    I went with the Kodak and my daughter is super happy! Instax does have that old polaroid feel to it but the running costs (film) is way too expensive. ZINK was always out of the debate because the photo quality is terrible and the photos fade away over time.

      I wonder how long the Kodak prints will last! I am basically thinking about this printer as well, as Instax is lovely, but very expensive to run.

    I’m sold. The Kodak it is. I have a larger Canon Selphy that uses the same kind of printing tech, but it’s really not practical as a mobile device.

    What a transparent review! This is an honest review comparing all the photo printers. I think ZINK paper might have a better dynamic range, but the image seems darker and muted in color. The colors on Kodak paper were bright and vibrant, and the picture was softer. Considering the size of these prints, the Kodak paper is much better than the ZINK paper for sharper details. Definitely, my first choice will be the KODAK Mini 2 Retro.

      But doesn’t Kodak use Zink?

  • @marcshnn
    @marcshnn ปีที่แล้ว +11

    There was another review on youtuber that did a water splash test, and the ZINK print was destroyed immediately. The instax film basically did not change at all. Maybe you should include that? Some people do sweat or have clammy fingers and may accidentally damage the film.

      I have a sprocket too and find the pictures aren’t great. They’re clear enough for a mini printer however no matter what they’re all a weird pink or odd tint. Online suggests it needs to cool down but that’s not true as the first print out will be the same when the machine is cool. Disappointing results. I see others using it with good photo results but mine aren’t. I decided on the HP because running costs were lower but I’m often disappointed with the results.

The product info is not clear on that part. Also have you compared the Kodak step slim instant? It’s hard to tell the difference or if just a newer version.

    I have and love the Instax. I choose carefully which pictures to print - and actually it's not an alternative for a real photo print. For me, it's that feel of that polaroid, colours also a bit retro - it's not about the perfect depiction of reality, for me it's more about the feeling that moment I wanted to capture had.

    I am excited. I just ordered the Kodak. I have been looking up reviews, watching too many you tube videos for 3 days now!!! I have a HP sprocket from when the first came out. I love it. But, the colors were a little off. And now that it was THAT MANY years ago, I don't have all the same app access since my Sprocket is so old. I also have one of the original Canon Selphy 4 x 6 photo printers using. And LOVE the quality of the photos. The Dye Sup process is just amazing. And the pricing of the refill cartridges and paper for the Kodak is affordable. Thank you so much. Even though I do love myself some sticky back paper? I know want to make a photo album of my ENTIRE iPhone photos! I miss photo albums. I know the picture will be small, but they will be ACCESSIBLE for me to flip through whenever I want! THANK YOU!!!

    So are the temperature limits just for the photo paper? for example if you're on a sunny beach but keep the photo paper shaded by an umbrella while it develops will the image come out ok? And if you manage to keep the temperature stable around the developing photo will that also be ok? And once it's developed will the image stay ok, or does it need to stay out of those environments forever? Thanks in advance for your response!

    • @PhotoBookGuru
      @PhotoBookGuru  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, once the image is developed, it should be fine. The developing stage is critical. But also, as with any electrical device, you shouldn't keep the camera with film in it in the sun for hours as it could melt or heat up and get damaged.

    This was certainly biased because firstly if you are rating on detail then the colour shouldn’t be a factor in the rating. Secondly the price for a zink photo is always going to be considerably cheaper than using other printing technologies on the market today because you don’t need to buy ink, so your price per print is inaccurate. Really to rate portable photo printers fairly you should be comparing printers using the same printing technology.
