This was unbelievably helpful. I struggled to find a really good review that actually talked about the usage and photo comparisons instead of just the manufacturing info. This was the detailed review I needed. Thank you so much!
I own the Canon Selphy, too, and it has never disappointed me in the five years I own it (I use it at least once a week). Crafty hugs from Carmen, Germany 🇩🇪
Great review! I was a portrait photographer for a local grocery giant for many years, so I also did the photo lab work as well. The Canon Selphies use the exact same technology as the instant Kodak kiosks used in many photo labs and studios, so you're absolutely right when you say the quality is comparable. Most labs now use standard inkjet printers now as well, not the old tech using chemicals, so a high quality home printer will compare well with them. Labs who take 35mm film often scan film to print on inkjets.
You can get 2x3 sticker paper for the Selphy but it's quite expensive. The "Selphy Creative Kit" comes with a smaller paper tray, smaller paper and mini sticker sheets. You can also buy the smaller paper tray on it's own (PCC-CP400) then the products are KC-18IF for the 18 small sticker sheets, KC-36IP for the 36 small non-sticker sheets, and KC-18IL for the 18 mini sticker sheets.
Thank you so much for this review. Knowledgable, impartial and truthful of the poducts. It's also quite nice you printed the two same photos for every printer for a real colour comparison.
There are a number of 2x3 zink printers out. After testing out a few, I ended up keeping the canon ivy 2. It ultimately came down to the app for me (and having a usbc charging port was nice).
Very informative. I previously owned both the Canon Selphy 12 and 13 but I didn't like the fact that the prints were not true 4x6 and have since switched to the Epson PM 400 which I absolutely love. It prints 4x6 and 5x7.
Thank you so much for sharing! The fact that it is not a true 4x6 has always bothered me too. And it would be so nice to be able to print 5x7 as well, especially since that's what most of the frames around my house are. This is definitely going on my wish list!
The PM400 is a great printer but it is twice as more expensive as Selphy, three times as big and not portable: Selphy CP 1200, 1300, 1500 all portable if you buy the CP2LH Canon battery. Enormously big difference.
@@miklosnemeth8566 I take my PM400 to all my crops without any issues but that is just me. I had a Selphy 1200 and a 1300 but I didn't like that they were not true 4x6 plus my Epson also prints 5x7 which I like.

I have the Kodak mini 2 and I think it's most comparable to the Selphy square. I think its really good but there is one problem; It doesn't have the option to use sticker paper. Apparently there used to be sticker paper for it but it was discontinued. I stick it in my journal with washi tape but it would be nice if there was a thinner paper.

How are your Sprocket photos? I’m disappointed with mine as the colours are weird and nothing really fixes it. I don’t want to have to try and mess with every single photo to try to counteract odd tints.
@@traceybartlam7737 I have to admit my sprocket pics aren’t that great either. They are darker and somewhat colored weird, but I still use it occasionally. I prefer my SELPHY as the pics look great on it.

Thanks for sharing. Which of these have the best value in terms of upfront cost + refills? Also, I think you have the Ivy 1. I'm curious how it stacks up to the Ivy 2.
I feel like the Canon Selphy is the best value, and better quality. But it's not sticker paper. I tend to gravitate to that one the most. Especially since I can fit several pictures on one page. I will usually do 4, and they come out the same size as the sticker printers. Hope that helps!
This is the first time I have heard of this version! Thank you for letting me know about it. I think I may need to get myself a little Christmas present 🎁 I'll be sure to post a video when I do!
Great video and I like you printed the same picture with all of the printers. I can’t find the canon 1300, did they update it to the 1500? I saw comments that say it does not print a 4x6 size so I’m wondering what size the picture is? I didn’t know there was a printer that prints square prints. Cool! I’ve been researching other printers and can’t decide between the Canon 1500, Polaroid Hi print, there was a Kodak one, and a brand called Liene.

Good question! I think the Canon Selphy has the best value. The only downside is that it's not sticker paper and not as portable as the others. I will keep using my Canon Ivy for the smaller ones and eventually upgrade to the newer version. I only use it occasionally, though; I feel like it is a bit expensive for refills.
I am so sorry, I just saw this! I have not had any trouble with the QX10. I usually have paper problems with the Canon Ivy though. The paper always bends and won't feed though.
@upenyucreativity The bigger SELPHY 1300 will give you a lot of printing options, but won’t be sticker paper. The convenience of the Ivy is excellent for beginners, it will just lack in color quality a little because it’s a different printing technology.

Just wondering tho if the photo thickness of the non-square Selphy is similar to the square Selphy? [Trying not to bulk up my Wonderland222 planner so quickly!] Thanks so much!!
The paper in the larger Selphy is a bit thicker than the Selphy Square, and then once you add adhesive, that could make it a tad bit thicker too. You may want to stick with the Square, but I did notice that my last batch of sticker paper didn't stick as well. Not sure if maybe it was expired, or if it was the type of material I was trying to stick it too.

Since you said you’ve used older version of canon selphy cp1300 for several years now, would you be able to attest that the photo quality is good? Does it fade over time? Also, can you cut in small pieces if you make a collage?
I'm sure they will eventually fade, but so far, they are still going strong. The Canon Selphy images are more vibrant and clear than some of my other older printer images. I feel it is by far the best quality of them all.

I have heard that you can use a power bank! That is so good to know. As for the sticker paper, I haven't really looked but I would think someone out there is making a compatible sticker paper. Let me know if you find some. Thanks for watching!
Excellent review video...A quick question...I am looking for a portable printer to use in conjunction with a digital camera. I know the Canon Selphy 1300 can print from a digital camera, but can any of the others? Or are they only compatible with Android and iOS devices?
Thank you! And I think the only way you could print from the smaller printers is if your camera has an app for your phone. Then you could transfer your photos to your phone from that app, and then use the printer app to print. Hope that helps!
I have both the Selphy and the Ivy, and the quality out of the Selphy is definitely much better. I hear the Ivy 2 produces improved prints. I’ve played a little with contrast, color balance, and saturation on the Ivy, and it helps, but it can be expensive.
That's good to know about the Ivy 2. I may have to upgrade sometime soon, but the cost of the sticker paper does make me hesitant. Convenience can be so expensive 😣
Hello Thankyou for sharing with us, love your videos , I just wanna ask which one do you recommend for small businesses to use like are these portable printer fit for small businesses( looking forward to your reply) 🥹🥹
I highly recommend the Canon Selphy 1300 or Canon Selphy Square. If you want sticker paper and have the ability to immediately use it without a power cord, this is the one for you. The Canon Selphy 1300 has larger paper, is not sticker paper, and comes with a power cord. Although I have been told you can buy a battery for it. With all that being said, the Canon Slephy 1300 is my favorite. I think there may be a newer version of it now. Hope that helps!
I had a friend whose Selphy stopped working correctly, but that was quite a few years back. It's a bummer that they have a few bad ones out there, but for the most part, the two I have owned have worked really well. Maybe reach out to Canon?
This is actually a brilliant question, I never even thought of that. I believe the Canon Slephy can, but I would do a little more research. Let me know if you can't find an answer, and I will give it a try!
Cost-wise, and image-quality - how does it compare to sending to print (either online, or to local print like Walgreens)? I know the convenience of printing is nice, but I’m ok with waiting for prints. Thanks for sharing this video. I enjoyed it!
Honestly, I cringe a little every time I have to buy refills for any of these printers. If you don't mind waiting, I would send them off to be printed! I love these for their convenience 🤗
Thank you so much for this review! Great to see these Canon products compared, and even alongside a similar competitor printer. So many other videos are just plagiarized AI-generated garbage videos. FINALLY, a real person showing the printer! :D Might give the Selphy a try. I hear you can also get a battery pack for it to make it more portable!
The Canon Selphy is a portable printer. It actually uses batteries. It does NOT need to be plugged into the wall. The batteries are sold separately though.

Can i use different paper brand for selphy??❤
I haven't tried a different brand in my Selphy, but I have with my Canon Ivy and it worked perfectly fine. Hope that helps a little!
Plzz can you tell which app you have used to print canon
I use PicStitch to build my collages and then i just use the recommended Canon App to print on the Sephy. Hope that helps!
Hello, does the Canon Selphy print in 5x7 (13x18 cm) size?
I’m reading that it does not. However an Epson PM400 does but is pricey.
This is amazing. Thank You ❤️
Glad you like it!
How mutch for a cardige in first one?
@@DiaMeraz Thankyou so much 🙏🏼
I see there is a Canon Selpy 1500. Is that one as good?
It’s the same image quality, just a newer model. No IQ upgrades.
Awesome review! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was so helpful. Thanks much for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Something like the can selpy is Kodak retro 3.. but it is not lasting my cartridge keep messing up until it spoilt
I had a friend whose Selphy stopped working correctly, but that was quite a few years back. It's a bummer that they have a few bad ones out there, but for the most part, the two I have owned have worked really well. Maybe reach out to Canon?
Do all these printers work only for cell phones, or can I connect my camera to them?
This is actually a brilliant question, I never even thought of that. I believe the Canon Slephy can, but I would do a little more research. Let me know if you can't find an answer, and I will give it a try!
Canon CP1500 can print card size photos :)
Do you know where to get the card size paper? I would love if you have a link to share! 🤗
Cost-wise, and image-quality -
how does it compare to sending to print (either online, or to local print like Walgreens)?
I know the convenience of printing is nice, but I’m ok with waiting for prints.
Thanks for sharing this video.
I enjoyed it!
Honestly, I cringe a little every time I have to buy refills for any of these printers. If you don't mind waiting, I would send them off to be printed! I love these for their convenience 🤗
Thank you so much for this review! Great to see these Canon products compared, and even alongside a similar competitor printer. So many other videos are just plagiarized AI-generated garbage videos. FINALLY, a real person showing the printer! :D
Might give the Selphy a try. I hear you can also get a battery pack for it to make it more portable!
So glad it was helpful!
What is the fastest print speed.
Looking to take and print pics of 100 kids in a row need something fast
The selphy can make mobile with a battery and you can Print Sticker paper.
So helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
What's the second one pls... canon what??
I think you are referring to the Canon Selphy Square 🤗
Question about the Canon Selphy Square QX10. Where can I get more Ink Cassette for it?
I usually purchase mine on Amazon, but I have grabbed a refill at Best Buy in the past.
You do get a battery for Canon Selphy, so it is portable.
The Canon Selphy is a portable printer. It actually uses batteries. It does NOT need to be plugged into the wall. The batteries are sold separately though.
Thanks!!
Very helpful, thank you 💕🎀
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! 😉
Whenever I use matte finish, it looks like crap with the Selphy
If I remember correctly, I don't use it for that reason as well. I forgot it even had that option!
It is portable with additional battery and also works on WiFi
Great review!
Thanks!
It has a battery available.
love it me subscribed
The Selphy actually is portable, but it requires purchasing a separate battery.
😊
