out on it, shameful business practice.
I was going to bring that up also. It’s one thing to have to pay a subscription fee to access the game, but it’s another when you have to pay more on top of that just to access the full list of content. It’s outrageous!

9:35 ok so I'm definitely in this group.... RMAH was like a second job for me that paid for all my addictions such as gaming music TH-cam and building my liquor wall which took ages and cost over 11,000 bucks.. I would go work 8 hours a day 4 days a week and make kinda meh money, it was enough to support me but I was basically broke at the end of every pay period. When I got into the RMAH and I had my girlfriend and my best friend playing with me basically at any time I wanted we could party up and go grind out gear which I always had fun doing, then we would all trade out what we wanted and didn't want, split the loot up, then go sell it. Didn't make like a LOT of money but it was like similar to if I had a part time minimum wage job on the side.
I'm glad gameranx chose number 6 to be the razer mask debacle that was all too funny and even just hearing about it makes me laugh so hard right now 🤣
