What advice do you have for me?" About the Switch 2, keep in mind the games were being demonstrated on "target specs", meaning it was just a PC and not on Nintendo hardware. Yes, DLSS is incredible tech but even with it I cannot imagine a handheld running the matrix demo with ray-tracing without it being expensive, having terrible battery life, and having a relatively large formfactor. So I'm thinking either these target specs are too ambitious or the Switch 2 does have some surprise regarding the portability.

I don't really engage with Switch 2 speculation, so all I will say is that those requests for Charles at the end... sublime. I don't know what dark depths you dove into to drag out those words in that sequence of order, but man do I ever wish you had never spoken them out loud AND consider them hilarious. Me, I would ask him to act out Homunculus from the PS2 adventure game Shadow of Memories putting on his long silk stockings only to find that they have been filled to the brim with jello. I think that would be a real challenge for him, the kind of thing you really have to dive DEEP into yourself to pull out. the kind of challenge ANY actor would be thrilled, border-line ecstatic, to engage with. I am sure he will love and appreciate my request so... SO much.
It would be the first normal transition since SNES. If they do have something weird, I'd imagine it's just something additional that doesn't compromise back compatibility or Switch's premise.

I think low latency, wireless Video Streaming will be THE big new feature of the Switch 2. Imagine: 1. Stream across multiple Switch 2 consoles for local multiplayer (just one game copy required) 2. Stream to your TV, with or without docking the System 3. Steam to VR goggles from anywhere or from the Dock Its basically using Streaming tech of the Wii U with big improvements and without the stupid dual Screen concept (except for backwards compatibility with ds, 3ds, wii u)
Sure that's nice, but it's an additional thing. There has to be a "THING", it has to be fun and different. Otherwise it's just switch but better, and I don't think it would be very impactful.

To be fair the Super Nintendo wasn't that strange compared to the NES. It had the strange way the chips worked in the cartridges and more buttons on the controllers but given the Genesis had already done this I wouldn't say there is really anything strange about the SNES
As much as I love to see Nintendo's crazy new ideas, I'm totally fine with the New Super Switch 2 being the same with just better processing and a better screen. Backwards compatibility is all I ask for.
I think, because it was a meeting for devs, they wanted to focus on what they *could* do with the console when it came to processing/graphical power. However, if it's just a switch pro, I won't be getting it. I already have a switch. Also that post-credits bit was hysterical.
Not doing Tear of the Kingdom DLC is the biggest signal that Switch 2 is happening soon. TotK DLC would absolutely make sense financially unless Nintendo needed to shift focus to a new platform.
If it's just an upgrade to a better switch, isnt that just like the DS family tree? If anything this feels like the jump to New 3DS, backwards compatible with better performance and some ancillary new feature like the rubber nipple. Also, Nintendo did prevent backwards compat when it was possible when they went to the DS and GBA Micro and only allowed GBA games and prevented older GB/GBC games with the little tab inside the port for the cartridges
Nintendo has quite often supported backwards compatibility one gen back. GBA with GB. DS with GBA (they even made a dedicated slot for it). 3DS with DS. Wii with GC. Wii U with Wii. Not counting GBA micro, Wii mini and DSi, Switch is the first console since GC that didn’t offer backward compatibility. Possibly due to the physical limitations of disk based media. Switch 2 will probably be compatible with Switch.
I wouldn't read too much into what he says tbh. We don't know how the BOTW tech demo was tailored. It could have been a heavily tweaked version of the engine to simply show the advancements of the new tech(higher framerate, higher LOD, maybe ray tracing, increased flora etc).
