The punchline of the whole Just Dance event failing and resorting to mimicking had me rolling. "They are in fact... Just dancing" I had a good belly laugh at that end.
I don't know why it isn't just a dance competition and why exactly it needs the Just Dance branding and hinging their whole operation on terrible Switch tech
This may have been the best car horn yet. Kyle, after watching this episode, and especially the bonus bit. Ive come to realize the tremendous amount of work you put into these episodes. Being able to think of a funny/entertaining subject quickly, do research, write funny jokes, write an entire episode, film and edit it, all solo. You are truly a talented dude. Ive been around since you started at GT, and Ill be around for as long as you keep going. Thanks man.
Kyle, I think this is one of your strongest episodes yet. The main story and bonus bit were perfectly written and executed. Knowing the internet I'm sure that engagement will be lower than your spicier takes, but it deserves just as much attention as your highest viewed episodes.
I think these companies buying up studios are finding out it isn't about the IP, it's about the talent. And buying the studio is no guarantee that the talent will stick around. In fact they usually don't. Professional sports have long since figured this out. They bend over backwards to keep certain talented players on their team, and yet when the creative talent behind a game studio is frustrated and threatens to leave they are met with a shrug and are shown the door.
The biggest difference between the way Microsoft/Embracer purchase studios vs how Sony/Nintendo do it is the former go after IP whilst the latter go after talent.
You'd think Microsoft especially would've figured this out when one of the first things they did in the gaming space was spend $375 million to buy Rare for their IP, and then that IP went on to do basically nothing for them, especially after all the talent ditched the company due to the horrible mismanagement.
@@KevinCow Yes, because the Microsoft from like 20 years ago is the same it is now. Same organisation. If you have a hard on for Xbox or MS in particular just own that. Also what IP did MS buy Rare for that were commercially relevant at the time?
@@Galero15 I'm not sure what makes you think I have a hard on for Xbox. I barely touched my Xbone, and the XSX is the only major console in like 20 years I don't have. I know it's not the same people, but I think it's pretty reasonable to expect a guy getting paid like 8 gajillion dollars to run a company to know the history of that company, at the very least to avoid repeating past mistakes. Especially when that history includes one of the most disastrous acquisitions in gaming history.
The thing people don't think about is how many AAA games MS can fund with the money they would throw at a dysfunctional companies like Activision and Blizzard when they have insane amount of their own IPs they can use. MS can be a pain for both Nintendo and Sony combined if they actually tried. Imagine Sony competing with Xbox that has a good game after good game and Nintendo having to compete with same company that ports these games to their handheld hybrid console. I will say that I'm neither fan of Sony, MS or Nintendo but it is apparent that they are not competing at their fullest.
I really wonder how many people actually realize the insane quality of production at work here. The research, the writing, the nuanced and apt editing, the delivery. All done by 1 person in a span of a few days/hours. Kyle, you're extremely talented!

Thanks for the Just Dance Olympics update Kyle. Also I'm impressed how well the honk noice was blended with the background noise there.
"they are, in fact, just dancing" - you Kyle have a gift! 😁Already loved Final Bosman back then, but your humor got so refined, even though at EZA you took a long break from it.
It’s amused me the entire time this court scenario has occurred, that all we heard was MS Sony, MS Sony, MS Sony… and all I could think is “so Nintendo aren’t a thing yeah? Despite being the one company so signed on MS’ dotted line for CoD for ten years?” They’re always counted out, they’re always mocked, but in the end, they win…
Nintendo was mentioned a lot during the FTC trials, it's only that they didn't submit any documents because they were favourable to the acquisition, so nothing leaked. Also it only had one testimony. Those two things are what get the biggest headliners.
We know this is realistic because corporate emails don't want some of the money THEY WANT ALL THE MONEY. Incremental increase, lol, SPEND THE COMPETITION OUT OF BUSINESS.
Every company wants to have a captive market. Because a captive market can't demand for better conditions for themselves (a.k.a., worse conditions for the company).
It's funny that they tried to play that email off like it was a 2019 strategy while trying to buy the biggest 3rd party publisher in the world after having just bought another big 3rd party publisher. They stopped going after single studios and a handful of IP. Neither Sony nor Nintendo have bought entire publishers with multiple studios before. It is something only Microsoft has the money to do, especially with this deal. It's clear as day that it's still their plan as they do try and acquire the biggest IPs like Disney. I'm surprised it took them near 20 years to open up their wallets to do so. I'm hoping the injunction is granted to show that they can't just buy their way past the competition. Allowing them to acquire ABK sets a precedent for future purchases to be allowed so MS could go after EA, Ubisoft, Take Two, and any other major publisher if they wanted and be given little resistance from buying them. They are the only one of the big 3 with the money to do so. Also, that Just Dance esports competition was just brutal. I couldn't imagine watching that live, let alone being in the crowd as they changed the rules midway. Just OOF!
Anyone with even a little bit of corporate work experience also knows that a strategy is not set for a year but often set for many years, eg. 'in 5 years we want to go from x to y' or 'in 10 years we want our income revenue from this part of the company to be z'. Of course strategies can be changed or reviewed but it's hilarious to only suggest that it's no longer relevant because it was an email from 2019.
Kyle this episode was so good! You gotta change the title and thumbnail to make it perform better if you want a better reach! Especially if you make about just dance. That was top notch comedy 😂
It's funny. I kept seeing "bomb shell" articles, reading them and just going "hmm". Nothing was shocking to me. Maybe I'm not understanding the implications? It's just a massive company doing massive company things.. and now we get to dig in to emails. oooo. The only thing shocking is how benign they are.
This season's Delayed Input has our boy Kyle as either a store manager who much in their 2 weeks notice or person who came back from an European vacation with a new name. On the real, I'm digging the turtleneck and why Microsoft is still concerned about Sony. Just do your thing and folks will gravitate to it if it's good.
You know what's even funnier about this whole content discussion? Microsoft doesn't have those IP in their fold SOLELY DUE TO THEIR OWN DAMN FAULT! Microsoft were offered a deal for spiderman: rejected, went to sony; Microsoft were offered a deal for genshin impact exclusivity: discarded, and guess who is reaping the rewards now lol. I wonder how many times this has happened behind the scenes 🤔 They just keep proving Steve Jobs right whenever they get the chance
They thought they could get away w/ this. They truly.. truly.. did. Little did they know, that Kyle Bosman was 1 of the 3 people who actually watched until the end...
Brilliant episode. The fact that Microsoft is being sued for wanting to he "the Disney of gaming", with the perfect final ironic line of "Disney is asking itself how can we be the Nintendo of cinema".
Enjoyed this one! ngl tho, when I saw this video title, I hadn't yet read the quoted e-mail from the Big Booty. So I thought the topic of today's Delayed Input was how Jim Ryan's plan to spend 60% of Playstation Studios' dev budget on Live Service Games from now on might "spend" SIE out of business.😅
The Just Dance Olympic Tournament update is the kind of hard hitting journalism that this channel needs
Godspeed Bossman
New favorite ending bit. Holy shit the last minute had me rolling
It's amazing because I didn't see any headlines about this and OF COURSE Kyle is the one to fill us in on it lol
That honk during the quiet audience moment 😂
