  • The struggle is real - teaching and learning can be challenging from either perspective. How to use CRSSP strategies to make teaching and learning more engaging. Dedicating her adult life to inspiring her students with discovering their strengths and inspiring personal growth, not only as learners, but as people. Wholeheartedly believing learning can, and should be, both rigorous and fun. Michele started her educational career as a speech/language pathologist and 18 years teaching 3rd grade. For the past 16 years, she has been a well known and respected gifted/talented/enrichment specialist at the elementary school level, challenging students in grades K - 4. During the height of COVID, she spent one year back in the classroom, teaching 4th grade. Michele is involved with Odyssey of the Mind program. She has helped hundreds of students in grades K - 12 improve their creative problem solving skills. For several years, Michele also served as the Director for Camp Invention, a summertime STEM camp. Currently, Michele teaches watercolor painting classes, is an avid crafter, and is very active in her church community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

So glad you enjoyed it. I want to motivate those going into teaching and those who are already teaching but feeling discouraged. I also hope to inspire instructional leaders to allow teachers to teach this way - to make it rigorous, but also engaging and fun - for everyone - including the teachers! Best of luck to you Natasha!

“Teachers wanted to teach this way but their hands are tied”
Exactly the situation I am in.
We really need a revolution in education.

A wonderful teacher, kind and respectful, and your words are very beautiful. May God bless you. If they used this method with us in schools, we would be good and we love studying. In my country, a failed study, and a teacher beats the child and also scolds him with bad words. He leaves school. The child is the reason for this method. Until Jed thinks about the reason for the aggressive style with a teacher and his student, and he has pressure from his family, his teacher, and the child’s teacher. What should he do?

Thank you Ma'am. I am currently teach as student-teacher. In my experience, students raise their hand nonstop if the question or activity is all about expressing themselves. for example: describe yourself in oneword, what song describe your feelings at this moment. if you going to learned musical instrument what instrument would you select?

I’ve railed for many years- since my son was in grade school- about the constant testing and what people call “teaching to the test.” I firmly believe that the rigid standards may be a serious detriment to creative learning and ruin spontaneous teachable moments
