- Most of us take hundreds of photos that usually remain on our devices most of the time, barely being looked at. Have you ever thought of taking your best photos off your phone and bringing them into your life? It's possible now: with the HP Sprocket mini photo printer that is designed to make this process quick and easy. In this review, I'll take a look and the functions of this mini printer, what it does and how well it works. Let's go over the photo quality you get, as well as if I think it is a worthwhile buy for you for around CAD 109.

What to know about the HP Sprocket
The critical thing about this photo printer is the fact that it prints tiny 2'' x 3'' photos. (Go for the "Plus" or "Studio" models if you want larger formats, and go through my review of HP Sprocket Studio here.) These photos are exclusively designed for teens who want to use pictures to decorate or share, essentially since they print on sticky-backed sheets.
Set up & paper installation
The printer is easy to open with no tools required, and putting the paper in is as simple as stacking it in the open space with the blue initializing card facing down. Powering on the HP Sprocket should print out that blue card immediately to ensure it’s ready for use.
Overall review: HP Sprocket
Overall this is a cute and fun print for those with less severe needs. On the pro end, it's small, portable, easy to use, and doesn't require any additional ink cartridge.
On the downside though, the HP mini printer is a bit dated due to its inconsistent and often slow printing speed, and its imperfect color replication. The micro-USB cable personifies this as a 'relic' of the past (maybe a future version will have Qi wireless charging or USB-C), but the cute and playful design and cute sticker prints are sure to make teens swoon!
The cost of photo sticker paper is expensive when compared to standard 4x6 prints, but it is still affordable enough which makes it an excellent first photo printer.
I recommend the HP Mini Printer to you. It sells for about CAD 109.
Summary
It's an unconventional printer geared toward a niche market, as long as you know what you want to get. Enjoy this portable photo printer!

This lady is giving news anchor. Very informative though
Thank you!
Great review. I am not a teen but will still use this printer to add photo to my Bullet Journal. It will enhance it alot and help bringing memories when I review my journal later.
Great idea Pierre 🙂
Thank you, your review helped me get going quickly! I picked up this lil guy specifically for journaling. I knew the prints wouldn’t be top tier, but what sold me on it was that it doesn’t need ink refills. It came down to this or the Canon Ivy, and I feel like I’ve made the right choice. So cute!
I love how honest this review is. Very helpful, thanks a bunch
Glad it was helpful!
I’m in my 60’s and use mine for my memory book when travelling
Do you work as a news anchor, you sound like you do lol, great commentary.
Thank you 😊. Yes I did. Once upon a time.
Your video is spot on! I didn't get the understanding of the blue paper until I watched this and mine wouldn't pair well either. I had to go to the Bluetooth menu like you did. The quality is rough and since I'm a dark skinned lady, it's pretty obvious. I don't want to return it but I can't justify the cost for such a disappointment. Thanks again for doing this video! 💜
Glad I could help and thanks for the view!
I have used mine for about 3 years.
I've one a Sprocket for a while and have not had any of the issues you mentioned.. Thanks for the review though.
Great review. I think this is very convenient since I can’t remember the last time I’ve printed a picture.
It really is!
Omg. That blue paper fixed the greenish photos. Definitely need to run that blue thing first before printing.
I had recently purchased my HP Sprocket 200 and now I am currently experiencing problems with the print quality just after three uses. I noticed after printing out some photos have red spots or blotches on them. I am worried this will be an ongoing problem whenever I print something from my HP Sprocket and I don’t know what’s causing that problem and I need help. 😥
Thanks, Erin.
Any time!
Excellent review, thank you sharing
Thanks for watching!
Question...do you have to use the app to print photo? can you just click on a photo from your gallery? does the printer show up in available printers when you do that??
Loved this review! Would you say the printed photos have a, kind of, “filter” like a printed Polaroid picture?
What other recommendations do you have for the 2024, in the portable printers ?
Is this the luna or eclipse version and wich of the 2 versions of paper did you use?
I was about to say you sound like pro journalist 😂, you're

Not all of us use rip of Apple devices so it would have been nice if you had compared with the Android app for the device.
