  • Rather than using BimmerLink to manually open the exhaust valve every time I go for a drive, I wanted to keep the stock exhaust valve open permanently. The process is very simple and simply requires pulling the proper fuse.

      @@mevans8646 Does comfort mode close the valve? Was thinking of getting an M perf exhaust

    • @mevans8646
      @mevans8646  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dlzmedia2792 yes comfort mode closes the valve. In sport, sport+ and traction mode it’ll keep the valve open in gears 1 and 2, but then close it once you hit third gear up until you reach a certain RPM..it’s kinda weird how it acts. So that’s why I just decided to pull the fuse and keep it open all the time. If you buy the MPE it doesn’t have a valve at all so you won’t have this issue. I’d recommend joining some Facebook groups for these cars (B58 groups, 2/3/4 series groups) and get an MPE second hand. I might end up doing that, and you can pick them up used for half of what they go for new.

      My 2018 M240i valve stays in the current state when I turn off the car, be it open or closed. My experience is that it stays in that state after the fuse is pulled. So this is a solution to two issues - keeping valve open or keeping it closed! Also, my valve closes on startup (without fuse pulled), then opens by itself when warm, so you can choose your preferred state.

    • @mevans8646

      Cold start is always louder just because of how cold starts run the engine to warm it up. That doesn’t necessarily mean the exhaust has a valve. If you look into the exhaust, you’d be able to visibly see a flap in there if you had one.
