@@haagenneldeberg6787 10 years? It was that way even in the 90s. Hell, the 80s had reboots of The Body-Snatchers and the Thing. And even Ben-Hur, THE Ben-Hur, which won 11 Oscars, was itself a reboot.
Perhaps even in the time before television and radio, in the Victorian era, written fiction had its own shares of reboots. Its a cycle that never ends because nostalgia is an innate human condition.
The Dune 2021 was definitely a good reboot.
Now I'm sad because I had the realisation of existentialism prematurely and started clinging to nostalgia when I was only, like, 11.

+The Warp Zone Uhm guys. I hate to burst your bubble, but Jem and the Holograms (2015) is not a "reboot". It's just a shitty-ass, generic "behind-the-music", "rags-to-riches" bubblegum popstar story that just so happens to have the title, "Jem and the Holograms" in it. The actual cartoon series didn't even have a movie adaptation that existed back in the 1980's like what Transformers and G.I. Joe did.

But, I have seen plenty of the "Neo-Saban/Saban Brands"-era of Power Rangers on Nickelodeon and....yeah, aside from the first 20 episodes of Power Rangers Dino Charge, I have absolutely no further interest in watching them on TV anymore. Nor do I feel like I wanna re-visit Samurai/Super Samurai, Megaforce/Super Megaforce, and Dino Super Charge because they've brought be nothing more but pain.

Eduardo Ferreira Well there's also the theory about 7 basic plots in fiction, which would mean that at this point there's not much of a chance of something truly being original, because everyone works with the same building blocks so even if you do your best to do something no one else has done it'll still be comprised of bits and pieces that have been used elsewhere.
Archaic King well i think thats were people mistake originality with a need in movie plot wise is hard to explain but easy to understand if you use the example of cinematography where movie are shot in a very different way then they were decades ago and thats a good thing we have evoled with tecnolagy and working with different angles and that kinda stuff to bring a better more enjoyable movie just in the way it is shown and almost every movie now follow a patern but also almost evey movie trys to show something different being good or bad its original so what i mean to say there things that will allways be in movie for good reason doesnt mean we arre not original it just mean we are evolving and its the new things that we add to that make it original if you think that way that u can never make anything new becasue u will use stuff that as been used before than no movie exept for th first one as ever been original

Disney could have make it more comic but they choose not to cause of "more darker and more vilonce" even Sony, Fox, Universal pictures and Netflix exclusive did marvel characters more comic book and more realistic than Disney. Don't get me wrong. MCU is amazing fantastic but it could have been more better if it have more comic book. They did few comic on MCU but it not that alot tho. Disney make it more kid friendly instead of darker realistic.
If they use "dark and violent" they would scare the kids and the kids would never see them again. If the story isn't good enough then why they keep make them. The companies are making a lot of money which reminds me there is little audience.

Everyone acts like the 70s film is the original "willy wonka' and the chocolate factory, forgetting it was a classic before that even came out. Even the author disliked the film and I think he would have favoured the reboot

Watched this for the first time years ago, and it was entertaining then. Now that I'm a bit older, this hits so much harder, especially about life grinding you down at every turn, it really fucking starts to around your mid-twenties, and it never seems to let up.....

John Killerboy 70% of the Japanese Godzilla movies had even LESS! 2014 had some of the BEST human characters tagged along with the best monster designs of the series! I love the heisei timeline the most but 2014 as a standaloe was one of THE BEST Godzilla movies in history. Beats all of millennium and all of the later showa flicks

Being 20 when this released and now 25 I already understood that need to try and capture your nostalgia again before but now I've also gone through 5 more years of the world trying its damn best to grind you down, bad employers, family and friend dying, financial troubles in boatloads, loosing touch with people, depressions, covid and all the other fun stuff that comes with the self awareness of being an adult and yeah every company out there nearly are trying to milk your nostalgia that becomes more and more precious with every year you spend as an adult and it works because they have been doing this for years now. Also thinking back I'm guessing everyone has thought "When I become an adult..." or something like that when they were young but regret having to grow older now.

***** I feel is if you fail to see what the transformer films and yes, even the old show are, excuses to sell toys. The transformer films (and every Michael Bay film, really) are god awful, with cliched, boring story lines, bad dialogue and acting worse than freshmen year high school drama club; lest us forget the racism and sexism within the films as well. Are the films harmful? no. they are not the cancer on the film industry that some put them out to be, but are they good or should they be remembered? absolutely not. Films like 2001:a space odyssey are examples of films that show off the best of the effects available at the time but still capture a great film, while transformers only shows the former, which is not enough to make a great film; people remember movies like evil dead much more than twister because evil dead showed a great film, even though it had cheap effects, while twister had top notch effects but a boring, uninteresting plot which lead it to become dust in the wind, transformers will have the same fate. From your comments it seems you haven't seen very many movies, considering you think that the transformers is a complex film, I suggest you watch some more movies, search for the classics like The Godfather, or Full metal jacket, and if you want true complexity go back and watch 2001:a space odyssey, which will show you how complex the art form truly can be.

Geek genocide Besides the fact we only saw about 18 mins of Godzilla, I thought the movie was pretty good too. And even then, those 18 mins were one of the most epic moments I have seen

dude you almost made me cry I could feel them welling getting ready to go, i'm glad you didn't cry because that would of set me going especially since I grew up watching the same things i've been watching superhero movies since the the first toby movies of spidey (despite the failure of 3) the second one i hold in regard of one of the superhero classics now it's still a good movie and it did make me cry at some points even amazing spiderman 2 did the same with the Gwen scene cause despite if the reboots faults I was invested emotionally to both spiderman and the rest of the characters!
